Chapter 22 Are You Really Married?

Lin Yue slowly walked to the window. The rain was pouring down, so much so that she could only see a hazy white outside, as if shrouded in a thin veil. "How am I going to get home in this heavy rain?"

"I'll take you."

"No need, someone will come to pick me up." Lin Yue glanced at him warily. She always kept Song Yunzheng's words in mind and kept her distance from him.

Ji Huai didn't say anything more, just looked at her, feeling bitter and unbearable.

"Yuezai, what are you two talking about?" Jiang Li and Cheng Shuyu walked over hand in hand.

"Oh, we didn't talk about anything, just said hello."

Cheng Shuyu glanced at Ji Huai silently. The captain's expression was off; he looked like he'd just broken up with someone.

Jiang Li peeked outside and looked at Lin Yue with concern, "It's raining so hard, how are you going to get home later? Will your husband come to pick you up?"

"They'll be here, so you two go ahead, I'll wait here."

Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?

"Confirmed! You should go back now."

"Okay, I'm off then."

Lin Yue smiled and waved to Jiang Li and the others, "Bye-bye."

Turning around, she found that Ji Huai was still standing behind her, and frowned, asking, "Aren't you leaving?"

"You didn't leave either, did you?"

"I'm waiting for someone, are you waiting for someone too?"

Ji Huai chuckled lightly, "Yes, I'm waiting for someone too."

"Fine, I guess I was being nosy. Wait for whoever you want, just don't follow me." Lin Yue muttered to herself as she silently walked towards the front door, trying to get away from him.

At 5:15, the phone rang precisely on time, and the words "Living Yama" flashed on the phone screen.

"Where are you? Did you bring an umbrella?" Song Yunzheng's voice was tinged with anxiety. The sudden downpour had disrupted his plans. He had originally planned to leave the hospital at five o'clock and get to her school in half an hour, but now he was stuck on the road. The flooding on the road was too severe, and he definitely couldn't leave anytime soon.

"I'm at the school's badminton hall. I didn't bring an umbrella. When are you getting there?" A gust of wind carrying rain swept by, and the chill that penetrated her heart felt like an icy snake's tongue frantically burrowing into her clothes. Lin Yue couldn't help but shiver, and her lower abdomen started to ache more and more.

"Don't wander off, wait patiently for a moment, I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Song Yunzheng anxiously looked at the darkening sky outside the car window and made another call, "Uncle Wu, drive to B University now, as quickly as possible."

I got up, grabbed an umbrella from the back seat, and got out of the car without hesitation. I waded through the muddy water and headed towards Lin Yue's school. Fortunately, it wasn't too far away. I hoped I wouldn't keep the little girl waiting too long.

Inside the badminton hall, fewer and fewer people remained. Soon, even the lights inside were turned off, leaving only a small lamp at the entrance. Lin Yue glanced back at the dark, empty hall and couldn't help but feel a chill. Although she had a chivalrous heart and often helped those in need, she was afraid of the dark and ghosts! "Waaah... Song Yunzheng, when are you getting here?!"

Ji Huai stood silently behind her like a statue, in the unseen darkness, like a loyal guardian. He could see the resistance in her eyes, so he tried his best to maintain this distance, neither too close nor too far.

A cold wind howled past, and Lin Yue pulled her thin trench coat tighter around herself, stamping her feet and rubbing her hands to try and ward off the cold. "Song Yunzheng, your wife is freezing to death, aren't you coming yet!"

"Lin Yue!" A deep and powerful voice came from not far away.

Lin Yue suddenly turned around and excitedly waved and shouted, "Husband! I'm here!" Before he could come over, she rushed straight to him in the rain and threw herself into his arms. "Why did you take so long? I was freezing to death."

Song Yunzheng quickly tilted the umbrella over to make sure she wouldn't get wet. Looking at the little girl in his arms, his heart softened, and he gently stroked her head. "The road was flooded, and the car was stuck in traffic. I was afraid you'd be waiting anxiously, so I abandoned the car halfway and ran over."

Lin Yue then noticed that his legs below the knees were completely wet. He was a person with severe mysophobia, and he had waded through the murky water just to pick her up? She looked at him with concern, "Are you alright? Are you cold?" How could he not be cold? His pants and shoes were all wet.

Song Yunzheng touched her hand. "You seem colder than me." He immediately took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders. "Wearing so little, you'll catch a cold and I'll have to take care of you. You little troublemaker." His tone was reproachful, but his words were full of concern.

His coat still carried his warmth, a warmth that went straight to my heart.

"Let's go, the car is already at the gate." Lin Yue smiled and nodded, holding his hand tightly as they walked towards the school gate.

At the entrance of the badminton hall, Ji Huai stood quietly, his gaze fixed on the two figures gradually walking away, his heart filled with unbearable bitterness.
