"What the hell?" Lu Zhaoming scratched his head in frustration, feeling like he had finally gotten a top-tier piece of equipment in a game, only to find out it was bound to his character. That feeling of utter chagrin was infuriating!
Just as he was at his wit's end, a clear, slightly mocking voice suddenly rang out in the safe house: "What are you looking for?"
Lu Zhaoming was startled and turned around abruptly, only to see Su Li standing behind him, smiling at him.
I have to say, this woman is truly a vixen. Every time she appears, it's like she has her own background music, making people's hearts race.
"Don't you make any noise when you walk? You're trying to scare me to death!" Lu Zhaoming said irritably, but in his mind he was quickly figuring out how this woman had suddenly appeared.
Did they discover something?
Su Li pursed her lips, walked to the table, picked up the chip, and casually played with it: "What, are you afraid I'll see something I shouldn't? Like... some unspeakable secret?"
Lu Zhaoming's heart skipped a beat; this woman was indeed not easy to deal with!
He composed himself and forced a relaxed smile. "There's no secret. I'm just researching some interesting things. By the way, what brings you here all of a sudden? Isn't it busy outside?"
Su Li gave him a charmingly disdainful look: "What, afraid I'll ruin your good time? Don't worry, I'm not interested in your secrets. I'm just here to remind you that you still owe me a favor."
Lu Zhaoming's lips twitched. This woman really never forgets to take advantage of others!
However, he wasn't in the mood to argue with her about these things right now; his priority was to figure out the secrets inside the chip.
"Don't worry, I won't forget. By the way, have you heard of 'Project Sky Dome'?" Lu Zhaoming asked tentatively.
Su Li's expression changed slightly, but she quickly returned to normal: "Project Sky Dome? Never heard of it. What, are you interested in it?"
"Just asking." Lu Zhaoming shrugged, but his doubts only deepened.
Su Li's reaction was clearly strange; she definitely knew something, but was unwilling to say it.
It seems that we'll have to rely on ourselves to find out the truth!
Lu Zhaoming took a deep breath and made a decision.
"Su Li, do me a favor, I need to go to the 'Iron Cage Market'."
"Iron Cage Market? What are you going there for? That's the biggest black market in the wasteland, a dangerous place full of all sorts of people!" Su Li frowned, clearly not fond of the place.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I need to investigate some things, and maybe I can find some clues there." Lu Zhaoming smiled mysteriously, not revealing his true purpose.
The "Iron Cage Market," as the name suggests, is like a giant iron cage, imprisoning everyone inside.
This place is filled with violence, bloodshed, and trade; it is the darkest place in the wasteland.
Lu Zhaoming disguised himself as an ordinary information broker and cautiously entered the market.
The air was filled with a variety of pungent smells, a mixture of sweat, blood, and cheap perfume, which made people feel nauseous.
Not long after entering the market, several fierce-looking, burly men blocked Lu Zhaoming's path.
"Hey, newbie, stop right there! This is Scorpion's territory. If you want to survive here, you have to follow the rules!" a burly man with a face full of scars said menacingly. A scorpion with bared fangs and claws was tattooed on his arm, making him look particularly ferocious.
Lu Zhaoming cursed inwardly, "What I feared most has come to pass!"
It seems that conducting an investigation here will not be an easy task!
"Brothers, I'm new here and don't know the rules, so please take care of me." Lu Zhaoming put on a fawning smile, took out a pack of cheap cigarettes from his pocket, and handed them over.
The burly man took the cigarette and glanced at Lu Zhaoming disdainfully: "You're smart! Hand over everything you have so we can check it!"
Although Lu Zhaoming was unhappy, he still obediently cooperated and took out all the things on his body.
Just as the burly man was inspecting Lu Zhaoming's belongings, Lu Zhaoming quietly activated the scanning function of the "Doomsday Judgment System," scanning the burly man's body.
"Beep! Communicator detected, model: XX-789, suspected to be a venomous scorpion remote communication tool."
The system notification sounded in Lu Zhaoming's mind. Lu Zhaoming's heart skipped a beat. It seemed that this burly man was Poison Scorpion's subordinate, responsible for relaying messages.
"Alright, you can go now." The burly man finished checking Lu Zhaoming's belongings and waved his hand impatiently.
Lu Zhaoming hurriedly bowed and left, but in his heart he was scheming how to use this opportunity to find the scorpion's lair.
Deep within the market, Lu Zhaoming found a woman who seemed quite mysterious.
The woman was wearing a revealing leather outfit, with heavy makeup on her face, and exuded a seductive aura.
"Beautiful lady, I'd like to ask you something." Lu Zhaoming walked up to the woman, revealing what he considered a charming smile.
The woman sized Lu Zhaoming up and down, a meaningful smile playing on her lips: "Oh? What do you want to know? As long as you can afford the price, I can tell you anything."
“I want to know information about the ‘Azure Core,’ and price is not an issue,” Lu Zhaoming said, feigning generosity.
"How about this, woman? I'll give you some fake information about the 'Azure Core,' just to make friends, okay?"
"False information?" Lu Zhaoming frowned. This woman was clearly playing him!
"Don't be in such a hurry. Even though it's fake information, it might bring you some unexpected gains." The woman smiled charmingly and handed Lu Zhaoming a slip of paper.
