Chapter 43: Another meritorious deed! (2/4)

He had neither the right nor the face to demand that she remain chaste for him for the past three years.

Seeing him now living a happy and fulfilling life, and seeing his family so blissful and sweet, even if he felt resentful and reluctant, he could only choose to offer his blessings and silently withdraw from the relationship.

What right does he have to destroy her happiness and their family?

And just like that, he and his former lover became complete strangers.

But all these years, he has always thought of her. He has decided that she is the one for him in this life, and he will never fall in love with anyone else.

Over the years, matchmakers have constantly introduced him to potential partners, including many young, beautiful, well-educated, and virtuous women. However, without exception, he has never shown any interest in any of them.

He couldn't stop thinking about her.

Over the years, every time he woke up in the middle of the night, all that came to mind were the sweet and happy moments they shared.

Therefore, he did not look for another partner and chose to remain single.

Zheng Feng often wondered if the organization hadn't assigned him to that mission back then, would the two of them have never been separated?

If they hadn't gone on that mission, their child might be the same age as the child her husband had.

Although he only caught a glimpse of the little girl from afar, Zheng Feng felt an inexplicable sense of closeness and familiarity; he really liked the little girl.

Therefore, he adopted a little girl from an orphanage.

He raised the little girl and loved her as if she were his own child. Now the child has grown into a beautiful young woman.

It's not a big deal not to get married.

Now that he has his daughter by his side, he should be content.

Zheng Feng forced himself to come back to his senses and simply stopped thinking about those old stories.

He lay back down on his bunk and began to rest with his eyes closed.

...

The train moved smoothly, with regular clattering sounds and passengers talking in hushed tones throughout the carriage.

With nothing to do, Su Wantang opened her package and reached her slender, fair hand inside.

From an angle unseen by Lu Linchuan, Su Wantang took out a pen and three sheets of paper from her spatial storage.

“I have a friend who’s all alone in Shanghai and feels very lonely. I’m just writing her a letter on the train since I have nothing else to do. I’ll mail it to her when we get to the island,” Su Wantang said, sitting half-upright on the berth of his sleeper car. He placed a pillow under his knees and put a pen and paper on the pillow.

"Hmm." Lu Linchuan hummed softly. "You get tired easily doing this. Why don't you tell me what you want to write, and I'll write it for you?"

"No." Su Wantang smiled lightly, "This is a secret between us girls, I don't want you to write it down."

"You're not allowed to look either."

Su Wantang covered the letter with a coquettish smile, her dark and soft almond-shaped eyes glaring at him.

"Okay." Lu Linchuan chuckled, reaching out his large hand to gently ruffle the woman's soft, black hair. "I won't look at it, you just write yours."

How could his wife be so adorable?

Lu Linchuan's heart softened completely.

"Um."

Su Wantang held the pen and wrote on the envelope stroke by stroke.

[Wei Juan, I'm already on the train to the island as I write this letter; I'll arrive in about two days. When I mail this letter, it will mean I've already been born on the island.]

I've now registered my marriage with my love. He treats me very well, takes good care of me, and is very considerate. He's a wonderful man. I know I'll be very happy living with him.
