Chapter 17 The Relics, The Murderer (4/4)

“Years ago, we started a company together, and I was very dedicated to it. I always contributed to our business. People say that good brothers shouldn't do business together, but I didn't believe it. I thought our friendship wouldn't be affected by anything... until someone in the company framed me for embezzling funds and falsifying accounts.” Wei Zhentian said with a pained expression, “Faced with those accusations, I thought Su Youzhi would believe me, just as I trusted him. But I never expected... he would actually believe those hurtful remarks…”

“After that, Su Youzhi’s attitude towards me changed. No matter how I explained, he wouldn’t listen. He always felt that I had done something that harmed the company and violated the law…”

"Ten years ago, on September 4th, Su Youzhi asked to meet me. I explained a lot to him, making sure I was innocent. Su Youzhi was also willing to go back and investigate thoroughly."

“I saw that it was getting dark and I thought it was going to rain, so I went back. I also advised Su Youzhi to go home and be with his wife and children. I told him that company matters were secondary and that he should spend more time with his wife and children.”

"But I didn't expect that the day after I left, news of Su Youzhi and his wife's accident would make the news."

As Wei Zhentian spoke, bloodshot eyes appeared in his aged eyes, and he choked up a little, "He and I have been good brothers for so many years. Seeing him get into trouble, I am also heartbroken."

"If I find out who killed them, I will not let them get away with it! I will make sure they are brought to the police station and executed on the spot!"

Su Wantang clenched her fists, her dark, cold eyes glaring at him. "You're lying!"

"Wantang, you don't suspect me of being the murderer of your parents, do you?" Wei Zhentian looked at her with a pained expression. "You are someone I watched grow up. After your parents passed away, I even thought about adopting you and treating you like my own daughter. If it weren't for your uncle's family interfering, I would have adopted you."

"Uncle Wei doesn't know whose instigation you've been listening to, making you so suspicious of Uncle Wei... I'm really heartbroken by your behavior," Wei Zhentian said, his face full of sadness.

"Alright, let's leave it at that for today's investigation." Wang Hai said, standing up. "Su Wantang, let's go."

“But…” Su Wantang frowned. Was the investigation over already?

"We'll talk about it later," Wang Hai said.

Su Wantang had no choice but to suppress her displeasure and get up to leave with Wang Hai.

"Are you leaving already? Wan Tang, why don't you have dinner at Uncle Wei's house before you go?" Wei Zhentian urged her to stay.

"No, thank you." Su Wantang's voice was cold as she turned and quickly left.

"Then I'll see you off." Wei Zhentian escorted them all the way to the door. "Take care on the road."

After watching them leave, Wei Zhentian's kind expression suddenly changed, turning gloomy.

"Zhentian, I never thought that after all this time, this little brat would still be able to trace it back to you!" the woman said, nestled beside Wei Zhentian.

Wei Zhentian snorted coldly, "Back then, even her parents couldn't do anything to me, so what can a little girl like her do?"

"So much time has passed, and there's no evidence left. Even if she can guess, she can't do anything to me."

Wei Zhentian narrowed his eyes, put his arm around the woman in his arms, and turned to leave.

On the way, Su Wantang frowned and said, "Officer Wang, this matter is definitely not that simple. I have a feeling that Wei Zhentian is the murderer who killed my parents!" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
