Song Yunzheng tried to speak, but his throat felt like it was blocked by a wad of cotton, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't utter a single word.
Lin Yue quickly opened the study window to let in some fresh air, then took his hand and led him to the living room, pressing him down to sit on the sofa.
Looking at his wrinkled clothes and stubble-covered face, my heart ached. How could someone who loved cleanliness have become so disheveled?
Are you hungry?
Song Yunzheng shook his head, "Not hungry..."
Lin Yue got up to pour him some water.
Song Yunzheng's gaze followed her closely until Lin Yue returned with a water glass. Only then did he slightly reduce the burning light in his eyes, but his gaze remained fixed on her, never leaving her.
"Have some water."
Lin Yue handed him the cup, and under her watchful gaze, Song Yunzheng obediently took two sips. With the warm water soothing him, he felt that his throat was not so uncomfortable anymore.
Lin Yue took the cup and placed it on the coffee table. Noticing the bloodshot eyes in his eyes, she asked, "Didn't you sleep?"
"I can't sleep," Song Yunzheng replied casually.
The moment he closed his eyes, the scene of her falling into the sea was like the claws of a demon, tightly gripping his neck and nearly suffocating him.
"Look at you now, you stink! Aren't you supposed to be the cleanest person?" Lin Yue tugged at his sleeve, which was covered in stains.
"How about you go take a shower?"
"I don't want to wash," Song Yunzheng refused directly, his tone carrying a hint of stubbornness.
"Why?" Lin Yue asked patiently.
"You'll disappear as soon as I come out of the shower." When he said this, Song Yunzheng looked like a helpless child, his eyes filled with fear.
"How could I not see you? I won't go anywhere, I'll just wait for you at the door, okay?"
As Lin Yue spoke, she dragged him up and led him to the bathroom. She then rummaged through the dressing room and found his pajamas, stuffing them into his hands. "Go wash up. I'll stay outside and won't go anywhere. Be a good girl, okay?"
Song Yunzheng nodded obediently and went into the bathroom, but he stubbornly refused to let the door be closed.
To give him a sense of security, Lin Yue continued talking outside, and Song Yunzheng did not respond, but listened quietly. Afraid that the sound of the water would drown out her voice, he deliberately reduced the water flow.
When he finished showering and came out, Lin Yue had already made the bed, lifted the covers, and patted the spot next to him, saying, "Come and sleep."
