Chapter 105 The Rift Between Brothers

As soon as Lu Zhaoming returned to the temporary base, he found a familiar figure standing at the door.

"Liu Feng?" Lu Zhaoming raised an eyebrow, looking at him with a hint of doubt.

The setting sun cast its last rays on Liu Feng, making his shadow long and giving him a tired look, but his eyes held a hint of urgency: "Zhaoming, I have important intelligence."

Lu Zhaoming felt a chill run down his spine. His years of experience surviving in the apocalypse told him that things were definitely not simple.

Although Liu Feng's expression seemed very sincere, there was a barely perceptible stiffness hidden deep in his eyes.

"Come in and we'll talk." Lu Zhaoming calmly stepped aside to make way, while secretly activating the scanning function of the "Doomsday Judgment System".

A barely perceptible blue light swept across Liu Feng's entire body, and a glaring red warning immediately appeared on the system interface: "The target's brain power fluctuations are abnormal, suspected of being under external mental control."

There was definitely a problem!

Lu Zhaoming cursed inwardly, but kept his face calm as he led Liu Feng into the house.

"What intelligence? Why are you in such a hurry?" Lu Zhaoming gestured for Liu Feng to sit down, then casually picked up the half-eaten energy bar on the table and took a bite.

Liu Feng took a deep breath and lowered his voice, saying, "I accidentally learned that Crimson Owl plans to launch a large-scale attack in three days, and the target... is us!" As he spoke, he pulled a crumpled map from his pocket and handed it to Lu Zhaoming.

"This is a battle map that I finally managed to get my hands on. It shows their troop deployment and attack routes in detail." Liu Feng's tone was very serious, as if he was genuinely worried about the safety of his brothers.

Lu Zhaoming took the map and quickly glanced at it.

The map was indeed very detailed, even marking some hidden firing positions clearly.

"How did you get this map?" Lu Zhaoming raised his head, his eyes sharply fixed on Liu Feng.

Liu Feng seemed to have been prepared, and explained, "I... I met someone at the Red Owl's base before. He secretly gave me this map and asked me to tell you to be careful."

Lu Zhaoming narrowed his eyes and continued to press, "Who is that person? Why would he take such a big risk to help you?"

Liu Feng's expression became somewhat unnatural, and his eyes began to flicker: "This... I can't say, it would harm him if I did. Anyway, believe me, this map is real!"

"We risked our lives to get this information!" Little Tiger couldn't hold back any longer and excitedly explained on behalf of his brother.

Alarm bells rang in Lu Zhaoming's mind. Liu Feng's answers were vague and even avoided some key questions. Coupled with the warning issued by the system, he was almost certain that Liu Feng was up to something.

“Okay,” Lu Zhaoming nodded, his tone softening. “However, the information on this map still needs further verification. After all, it concerns everyone’s lives, so we can’t be careless.”

"Of course, of course," Liu Feng said hastily, seemingly afraid that Lu Zhaoming wouldn't believe him.

"Su Li, Qing Lian." Lu Zhaoming turned to Su Li and Qing Lian and instructed them, "For the next few days, you two will be responsible for monitoring Liu Feng. Report any unusual situations to me immediately."

Su Li and Qing Lian exchanged a glance and nodded knowingly.

"Liu Yan, Lao Lang." Lu Zhaoming then looked at Liu Yan and Lao Lang, "You two are responsible for strengthening the defense of the stronghold. Make sure it is absolutely safe."

"Understood!" Liu Yan and Lao Lang replied in unison.

After arranging everything, Lu Zhaoming made an excuse to leave the stronghold.

He needs to be alone and clear his mind.

Arriving at a secluded corner, Lu Zhaoming immediately contacted Lao Ma.

"Old Ma, have there been any suspicious transactions recently? Especially those related to Red Owl," Lu Zhaoming asked bluntly.

“Brother Zhaoming, you’re really well-informed.” Old Ma chuckled. “There is indeed something going on. I saw a doctor-looking man a few days ago who frequently went in and out of Chixiao’s base, and each time he carried some strange equipment. I suspect they might be up to something shady.”

doctor?

Strange instrument?

Lu Zhaoming's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately thought of the warning issued by the system.

It seems that Chi Xiao may have conducted some kind of "special experiment" on Liu Feng, implanting a psychological suggestion device that rendered him unable to act on his own.

"Old Ma, help me find out that doctor's identity and what he's been up to lately," Lu Zhaoming instructed.

"No problem, I've got it covered," Old Ma readily agreed.

After hanging up the phone, Lu Zhaoming fell into deep thought.

He needs to verify his suspicions as soon as possible and find evidence that Liu Feng is being controlled in order to completely solve this problem.

Back at the base, Lu Zhaoming casually said to Liu Feng, "By the way, Liu Feng, I have some important intelligence here, about Red Owl's secret arms depot. Would you like to take a look?"

Liu Feng's eyes immediately lit up: "Of course I want to see! Let me see it now!"

Lu Zhaoming's lips curled up slightly, revealing a barely perceptible smile.

He pulled a forged map from his pocket and handed it to Liu Feng: "This is the location of the secret armory. Study it carefully; it might come in very handy."

Liu Feng took the map and examined it carefully.

Lu Zhaoming silently observed his reaction from the side.

Sure enough, not long after, Liu Feng couldn't hold back any longer and made an excuse to leave the stronghold.

Lu Zhaoming immediately signaled Su Li and Qinglian to follow.

He secretly followed behind, observing Liu Feng's actions from a distance.
