Chapter 78 Suspecting this is her uncle (2/2)

Lu Linchuan was taken aback for a moment, then grasped her hand and said firmly, "Okay, I'll go with you. Don't be afraid, no matter what the outcome, I'll be there for you."

Su Wantang's eyes welled up with tears, and her nose stung with emotion. She leaned on his shoulder and whispered, "Thank you... thank you so much." But deep down, a trace of unease lingered—if the babies had truly been switched at birth, then whose child was her uncle, Zhang Hongwei?

A few days later, Qin Tian recovered even faster. Taking advantage of a moment when no one was looking, Su Wantang mixed the spiritual spring water with warm water and served it to him. Qin Tian was completely unaware of the trick; he only felt that the water was sweet and refreshing, and after drinking it, he felt much better.

That day, the hospital room door was suddenly pushed open. A simply dressed middle-aged woman led a boy who looked to be about ten years old into the room. The woman was visibly excited, and her eyes welled up with tears when she saw Qin Tian: "Old Qin! You scared me to death!"

Qin Tian patted her hand with a smile: "It's alright, I'm alive and well, aren't I? Xiao Feng, quickly call for help, this is your father's savior, Dr. Su."

The boy named Xiaofeng only glanced coldly at Su Wantang and muttered, "Oh." His attitude was chillingly indifferent.

Su Wantang's heart tightened, but she remained outwardly calm, only nodding slightly. Qin Tian's wife, Li Xiumei, however, kept thanking her, her enthusiasm bordering on deliberate: "Dr. Su, we are so grateful to you! Our whole family owes you a great debt!"

The atmosphere was tense when Qin Tian suddenly spoke, his tone calm but leaving no room for argument: "Xiumei, I mentioned something to Dr. Su. I want to take her back to her hometown; there are some things... that need to be clarified."

Li Xiumei's smile froze, a hint of displeasure flashing in her eyes: "Going back to our hometown? What's the matter? She's an outsider, what's she doing following along?" Her voice rose, clearly showing her resistance.

Xiao Feng also pouted and muttered in dissatisfaction, "Dad, what does our family's business have to do with her? What's the point of bringing her along!"

Qin Tian frowned, his tone becoming more serious: "I must find out the truth about this. Dr. Su saved my life, and besides..." He paused, his gaze sweeping over Su Wantang with a complicated expression, "I have some doubts, and I have to face them with her."

Li Xiumei's face was grim. Her lips moved, but she ultimately didn't argue. She turned and glared at Xiao Feng, hissing in a low voice, "Shut up! Listen to your father!" But her eyes clearly showed resentment.

Su Wantang stood aside, sensing Li Xiumei's hostility and noticing Xiao Feng's rejection, but she didn't take it to heart.

If Qin Tian is her own uncle, then she only needs to care about her uncle and doesn't need to care about anyone else.

"Xiao Tang, don't mind her. This child is just too resilient." Qin Tian looked at her apologetically.

“It’s okay.” Su Wantang shook her head.

Next, Lu Linchuan began packing his luggage for his trip to the Northwest with Su Wantang.

This time, Lu Linchuan applied for leave.

Inside the room, the open suitcases were already packed full.

Lu Linchuan, however, wasn't satisfied. He was holding a brand-new, thick overcoat and pressing it forcefully into the corner of the suitcase. His movements were slow, but they exuded an unyielding stubbornness, as if he wanted to pack in all the care he could think of.

Su Wantang leaned against the door frame, looking at the man who wished he could move his entire house to her, feeling both warm inside and wanting to laugh.

"Alright, if you stuff any more boxes in, they'll burst. I'm not fleeing a disaster."

No sooner had the words left her lips than Zhao Jing's loud voice rang out from the courtyard gate: "Wantang! Are you home? Your sister Sun and I came over to check on you!" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
