This concludes Chapter 71.

Uncle Zhang didn't understand.

But these are not the most pressing issues.

"Let's go to the hospital," Uncle Zhang said, still worried, "to see Gege..."

Li Mushi looked at his own reflection on the black screen of his phone: "I can't go."

Uncle Zhang: "?"

The phone screen lit up; it was a message.

Li Mushi covered the screen with the desktop: "Jing Ge's new car is totaled, Li Zhan's car only has minor damage, but Jing Ge is awake now, Li Zhan is fine, only his female classmate is still unconscious."

"..." Uncle Zhang suddenly realized something was wrong. "Right, why is she the only one injured? She shouldn't be injured so badly, right?"

Li Mushi said calmly, “The surveillance footage shows that Li Zhan did try to stop Jing Ge from slowing down. We can’t determine that he deliberately cut off the car. However, Jing Ge was speeding, forcibly overtook, and rear-ended the car in a straight line. He should bear the main responsibility. The car didn’t have license plates and most likely didn’t have insurance. If that Zhuo insists on pursuing her responsibility, it won’t be enough to just pay her compensation.”

Uncle Zhang broke out in a cold sweat.

If they really investigate, Jing Ge will have to go to jail.

"Then, what should we do?"

The man sat in the chair, his sharp, sculpted features revealing a piercing gaze: "Her target isn't Jing Ge, it's me."

"..." Uncle Zhang was incredulous. "Targeting you?"

Li Mushi narrowed his eyes: "The court hearing is tomorrow."

Regarding the matter of defamation and spreading rumors.

Meng Shi and Liu Sisi both begged him, but Zhuo Yueyue and her family never showed up.

“She’s using Jing Ge as leverage,” Uncle Zhang said, “to negotiate with you and get you to drop the lawsuit against her?”

If Li Mushi doesn't withdraw the lawsuit, she will pursue Jing Ge's responsibility.

That's a really sophisticated tactic.

She doesn't seem like a girl in her early twenties with any cunning.

This whole thing probably started when Li Zhan was driving alongside Jing Ge.

Uncle Zhang said anxiously, "Then we have to tell the princess!"

Li Mushi lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the document. He picked up the pen again, and with a flourish, wrote his name on the clean white paper.

That student, Zhuo, had more than one purpose.

They're probably just waiting for him to show up at the hospital.

No wonder Jing Ge was powerless to resist; even a cunning fox would probably be unable to see through such insidious methods.

Li Mushi said calmly, "Second Brother is enough."

Uncle Zhang didn't understand.

Often, he simply didn't understand his young boss's thoughts.

He couldn't keep up.

Li Kaiji and Sheng Man went to the hospital immediately.

Without even asking, Li Kaiji slapped Li Zhan hard across the face.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed in the ward. Li Zhan took two steps back, which showed how much force he had used.

The doctors, nurses, and Zhuo Yueyue's parents were all stunned.

“Go and keep watch over Gege,” Sheng Man said sternly. “Your father and I will take care of your classmate.”

Li Zhan's face was swollen on one side: "She's still not awake..."

Sheng Man: "Are you medicine? If you stay by her side, she'll wake up?"

Li Zhan pressed his tongue against his burning cheek: "Can you guys stop being like that brat who can't tell right from wrong? I'm pleading for her!"

“Yes, yes,” Mr. Zhuo hurriedly replied, “He said he wanted to compensate Yueyue and ask us to forgive that classmate.”

Sheng Man looked at him calmly: "It was our two children who were ignorant and dragged your daughter into this. The trouble was caused by Li Zhan, so his father and I should be the ones to pay the compensation."

Li Kaiji, rarely showing anger, shouted: "Go to the princess's side!"

Li Zhan rubbed his swollen face, feeling inexplicably good, and actually obediently left.

Jingge was fast asleep.

She felt something poking her face, making it itchy.

Jingge struggled to open his eyes.

He met Li Zhan's unruly and disrespectful gaze.

"You've really got some nerve, daring to hit me," he said nonchalantly. "Your beat-up little car is so bad, it'd fall apart if it hit someone else."

Jingge closed his eyes again.

Li Zhan leaned closer: "Hey, I'm not asking you to pay, you don't need to be so scared."

Jing Ge, exhausted, said, "Get out."

Li Zhan tugged at her hair: "You didn't expect this, did you? The person you wanted to see didn't come, but the person you didn't want to see is here..."

Jingge opened his eyes: "Who do I want to see?"

Li Zhan: "You know perfectly well."

At this point, he lazily added, "I understand the human instinct to admire the strong; even I sometimes wish I could be like him. But you have to be grounded. The strong can only admire the strong; we little shrimps can only look up to them..."

Jing Ge looked at him: "Li Zhan."

“You said,” Li Zhan said in a good mood, “that if you want to make up, we can discuss it.”

Jing Ge: "Don't be here, I find you disgusting."

"......"

Jing Ge, feeling weak and listless, still managed to say, "You've touched other people's hands, touched other people's mouths, been touched by other people, and breathed other people's air. It's filthy."

Li Zhan's face was clouded with gloom.

“The thought that I was once engaged to you makes me feel nauseous, like I’m going to throw up,” Jingge said.

Li Zhan suddenly stood up.

It made a sharp noise from the chair.

"And what makes you think you're so innocent! I haven't even complained about your promiscuity, and you're complaining about me!"

“Hmm,” Jingge said, utterly exhausted, “I’m dirty too, you can get lost.”

Li Zhan's eyes began to redden, and he gritted his teeth.

"Just a friendly reminder," he said ominously, "I'm already the ceiling you can reach in your life. Don't even dream about anyone else!"

-

Li Kaiji and Sheng Man took all the blame onto Li Zhan.

They offered extremely generous terms, including apologies, compensation, and emotional distress damages, in order to persuade them to drop their pursuit of Jing Ge.

As if considering that Li Zhan was Zhuo Yueyue's crush, Zhuo's parents didn't dare to go too far and softened their attitude considerably.

When Li Zhan returned with a gloomy face, Zhuo Yueyue was already awake.

Only the two of them remained in the ward.

“You guessed wrong,” Li Zhan said, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. “My uncle didn’t come.”

Zhuo Yueyue's fingers clenched secretly: "I misunderstood Uncle, was it just Jing Ge's side of the story?"

That was a miscalculation.

They didn't come.

Jingge escaped death, but he didn't come.

“You’ve misunderstood him. My uncle doesn’t get emotional easily,” Li Zhan didn’t finish his sentence. “He didn’t drop the charges against you just because you wanted to hold Jing Ge accountable.”

"..." Zhuo Yueyue's face paled for a moment. "I didn't really want to pursue Jing Ge."

Li Zhan: "That's good."

Zhuo Yueyue: "".

“Let’s leave it at that,” Li Zhan said coldly. “No one can change my uncle’s mind once he’s made up his mind. Instead of trying to get him to drop the charges, it would be easier to work on the school’s side.”

Zhuo Yueyue asked softly, "What do you mean, 'end'?"

Li Zhan: "My parents don't like you, they don't even like you as a friend, there's nothing I can do about it."

"..." Zhuo Yueyue bit her lip, then let go, "Jing Ge likes your uncle, I'm a girl, I can tell."

“As long as my uncle doesn’t have any designs on him, that’s fine,” Li Zhan straightened up. “Who wouldn’t be tempted by someone like him? But as long as he doesn’t show any interest, no one can do anything about it. Let’s go our separate ways from now on.”

Zhuo Yueyue's tears fell.

Before leaving, Li Zhan kindly reminded him: "Stay away from my uncle in the future. He's someone who can beat AI at chess. He's indifferent to women and doesn't get emotional. He's practically invincible."
