Chapter 26: Daily Caution

Chapter 26: Daily Caution

"Whose carriage is this?" the captain who was on night patrol shouted.

It’s Ji Tiao.

The voices of the two Ji brothers are very similar. Although Qiu Xuan has not seen Ji Tiao many times, he still remembers him clearly.

Qiu Xuan breathed a sigh of relief.

She looked at Jiang Jinhan, who was calm and composed, and motioned Qiuxuan to go out and deal with it.

Qiu Xuan thought to himself, if you hadn't met me tonight, how would you have dealt with it?

However, letting her go out to negotiate is indeed the most convenient way.

All horse-drawn carriages in Dadu are registered with the government.

Qiu Xuan was using the Marquis's carriage. Although it had a low-key appearance and no emblems, there was no guarantee that the soldiers patrolling the streets all day might be able to identify the carriage.

Besides, she had already made an appointment with Ji Tiao.

Ji Tiao is leading the patrol tonight. Qiu Xuan handed him a letter, asking him to wait until dawn to send Liu Hui out of the city and he would provide cover.

Although there are problems with the time and place right now, it is still acceptable.

Qiuxuan lifted half of the curtain.

"Captain Ji."

When Ji Tiao recognized the person, he was surprised at first, then he ordered his subordinates to stay where they were and walked forward himself.

"Why is Madam Qiu here?"

"Something happened. I'll explain it to you slowly later. Liu Hui is in the car behind."

"You want to send her out of town immediately?"

Qiu Xuan thought, I can't make the decision here. Liu Hui's life is now in Jiang Jinhan's hands.

She was hesitating to speak when she heard Jiang Jinhan leaning close to her ear and whispering, "Yes."

Qiu Xuan shrank his neck and said, "Liu Hui is in the car behind us. Captain Ji, please escort her out of the city."

"Do you want me to send you back?"

"No need." Qiu Xuan immediately refused without thinking. Jiang Jinhan behind her couldn't help but snort and laugh. Qiu Xuan used her hand hidden behind the car curtain to push Jiang Jinhan inside.

Ji Tiao heard the noise and couldn't help but ask, "Is there anyone else in Madam Qiu's car?"

"Yes." Qiu Xuan said seriously.

"It's mine."

Ji Tiao glanced suspiciously into the car. The torch was at the back, illuminating nothing. He could only nod and say, "Madam Qiu, please be careful on your journey. If you encounter a patrol captain, just tell him my name."

"Thank you, Captain Ji."

Ji Tiao first sent someone to guide the carriage that Liu Hui was riding in towards the exit of the city.

Qiu Xuan's guards gave her a puzzled look, and she quickly said to them, "Just send the man out and come back. Just listen to him."

As she spoke, she looked towards the carriage. Jiang Jinhan's driver was sitting next to Xu Qi and was also looking over here.

"Thank you." Qiu Xuan said to him.

The driver nodded: "Please rest assured, madam."

Ji Tiao reorganized the team and said goodbye to Qiu Xuan: "Madam Qiu, please be careful."

"Same goes for Captain Ji."

Wait until the huge team disappears around the corner.

Before Qiu Xuan could say anything, she heard Jiang Jinhan whisper behind her, "Send Mr. Qiu back to the Marquis' Mansion first."

Have I passed this level?

"Your Highness, how will you deal with Liu Hui?" Qiu Xuan asked.

"Send her to the north," Jiang Jinhan answered bluntly, "Even if I allowed her to stay, she wouldn't be able to stay in Dadu."

She was a witch who had shown her face, and was very eye-catching.

Tonight, the witches will go north to burn her to death. If she is recognized on the street in the future, there will definitely be a bigger commotion than now.

Those believers who blindly follow witches will inevitably regard her as a messenger of God who has come back to life from the dead.

Qiu Xuan remembered Liu Hui's fear of Beidi and couldn't help asking, "Your Highness, are you really going to bury a hundred mages in the foundation as living stakes?"

"You still want to ask me to verify such a far-fetched rumor?"

"It's not without precedent," Qiu Xuan explained, "but from what I've seen today, Your Highness doesn't seem like someone who would do such a cruel and inhumane thing."

"It's Liu Hui's mother," Jiang Jinhan explained. "She now works for the Grand Princess. She's begging you to send her daughter to the North so the family can be reunited."

"Really?" Qiu Xuan asked subconsciously.

Jiang Jinhan glanced at her and said, "The person who got into the car with Liu Hui has already handed her her mother's keepsake. Otherwise, she would have resisted when the car stopped just now."

"That's true." Qiu Xuan nodded in agreement.

That’s great.

"What about the rest of the people?" Qiu Xuan asked again.

"Throw them into the pit and make them into human remains."

Jiang Jin said something coldly, causing Qiu Xuan to look up in surprise. He then continued to explain seriously, "There are definitely not enough people to be human stakes. We can only send them to farm and mine.

"Why must the mage go?" Qiu Xuan was puzzled.

"Because they can at least recognize a few words."

Jiang Jinhan then asked, "You can rest assured about Liu Hui's safety. As for your two helpers, are they Jiang Jinhan's men?"

"They were brought back to Dadu in his name, but they were actually Princess Feifei's people."

Although they were under Jing Beian's command, Qiu Xuan felt that they were more respectful to Fei Fei.

This time they volunteered to help because they learned that Qiu Xuan was punished for helping Feifei escape and refused to betray Feifei, and was a loyal person.

"But now they're my people."

Qiu Xuan doesn't think of herself as a chivalrous person, but she doesn't have many subordinates, and each one of them is very valuable and cannot be easily abandoned.

"I will discipline them, and no one who wasn't present will know what happened tonight."

"That's the best." Jiang Jinhan closed his eyes and rested.

"Thank you, Your Highness, for your kindness."

Ningga, thank you too.

Qiu Xuan could see that the reason Jiang Jinhan let her go so easily was probably because of Ning Jia's favor.

"Your Highness Ningjia..."

"If you really care about her, just go and ask her yourself."

Jiang Jinhan was silent for a moment, then said, "You'd better leave the Marquis' Mansion as soon as possible."

"Is something going to happen at the Marquis' Mansion?" Qiu Xuan asked back, "Your Highness has given me many hints during our previous meetings, but it's a pity Qiu Xuan is too slow to hear them."

"Stupid?" Jiang Jinhan raised his eyes.

"Your Highness, please speak frankly," Qiu Xuan said with a smile. "The journey back to the Marquis' Mansion is still a long way off. If I keep guessing riddles along the way, wouldn't that disturb your rest?"

"The Jing Beian who came back is a fake."

Oh, I know about that.

Qiu Xuan still pretended to be surprised.

Jiang Jinhan looked her over and said, "Stop pretending. It turns out you already knew this."

"Actually, whether this Jing Bei'an is real or not is not important, right?"

Qiu Xuan said softly, "I can't leave the Marquis' Mansion, and it's not just because my husband has returned."

Jiang Jinhan observed Qiu Xuan for a moment and sighed, "As expected of you at the top of the Imperial College, you're very clear about your situation."

"Thank you for the compliment, Your Highness." Qiu Xuan blinked. "Could it be that Your Highness wants to lend me a hand?"

Jiang Jinhan smiled.

In Qiuxuan's opinion, this should be his most sincere smile tonight.

"If I help you, wouldn't it be a waste of all your hard work and efforts?"

"I'm looking forward to seeing how you escape from the tiger's mouth."

When Qiuxuan got off the carriage, it was already dawn.

She stood outside the corner gate of the Marquis' Mansion and respectfully watched the Second Prince's carriage leave.

While delivering it, he was muttering to himself.

"You can't take care of yourself, but you're still stubborn. You're just trying to save face and suffer."

Qiu Xuan dared to bet that if she hadn't interfered tonight, Jiang Jinhan would never have been able to escape from the patrolling captain so easily.

She stretched herself. In a few hours, the news of Ji Zhuang's death would spread throughout the streets and alleys, so she needed to recuperate first.

Qiuxuan knocked on the corner door.

"Madam, you are back."

Zhemei, who was guarding there, immediately came forward.

"The old lady is having a hysterical episode. Please go and see her."
