Time flies, and the day of parting has arrived in the blink of an eye.
The international departure hall of the airport was bustling with people.
The Lu and Fu families, along with Lu You's entire family, came to see the two children off.
The suitcases had already been checked in, and Lu Yuwu and Fu Yan were only carrying light bags.
"When you get there, be sure to let us know you're safe as soon as possible, okay?"
Shang Wu held Lu Yuwu's hand, repeatedly urging her, her eyes reddening as she held back her tears, "If you need anything in the apartment, go buy it right away. Don't make do. Eat on time and don't always eat those unhealthy fast food meals."
"Mom, I know, I've told you so many times."
Lu Yuwu hugged Shang Wu's arm, her voice choked with emotion, "You and Dad need to take good care of yourselves, get your checkups on time, and don't overwork yourselves."
Lu Rang stood aside, unlike Shang Wu who was talkative, and simply patted Fu Yan's shoulder silently, everything was understood without words.
Fu Yan nodded solemnly: "Uncle, don't worry, I will take good care of Xiao Wu."
Madam Fu also held her son's hand, giving him many instructions and then slipping him a card.
"Don't skimp on yourself and Xiaowu when you're out; spend money when you should."
Lu You and Cheng Zhou then teased Xiao Chenyu as he said goodbye to them.
Little Chenyu didn't understand the meaning of parting yet. He waved his little hand and said in a childish voice, "Sister and brother-in-law, come back soon and play with Chenyu!"
Cheng Zhou smiled, his eyes crinkling: "Xiao Wu hasn't even married Fu Yan yet, and this child is already calling him brother-in-law."
Fu Yan took out a red envelope and handed it over, saying, "I secretly taught you this. I've already prepared the gift for changing your address."
"You're giving me 30,000 just for changing my mind? Fu Yan, you're really generous. No wonder I had my eye on you from the start." Lu You winked at him, trying to liven up the atmosphere.
Soon, the announcement began urging passengers bound for Paris to board their plane.
The moment of parting finally arrived.
Lu Yuwu hugged each of her family members, and finally held Shang Wu tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"Mom, I will miss you."
"Honey, three years will pass quickly, in the blink of an eye." Shang Wu patted his back, her voice choked with emotion. "Take good care of yourself, and video chat often."
Fu Yan also solemnly bid farewell to the group, then took Lu Yuwu's hand: "Mom and Dad, Uncle and Aunt, Aunt and Uncle, we're leaving."
The two walked towards the security checkpoint, turning back every few steps, amidst the reluctant gazes of their families, until their figures finally disappeared around the corner of the passage.
After the children left, the airport terminal seemed to become much emptier instantly.
Several elders stood there, gazing in the direction they had left, remaining motionless for a long time.
A faint sadness permeated the air.
Shang Wu sighed softly and rested her head on Lu Rang's shoulder.
Lu Rang put his arm around her shoulder and asked in a low voice, "Are you tired? Let's go back."
Shang Wu shook her head and looked up at him: "No rush to go back, A-Rang, let's just take a walk."
Lu Rang was slightly taken aback, but then he understood what she meant.
He looked down at Shang Wu.
She's lost some weight these days from worrying about the children.
Lu Rang put his arm around her shoulder: "Okay."
The two did not leave with the others, but strolled side by side in the airport's spacious passageway.
Outside the glass window, airplanes were taking off and landing.
"The children have all grown up and have their own paths to follow."
Lu Rang's voice was low and deep, "From now on, I can finally worry less."
Upon hearing this, Shang Wu couldn't help but chuckle and turned to look at him: "Attorney Lu, are you planning to retire early and enjoy life?"
"Retirement is still a long way off." Lu Rang stopped and turned to face her, his gaze fixed on her alone.
"However, we really should have more time for the two of us."
He reached out and gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear: "It's time to fulfill my promise to take you to the places I promised. Where would you like to go first? To see the aurora?"
Shang Wu placed her hand in his palm, interlocked their fingers, and raised an eyebrow.
Just like when he first met her.
"All is well."
She whispered, "Anywhere is fine as long as I'm with you."
Lu Rang squeezed her hand and returned her a warm smile.
He took out his phone and asked Cheng Zhou to help him book tickets with a friend for a group tour to see the aurora borealis.
The two got into the car.
On the way back, Shang Wu couldn't help but sigh: "I remember when I first got pregnant you were very nervous. You were afraid that you wouldn't be a good father, and you were afraid that you would also hurt the child."
“The child has grown up so much, he is lively, cute and healthy, and also very outstanding. Lu Rang, I stayed behind with you alone because I wanted to tell you that you have always been a very responsible father.”
Lu Rang gripped the steering wheel tightly, unable to resist turning his head to look at her, his eyes glistening with tears.
He freed one hand and grasped Shang Wu's.
"Because you are a good mother, I am a qualified father."
Shang Wu was taken aback.
Lu Rang smiled.
“Shangwu, I am happy every day I am with you. I am really worried that I will not be a good father after the child is born.”
"Influenced by you, I have learned how to love others, and I believe that both my mother and brother will be very happy."
Shang Wu's eyes reddened.
She thought of Lu Rang's mother.
The daughter's name also comes from Lu Rang's mother's surname.
Her birth was of great significance and had too many implications.
Shang Wu pursed her lips and said in a trembling voice, "Lu Rang, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a mother. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be with anyone else."
The two looked at each other and smiled.
Back at the Lu family villa.
