When we arrived at No. 1 Courtyard, it was already 8 p.m. The heavy rain had stranded many people on the road.
"Achoo, achoo..." Lin Yue covered her nose and sneezed twice.
Song Yunzheng frowned upon hearing this, sensing something was wrong; she was probably catching a cold. He urged her in a low voice, "Go take a shower quickly." Then he saw her frowning and clutching her stomach. "Are you on your period?"
She nodded weakly, clutching her stomach as she walked into the bathroom.
There are sanitary napkins in the second drawer of the sink.
Lin Yue paused, her hand already on the door, before closing it. "Oh, okay, thank you." After closing the door, she turned and stared blankly at the drawer. Had he prepared all this in advance? He prepared it especially for me! A surge of joy welled up inside her.
Song Yunzheng looked down at himself, his body filthy and disgusting. In the past, he would never have allowed such a thing to happen to him. But since meeting this girl, many things he used to find intolerable have gradually become acceptable. He had intended to change her many bad habits, but unexpectedly, he was also being changed by her without realizing it.
Suddenly remembering how weak and helpless she looked earlier, and how she had caught a cold during her period, I couldn't help but feel anxious. I quickly went to another bathroom to take a quick shower, changed into clean clothes, and rushed to the kitchen to prepare dinner for her.
"Luckily, he came back in time, otherwise his car would have been in trouble." Lin Yue thought to herself, drying her hair and occasionally blowing the hairdryer on her lower abdomen to ease the pain.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Song Yunzheng wearing pajamas and an apron, busily serving dishes to the table. She had imagined this scene many times before. Children raised in single-parent families often don't have many fantasies about marriage. In her memory, her mother always had endless housework, while her father took it for granted that those were her mother's job. Later, she vowed that she would find a man who was willing to cook for her for the rest of his life when she got married.
It seems she found it by accident.
"What are you standing there for? Come and eat." Song Yunzheng looked at her in confusion. This girl can just stand there and daydream?
"Ah? Okay, coming right away." Seeing his handsome face and thinking that he would cook for her for the rest of his life, Lin Yue couldn't help but smile and skipped over.
"Does your stomach hurt?"
Lin Yue smiled and nodded, "It hurts so much." She was indeed in a lot of pain, but for some reason, she couldn't help but feel happy when she saw him.
Song Yunzheng picked up a bowl of dark soup, blew on it, and handed it to him, saying, "Drink it."
"What is this?" Lin Yue instinctively shrank back.
Brown sugar ginger tea can dispel cold.
"Hmm? This is good!" Her eyes lit up immediately. She reached out, took the large bowl, and downed it in one gulp.
After dinner, Lin Yue wanted to help clean up, but Song Yunzheng flatly refused, saying, "You just stay put and don't cause me any trouble, you little troublemaker."
"Okay." How much do they think I won't do it well? Lin Yue pouted and sat down on the sofa awkwardly. She turned on the TV and watched an entertainment program. Gradually, she felt her eyelids getting heavier and her head getting heavier and heavier, and soon she fell asleep.
When Song Yunzheng finished his work in the kitchen, he came out and saw a little person curled up on the beige sofa. The little person had long hair that reached her waist and was casually draped to the side. The little person's thin back rose and fell rhythmically with her breathing.
Asleep? He slowed his pace and walked over, finding her curled up like a kitten, her brows furrowed, her face flushed an unnatural red. His heart sank, and he immediately touched her forehead. Damn it, she had a fever! "Lin Yue! Wake up, get up and take your fever reducer."
"Hmm? I don't want to take medicine." Lin Yue mumbled groggily, her head felt heavy, as if it weighed a ton, her eyes were too heavy to open, and her body felt limp and weak.
Seeing her like this, Song Yunzheng wanted to get angry but couldn't do anything about it. "Now is not the time to be willful. Take your medicine first and then go to sleep."
He couldn't let her do whatever she wanted, so he half-embraced her, put the fever reducer in her mouth, forced her to drink some water, and made sure she swallowed the medicine. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
He then picked her up and carried her into the bedroom, carefully placing her on the bed and covering her with a blanket. Just as he was about to leave the room, the same thing happened again: her little hands clung tightly to his clothes, her eyes were tightly closed, and she pitifully mumbled, "My tummy hurts, hold me." People always become like children when they are sick.
Her pitiful appearance and soft voice instantly melted Song Yunzheng's heart. He lay down and gently pulled her into his arms, rubbing her lower abdomen while softly coaxing her, "Sleep well, it won't hurt when you wake up."
"Thank you, honey. You're so good to me. I... I love you so much." Half-asleep, Lin Yue mumbled unconsciously, but accidentally blurted out what was on her mind.
The man abruptly stopped rubbing his lower abdomen, then a crescent-shaped smile spread across his face. His bewitching fox-like eyes gleamed with a cunning light in the dim light, like brilliant stars in the night sky, and his gaze held endless tenderness. "Sweetie, sleep well."
He held her tightly, gently massaging her lower abdomen, until late into the night. Finally, he felt her body temperature gradually return to normal, no longer burning hot. He carefully measured her temperature, and only when he saw the thermometer read 36.5°C did he breathe a slight sigh of relief.
"What a troublesome little thing," he murmured softly before falling asleep, his tone full of doting affection and helplessness. In the quiet night, his voice, like a gentle breeze, quietly drifted into her ears.
On a clear morning after the rain, the faint sunlight pierced through the clouds, and glistening water droplets clung to the treetops on both sides of the street, sparkling in the sunlight.
