Chapter 43: Another meritorious deed! (3/4)

How have you been lately? Are you getting used to living alone in that apartment? Do you feel lonely?

How are you feeling? Is your body recovering well?

On the train, I met a man named Zheng Feng, my wife's superior. What's quite a coincidence is that we were on the same train, and I even happened to save his life. The most striking thing is that he looks remarkably like you, especially your eyes and eyebrows – they're practically identical. I told him your name and asked if he knew you, but he said no, explaining that many people in the world look alike. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

[I'll continue writing to you after I've been staying on the island for a while. I'll tell you about any interesting or new things that happen. I look forward to your reply.]

The man watched as Su Wantang's fair fingers held the pen and wrote a letter on the envelope stroke by stroke. She lowered her eyes and wrote earnestly, looking obedient, soft, and cute. The corners of his lips unconsciously curved into a slight smile.

How come his wife is so beautiful?

He's so lucky to have married such a wonderful wife.

only……

Lu Linchuan thought for a moment, was his wife's friend really that important to her?

He kept writing letters to her even on the train.

But in all these years, I haven't written a single letter to myself.

For a moment, Lu Linchuan felt a pang of sadness and bitterness in his heart.

"Wife, this friend of yours... is very important to you, right?" Lu Linchuan asked, his throat slightly hoarse.

Su Wantang had finished writing the letter. She neatly folded the letter and put it back in her package. She hadn't bought envelopes or stamps yet, but she would buy them when she got to the island and mail the envelopes and package together.

Su Wantang looked at him in surprise, "Yes, of course it's important. It's Wei Juan. Back then, it was thanks to her that I told the police about Wei Zhentian's crimes, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to avenge my parents."

"I see." Lu Linchuan's bitterness lessened somewhat.

The train continued its journey, and Su Wantang lay down on her berth to rest, while Lu Linchuan held a newspaper and read it intently.

Suddenly, the door at one end of the carriage was opened, and the train conductor led two uniformed police officers over.

The noise inside the carriage instantly subsided, and everyone's eyes turned to the unexpected guests, wondering what had happened.

The police officers walked steadily, their eyes scanning the carriage before finally stopping in front of Lu Linchuan and Su Wantang's seats.

The leader was an older police officer with a square face and a serious expression, but his eyes revealed a sense of righteousness.

He saluted Lu Linchuan and Su Wantang in a loud voice, making sure that everyone in half the carriage could hear him.

"Are you Comrade Lu Linchuan and Comrade Su Wantang?"

Lu Linchuan put down his newspaper and nodded calmly. "We are."

The surrounding passengers craned their necks and pricked up their ears.

"I am Wang Jianguo from the Municipal Public Security Bureau," the leading police officer introduced himself. "I have come here specifically to thank the two comrades for their assistance in cracking a major child trafficking case and for making a significant contribution to the arrest of the traffickers!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire carriage erupted in a commotion.
