Chapter 10: Igwynte
The Kingdom of Plit is an island country, separated from the mainland countries by a not-too-wide strait. As an island country, the Kingdom of Plit is composed of three large islands, one large and two small ones, and Igwent is located on a raised peninsula on the southwest edge of the main island of Plit.
As an important city in the southwest of the kingdom, Igwinter has developed well thanks to the mineral resources in the mountains of the southwest peninsula and the fisheries on the west coast. In terms of comprehensive development, although Igwinter is not among the top cities in the entire kingdom, it can still occupy a considerable position.
The sky was clear and the sun shone on the streets of Igwynt. Stone buildings eight or nine stories high were lined up on both sides of the street. The gray exterior walls were more or less carved with decorative reliefs, and some window sills were even decorated with sculptures.
The storefronts on the ground floor of the houses facing the street were all utilized without exception. There were rows of shops with rows of signs and a wide variety of goods displayed in the glass windows, from the ladies' large, luxurious dresses to the children's exquisite toys, which attracted the curious glances of passing gentlemen and the eager desires of the street beggars.
The main roads were paved with stone slabs. Although many of them were damaged, the carriages did not raise dust when running on them. The sidewalks were paved with neatly arranged tiles. There was a street lamp every few dozen steps. Compared to Wokkan, there were more chimneys spewing black smoke in the distant sky.
Standing on the street of Igwynt, a silver-haired girl wearing a gray long skirt, a plaid sleeved top, and black leather shoes was carrying a suitcase and observing her surroundings curiously.
"Is this... Igwinter?" Dorothy said with emotion as she looked at the strange city in front of her. In Dorothy's memory, she had been coming to this city since she was a child. For many young people in the village, Igwinter was the place where dreams converged. No matter whether they were male or female, willing or not, many young people in the village came to this city to make a living, and their only contact with their families was often the little money they sent back every month.
No one dared to say that they could make a name for themselves in this city. Most people just became cogs in the city's ever-growing operation, toiling day and night in dangerous factories. People like Greg were just exceptions among exceptions.
"So...when will my cheap brother arrive?"
Muttering this, Dorothy looked around again, and this time, at the end of the sidewalk, she saw a familiar figure.
Among the crowd there, a short-haired young man in a jacket, shirt, and black trousers was looking around with a hint of confusion. But when he saw the person he was facing, the confusion on his face disappeared in an instant, replaced by a face full of joy.
"Oh...Sir...Dorothy, here you are!"
With a bright smile, Greg opened his arms warmly and walked quickly towards Dorothy, his sister.
…
On the main street of Igwynte, a black carriage was moving quickly under the driver's posture. In the carriage, Dorothy and Greg sat facing each other.
"Oh, you know, Dorothy, I was so panicked when I saw in the newspaper yesterday that a car was intercepted by robbers on the road from Purple Mountain to Wokkan. You know, according to the time you set out, the possibility that you were on that road at that time is very high."
Still with a smile on his face, Greg said in a thankful tone, and Dorothy replied with a smile.
"I've read that report, too. It's really scary. But luckily, I was delayed for a while because I had to buy some clothes. Maybe that's why I missed those robbers. May the Virgin Mary bless me..." Dorothy covered her chest with her hands, a pious and grateful expression on her face.
㱗The most popular religion in this world is called the Glorious Religion, also known as the Glorious Redemption Religion or the Glorious Holy Day Religion. Except for some pagan countries in the east, the mainstream belief of the remaining countries in the entire continent is almost all Glorious Religion.
The Glowing Cult believes in a god named the Glowing Savior. According to mythology, this god drove out all the evil demons that wreaked havoc on the world, brought light to the dark, purgatory-like world, and brought salvation to mankind.
After completing his mission of saving the world, the god returned to his residence, the Temple of the Sun. In order to continue to protect all living beings, he separated himself into three incarnations, who watched over the earth from the zenith and prevented the counterattack of demons and evil gods.
Although the Glowing Savior is the supreme god of the Glowing Church, he is not the main object of faith. The Glowing Church mainly believes in the three incarnations of the Glowing Savior.
The Father represents judgment and authority, and symbolizes order. The Virgin Mary represents love and tolerance, and symbolizes mercy. The Son represents conquest and expansion, and symbolizes victory.
The Father is portrayed as a majestic monarch, the Mother is portrayed as a kind woman, and the Son is portrayed as a young warrior.
Among the vast number of followers of the Radiant Light Church, not many people directly believe in the Radiant Light Savior. Most of them believe in His three incarnations. Among them, the leaders of the royal family and other people in power mostly believe in the Holy Father. Soldiers, officers, mercenaries, gangsters and other professions that deal with force, as well as various ambitious people, adventurers, and adventurers who are determined to make a name for themselves are almost all believers of the Son of God. As for the working people and vulnerable groups in society, who are the largest number, they all throw themselves into the arms of the Virgin Mary.
For example, Dorothy and Aunt Hannah in the village were all lower class people who hoped to live a stable life, so they were all faithful believers of the Virgin Mary. Greg, an ambitious young man who loved fighting since childhood and hoped to make a difference in the big city, obviously loved the Son of God.
"Clothes? Ah, I almost didn't realize that Dorothy is wearing them so beautifully. They are not like the gray and fluffy clothes she wore in the village. They must be new." After listening to Dorothy's words, Gregor glanced at Dorothy in surprise and said.
"Well, I worked as a tutor in my town, teaching people to read and writing letters for others, and I made a little money. I thought since I was going to live in the city, I would buy some clothes and dress up well, but I didn't expect that I took a long time and accidentally missed the bus." Dorothy nodded and continued, and Gregor responded.
"Fortunately, I wasted time. Otherwise, it would have been bad if your convoy had encountered bandits. Besides, I happened to have gone on an unplanned business trip not long ago, and I just got back to Igwinter this morning. If you had come according to the original time, I would not have been able to pick you up."
Greg scratched his head and said this, while Dorothy kept smiling. She naturally knew why Greg planned to go on a business trip.
"By the way, brother, what good job did your grandpa Igwint find? He was able to afford to rent a big apartment and bring me over to live with him. The three brothers of Jack's family next door, grandpa Igwint, have been in business for four decades, but he still can't afford to bring his family over to live with him?"
Trying to make her eyes full of curiosity, Dorothy looked at Greg and asked.
