Just then, an unwelcome figure floated over like a ghost.
Qin Wan'er, this woman, still had that "I'm a pure white lotus, I'm doing this for everyone's good" expression on her face, making Lu Zhaoming's teeth itch with rage.
“Judge Lu, how could such an important operation be complete without me?” Her voice was sweet and coquettish, yet her eyes held a glint of shrewdness that was hard to detect. “I know the White Robe Army inside and out. I could find where they hide their secret stash of money with my eyes closed… no, I mean, their control center.”
Lu Zhaoming pursed his lips, his smile chilling, like a cold front blowing from Siberia.
"Oh? You know everything about her?" He drawled, as if he'd heard the funniest joke, but his eyes were so sharp they seemed to want to give her a CT scan right then and there. "Then let's see how sincere you are." His voice was soft, but it carried an undeniable sense of pressure, as if to say, "You better not try anything funny."
No sooner said than done, the system interface in Lu Zhaoming's mind started beeping again, flashing red lights like a disco: "Warning! Warning! Unknown tracking signal detected, target locked! Signal source... is being analyzed at lightning speed, host, be careful!"
Hey, this is interesting.
Lu Zhaoming raised an eyebrow, and that roguish air of his once again surfaced.
He turned his head, his gaze passing through the dilapidated window to the distant, gray, lifeless sky, a playful smile curving his lips.
This mess seems to be getting muddier the more it's stirred up, with all sorts of demons and monsters trying to get involved.
He turned around, his gaze falling once again on Qin Wan'er's "harmless" face. She was still smiling flawlessly, as if the deadly system alarm from just now was merely Lu Zhaoming's own hallucination.
“Alright,” Lu Zhaoming waved his hand lazily, as if shooing away a fly. “Since Secretary Qin is so ‘sincere,’ then… lead the way?”
