Chapter 20 The Mother's Murderer (3/4)

"This is outrageous! How dare you talk to your father like that! Get back to your room right now!" Wei Zhentian said coldly. "From today onwards, without my order, no one is allowed to give her a single meal! I need to teach her a lesson!"

Wei Juan stared in disbelief at the furious Wei Zhentian before her.

Was he really angry because of the tone of my voice when I spoke to him?

Or was it because her words exposed his true feelings, causing him to become angry and embarrassed?

Wei Juan thought back to when she was little, when her mother was still alive and her father was very good to her. Her father would buy her pretty little dresses and cute little dolls. He would also lift her up, kiss and hug her, and lift her high in the air.

Back then, I felt like the happiest little girl in the world, loved by both my parents.

But after her mother passed away, her father completely changed. He only loved Wei Lili and her mother, forgetting her mother and never mentioning her. He couldn't even be bothered to give her a gentle look.

Was it because my father was too good at pretending before, or did he gradually change after starting a new family?

Wei Juan realized that she seemed to have never really understood her father.

Her heart felt as if it had been immersed in ice water, chilling her to the bone.

...

And so Wei Juan was locked in her room.

She was locked up for three days and three nights without anyone giving her a drop of water or a bite of food.

Sometimes she would wonder if Wei Zhentian would shed a single tear for her if she really died, or feel even a moment of sadness for her, even if only for a moment.

But in reality, she knew it wouldn't happen.

If he truly had even the slightest fatherly affection for her, how could he have refused to give her a single bite of food or a drop of water for three whole days and nights?

Didn't he know he would die of thirst or starvation?

If Wei Lili had said one or two things he didn't like, would he have been so furious that he locked her up for three days and three nights?

He won't.

Wei Juan smiled bitterly, tears streaming down her face.

She was starving, her stomach was empty, her body felt weak and powerless, her lips were extremely dry, her throat was hoarse, and she sat listlessly on the floor tiles.

At that moment, the bedroom door was pushed open from the outside.

Sunlight streamed in through the open door, stinging Wei Juan's eyes. She sluggishly raised her hand to shield her eyes, and only after her vision adjusted did she see the person in front of her clearly. Wei Lili was wearing a new, pretty lambskin dress, holding a bowl of spoiled porridge, looking down at her with a mocking and disdainful gaze.

"Wei Juan, look at yourself now, don't you look like a dog?" Wei Lili looked at her amusedly.

When she saw that the person who came was not Wei Zhentian, Wei Juan's eyes dimmed, and she lowered her gaze, which fell on the toe of her shoe with a tear.

Unlike her own worn-out, cracked shoes, Wei Lili wore imported lambskin leather shoes with pretty bows on them, which looked absolutely gorgeous.

"You're not still hoping Dad will come to see you, are you?" Wei Lili stared at her with mockery in her eyes. "Keep dreaming! Dad's fed up with you! He's fed up with your damned mother!"
