Chapter 14 Don't be afraid, I'm here.

When they found Lin Yue, she was staring blankly at something. Song Yunzheng slowly walked to her side and tapped the table. "What are you thinking about?"

Lin Yue turned around abruptly and, upon seeing Song Yunzheng, her tense body instantly relaxed. "You're here. What do you want?" she asked, her voice tinged with exhaustion.

Seeing that she was injured, with her forehead red and swollen and covered with scabs, it was obvious that the wound had not been treated. Song Yunzheng's face darkened instantly, and his brows furrowed into a deep frown.

How did you get your forehead injured?

Lin Yue lowered her head and said sullenly, "It was an accident, it's nothing..."

"Come home with me first and treat your wound." Song Yunzheng took her hand and prepared to walk out.

Lin Yue hurriedly broke free, "No! I won't go to your house!" She even stubbornly turned her face to the side.

Song Yunzheng's blood pressure skyrocketed. He wanted nothing more than to crack open her head and see what she was thinking. Her forehead was so badly injured, and she wasn't going to treat it, just letting it get infected? She wouldn't tell him anything unless he asked her directly! She had clearly suffered so much injustice, yet she kept everything bottled up inside. He didn't know what she was afraid of!

"Are you sure you don't want to go? I wouldn't mind carrying you away in front of all these people." As he spoke, he began to roll up his shirt sleeves.

"Wait a minute!" Lin Yue quickly stood up and glared at him. "Can't I just walk by myself? Always resorting to threats, how childish!"

Song Yunzheng didn't care about that. As long as she could obey, he didn't care if she was childish.

Half an hour later, inside Courtyard No. 1.

Song Yunzheng pulled her to sit on the sofa, holding iodine in his hand, frowning as he gently applied it to her skin.

Lin Yue sat motionless, letting him do as he pleased.

"What's the deal with the photos?" Seeing that she remained silent, he asked directly.

"Huh? How did you find out too? You also received the anonymous message?" Lin Yue looked at him in astonishment.

"Who else received it?"

“My mother…” Lin Yue felt a pang of sadness when she mentioned her mother. She was saddened by her mother’s distrust of her and by the lack of concern she showed after her mother injured her, with a hint of “she deserved it” in her eyes.

Why didn't you tell me?

Lin Yue lowered her head even further and said softly, "Because you said last time that I shouldn't come to you when I encounter problems... that I should solve them myself."

Last time? Ha, this girl is not only stubborn, but also holds grudges! She lets everything else go in one ear and out the other, but she remembers these hurtful words clearly!

Faced with her, Song Yunzheng felt helpless for the first time, and glared at her irritably, "Why aren't you this obedient in other matters?"

Lin Yue pouted, "What should I do now? My mother won't let me go home anymore. She wants to cut ties with me. She doesn't believe me and doesn't want me. I... I've become homeless..." As she spoke, tears fell like beads from a broken string.

Seeing her red eyes from crying and her shoulders still trembling, Song Yunzheng felt as if his heart had been clenched, and he swallowed back the words he was about to say to her.

He couldn't help but reach out and wipe away her tears, pulling her into his arms and gently patting her back, comforting her like a child, "Have you forgotten that you're married? You have a husband, how can you be homeless? I'm here, don't be afraid."

No matter what, she's just a 20-year-old girl. Faced with such rumors and gossip, she'll naturally feel helpless and scared.

Song Yunzheng's words were like a tear gas bomb, and Lin Yue cried even louder. She buried her face in his chest without caring about anything else, and snot and tears streamed down her face, all of which were wiped on his clean white shirt.

She didn't cry when people pointed and whispered about her on the street, nor when her mother smashed her phone with her hand. But Song Yunzheng's comforting words seemed to give her an outlet, and she cried uncontrollably until she was completely silent. Perhaps she was too tired from crying and fell asleep in his arms...

Song Yunzheng looked down at the person in his arms. Tears still clung to her long eyelashes, each one distinct.

He picked her up and carried her to the bedside. He gently laid her down, carefully covered her with the blanket, and turned to leave. Just then, a small hand tightly gripped his clothes. He bent down, ready to forcefully pry her hand away.

"Don't leave me..." Lin Yue murmured, tightening her grip on her clothes.

In this situation, how could he bear to pry her hands open? He could only shake his head helplessly, thinking that she must have had a conflict with her mother during the day, and that she looked like a wronged child even in her sleep.

Song Yunzheng glanced at the coat he was still wearing, hesitated for a moment, and finally lay down on his side next to her in the same clothes.

"It's dirty, we'll change the sheets tomorrow."

For someone with severe mysophobia, being able to do this much is the greatest concession he could make. He never knew he could be so tolerant of the person in his arms; this was unprecedented.

Feeling as if there was a big heater next to her, Lin Yue closed her eyes and snuggled into his arms, rubbing her little head against his chest, finding a comfortable position to continue sleeping.

In her sleep, she felt as if she were hugging a large, comfortable, and warm pillow, and she slept even more soundly.

Song Yunzheng was slightly taken aback, looking down at the person who had suddenly snuggled into his arms, as obedient as a kitten. Then, a smile spread across his lips, "If only you were always this obedient."

Listening to the even, deep breathing in his arms, he thought it was time to visit her mother. Although their marriage registration was indeed a bit casual, he had always been a man of his word. Since he had chosen her, he would take responsibility to the end. He thought that while silencing his parents, he could slowly cultivate his feelings for her. Getting married first and then falling in love was not a bad idea.
