Chapter 121 When it rains, it pours

Lu Zhaoming patted him on the shoulder and said with a smile, "I know this won't be easy, but only you can help me now. Don't worry, you'll definitely get your share of the benefits after it's done."

Old Wolf's eyes lit up, and he immediately patted his chest and said, "No problem, leave it to me! I'll go arrange it right away!"

Watching the old wolf's departing figure, Lu Zhaoming

The situation is worse than he imagined.

To test the stability of the trial storm, Lu Zhaoming decided to take a risk.

He set a trap outside the stronghold, luring a small patrol into the ambush.

With the analytical abilities of his Judgment Eye, he easily found the enemy's weakness and successfully defeated him.

However, after the battle, Lu Zhaoming felt an abnormal flow of energy within his body.

He felt a wave of dizziness, and his consciousness even briefly blurred.

The system interface displayed another warning message: "Warning! The host's ability core is damaged and needs to be repaired as soon as possible, otherwise irreversible damage will occur!"

Lu Zhaoming's face was pale

Just then, Qinglian suddenly sent an urgent message.

"Brother Lu! Something's wrong! Shadow Blade has infiltrated the vicinity of the stronghold, and your target might be you!"

"What?!" Lu Zhaoming was shocked. He hadn't expected that Chi Xiao would send out assassins so quickly.

Without thinking twice, he immediately retreated to the backup safe house and used the environment to create chaos in an attempt to shake off his pursuers.

However, when he arrived at the safe house, he found himself in an elaborate trap.

A dark figure slowly emerged from the shadows; it was the twisted face he had fought earlier.

"Red Owl asked me to deliver a message—the game is over."

The shadowy figure's voice was cold and cruel, like the whisper of death.

At the critical moment, Lu Zhaoming narrowly avoided the poisoned claws of the Shadow Blade with a swift, powerful leap.

"Damn it, you're playing dirty tricks, aren't you?" he cursed, clapping his hands together and forcefully activating the remaining power of judgment within his body.

"Trial Storm, a censored version!"

A shrunken version of an energy vortex formed around him, barely blocking the Shadow Blade's further attacks.

However, the damned device buzzed around like a fly, and the Judgment Storm was suppressed, its power greatly reduced. The storm that could have scraped the enemy's skin off could now only stir up a few grains of dust.

Lu Zhaoming was filled with hatred; he wished he could dig up Chi Xiao's ancestral graves.

But he knew that now was not the time to complain.

He gritted his teeth, desperately squeezing every last bit of energy from his body in an attempt to maintain this crumbling defense.

Seeing this, Shadowblade's sneer grew even wider: "Useless. In front of my Annihilation Device, any superpower is just a paper tiger!"

"Is that so? I'll show you what a paper tiger is today!"

Lu Zhaoming suddenly abandoned his energy defense, and with a flash, he closed in.

Shadow Blade was taken aback, seemingly not expecting Lu Zhaoming to be so resolute, but his years of combat experience allowed him to react quickly, swinging his claws to meet the attack.

"clang!"

A piercing metallic clang rang out as Lu Zhaoming's energy dagger clashed violently with the claws of the Shadow Blade.

The two exchanged dozens of blows in the blink of an eye.

With his reckless fighting style and the precise targeting of weaknesses by his Judgment Eye, Lu Zhaoming managed to leave several wounds on Shadow Blade.

Finally, Lu Zhaoming seized an opportunity and delivered a vicious knee strike to Shadow Blade's abdomen, instantly rendering him unable to resist.

Immediately afterwards, the energy dagger in his hand flashed with a cold light and precisely pierced the Shadow Blade's vital point.

Shadowblade slowly collapsed to the ground. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he only uttered a whisper: "You...can't defeat Crimson Owl..."

Lu Zhaoming plopped down on the ground, panting heavily, his whole body aching as if it had fallen apart.

He wiped the blood from his face and looked at Shadowblade's corpse, but felt no relief whatsoever.

Shadowblade's dying words weighed on his heart like a boulder, making him feel vaguely uneasy...

He had a vague feeling that a huge conspiracy targeting him was slowly surfacing.

Dragging his weary body back to the base, a sense of foreboding washed over him.
