Chapter 277 The New Family Doctor

Previously, in order to deal with various situations that might arise during pregnancy and childbirth more professionally, Lu Rang did have his assistant post a job advertisement, hoping to find an experienced family doctor with an obstetrics and gynecology background, just in case.

Ms. Li handed over her resume, which was very impressive: she graduated from a well-known medical school, had many years of clinical experience in obstetrics and gynecology, and later became a high-end family doctor, especially skilled in prenatal and postnatal care and newborn care.

She speaks eloquently, possesses solid professional knowledge, and has a gentle and composed gaze, giving people a sense of trustworthiness.

Lu Rang and Shang Wu glanced at the resume briefly and asked a few simple questions. The other party answered fluently and was neither humble nor arrogant.

Considering that Shang Wu really needed more professional follow-up care, and that Dr. Li's qualifications were impeccable, the two exchanged a glance and decided to keep him on trial for the time being.

"Dr. Li, welcome. I'll call you Sister Li from now on, it sounds more friendly," Shang Wu said with a smile.

Li Li nodded calmly: "Yes, Mrs. Lu, Mr. Lu, I will do my best."

It was dinnertime, so Lu Zheng warmly invited, "Dr. Li, you haven't eaten yet, have you? If you don't mind, let's have a simple home-cooked meal together as a welcome to you."

Sister Li declined slightly, but seeing the host's hospitality, she readily agreed. During the meal, her words and actions were very proper, neither overly enthusiastic nor reserved, and she quickly blended into the atmosphere.

After the meal, Lu Zheng, having other matters to attend to at the Yu family's residence, told Shang Wu to get some rest before leaving.

Lu You and Cheng Zhou stayed a little longer before getting up to say goodbye.

The following day, Lu Rang handed over the affairs of the law firm to Yan Yue.

He followed Shang Wu almost every step of the way.

She was drawing design drafts in the study, while he sat on the sofa next to her dealing with emails.

She watches TV in the living room, and he always stays by her side, ready to bring her water and fruit at any time.

Even if she went for a short walk in the garden, he would always follow closely behind, his arm always in a supporting position.

At first, Shang Wu enjoyed this meticulous care.

But as time went on, especially under the influence of pregnancy hormones, her emotions became somewhat sensitive, and she began to inexplicably crave some alone time.

Sometimes, she just wanted to quietly daydream for a while, or focus on her design undisturbed, but Lu Rang's presence was too strong. His constant attention made her feel like a fragile object under close surveillance, and a subtle sense of irritation gradually arose in her heart.

That afternoon, Shang Wu was revising design drawings in his study, needing an absolutely quiet environment to capture inspiration.

As usual, Lu Rang sat next to her. Although he didn't say anything, the sounds of him flipping through documents, occasionally tapping on the keyboard, and even his steady breathing all became distractions to Shang Wu, whose senses were amplified at that moment.

She tried to hold back, but finally couldn't. She put down her pen, rubbed her temples, and spoke with a hint of barely perceptible fatigue and irritability.

"Lu Rang, could you... go outside for a while? I want to be alone for a bit."

Lu Rang was taken aback for a moment, then looked up and saw her slightly furrowed brows. He immediately became anxious: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Are you dizzy? Or is the baby bothering you?"

He was about to get up and come over when he said that.

"I'm not feeling unwell!" Shang Wu's voice rose slightly, clearly tinged with emotion. "I just want to be alone! I can't concentrate with you here!"

Lu Rang's worried expression froze instantly, and a hint of helplessness and hurt flashed in his eyes.

He remained silent for a few seconds, and seeing that Shang Wu was indeed agitated, he finally stood up slowly and said in a low voice, "Okay, I'll be right outside the door. Call me anytime if you need anything."

His tone carried a hint of cautious grievance.

Lu Rang gently closed the door and stood guard outside the study, like a silent guardian deity.

Just then, Cheng Zhou strolled over for a visit, carrying a box of egg tarts.

As soon as he went upstairs, he saw Lu Rang leaning against the wall outside the study door, looking rather forlorn. He was a far cry from the confident and assertive lawyer he usually was in court.

Cheng Zhou was stunned for a moment, then realized what he meant and almost burst out laughing.

He tiptoed over, nudged Lu Rang with his elbow, and lowered his voice, his tone full of mockery.

"Hey, Attorney Lu, what happened? Kicked out? Tsk tsk, the world is going to the dogs. I never thought you'd end up like this, so pathetic, you've even become someone people dislike?"

Lu Rang glared at him irritably, too lazy to respond to his teasing, but his brows furrowed even more.

He was indeed confused and aggrieved. He just wanted to protect her, so why did it annoy her?

Seeing his expression, Cheng Zhou stopped joking and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Alright, stop standing here like a doorman. It's normal for pregnant women to have mood swings and want to be alone."

The more you follow her every step, the more pressure she may feel.

"Let's go downstairs, try the egg tarts I brought, and let Shang Wu stay here by herself for a while."

At that moment, the study door opened.
