My daughter-in-law went down to pick lotus roots, but she never came back up.
"Help! Someone, please!"
She cried out, and after a long while, someone finally noticed what was happening.
He immediately ran over to ask Granny Li.
"What happened?"
Granny Li then spoke to them.
"My wife said she wanted to eat lotus root today, so I told her that we might have some here."
She's been down there collecting for ages and hasn't come back up yet. Maybe she's gotten stuck in the mud.
"Please go down and check, look for someone."
Upon hearing her words, several villagers who had gathered around quickly jumped into the pond to help search for the person.
After searching the pond for a long time, they still couldn't find anyone.
"Old Lady Li, you're not lying to us, are you?"
There's nobody here.
"Yes, the pond is only so big, and there's no one in any deeper areas."
When they said there was no one there, Granny Li was surprised.
