Chapter 38: A few words

Chapter 38: A few words

The author is here again.

This is my fourth novel. The previous two period novels were successful, but the historical novel failed.

Although failure is the mother of success, it also limits the author to the "niche literature" of the period, so the fourth part is still a period literature.

Of course, I don’t have any ambition to become a great writer or a platinum author.

I know myself well. I was a science student when I was in school, and I work in the medical field after I started working, so I don't have much time to deal with words.

But this young doctor also has a literary dream in his heart.

This fourth novel, although a period piece, still has a light-hearted style.

But to be honest, the author was born in the 1980s and did not experience that golden age. Usually, he can only rely on the collected information or ask the elderly.

As for whether there are any flaws, I think there are, and I would like to thank the netizens for pointing them out. Although I may not necessarily change them, I am still very grateful.

But there are also some criticisms, which may be caused by information errors.

For example, the author wrote that the protagonist went to the black market to sell rice for 5 yuan per catty. Many readers said it was impossible. This price would be considered high even in 2024, not to mention 1959.

But the author found the "Yanhuang Chunqiu" magazine, Issue 8, 2007, which contained a memoir by a retired cadre of the BJ Second Commercial Bureau.

It is clearly written above that during those three years, local food coupons on the black market were 3 yuan per catty, national food coupons were 4 yuan per catty, and flour coupons were 5 yuan per catty.

If food coupons are sold at such a sky-high price, then wouldn't it be too expensive to charge you 5 yuan per pound for pure rice?

Although the author was also surprised when he first saw this article, this is the fact.

It is hard for people who have not experienced those three years to imagine what happened back then. I can only understand that money is just a piece of paper, but food can save lives.

There are relatively large risks in writing about 1959, and those who understand will understand, but the author does not want to write a courtyard novel, so I can only say that I will touch on the edge. I hope everyone can understand.

Finally, I wish you all a good mood when reading.

Life is already hard enough, so I write novels and you read them for fun.

If you like it, please help me recommend it by giving me a monthly ticket. If you don’t like it, just abandon the book. I won’t stand this humiliation.

But don't curse people. If some readers feel happy cursing, the author will be unhappy. If the author is unhappy, he won't want to write anymore. Then both sides will suffer, haha.

(The new book has received a lot of support from monthly tickets and old friends. I added a chapter today. Although it’s not much, it’s a token of my appreciation. Old friends all know that this author is relatively lazy.)
