"She's not an outsider!" Qin Tian pointed at Su Wantang and roared in a hoarse voice, "She's my sister's only bloodline, my own niece! She's carrying my great-grandson! She's my family!"
He glared at Li Xiumei with bloodshot eyes, "You humiliated her in front of the neighbors today, which is a disgrace to my reputation, Qin Tian! If you can't tolerate her, you can't tolerate me!"
Qin Tian's chest heaved violently as he stepped forward again, grabbed Li Xiumei who was still crying and cursing, dragged her back to Su Wantang, and commanded, word by word, "I'll say it one last time: apologize to Wantang!"
"No! I did nothing wrong! I'd rather die than..."
"If you don't apologize, we're getting a divorce!"
Qin Tian's words were like a bucket of ice water poured over Li Xiumei's head. The courtyard fell silent instantly, and even Li Xiumei's cries were caught in her throat.
She looked at Qin Tian in disbelief. This man had been with her for half her life, and no matter how much they argued, he had never uttered those two words.
Qin Tian looked at her, his eyes devoid of any hint of jest, only filled with unyielding coldness and resolute determination. "You choose."
Li Xiumei panicked completely. She had been throwing a tantrum, acting recklessly, relying on Qin Tian's consideration for their marital bond and his belief that he wouldn't really do anything to her. But now, that confidence seemed about to snap.
She collapsed to the ground and began to wail, pounding the earth as she cried, lamenting, "What terrible things have I done... I've worked so hard my whole life, and now I'm being kicked out of my home..."
Qin Tian simply watched coldly, without the slightest emotion.
Lu Linchuan stepped forward, shielding Su Wantang behind him, his cold gaze falling on Li Xiumei as if she were an inanimate object.
The murmurs outside the courtyard grew louder, and Li Xiumei's sobs gradually subsided. She knew that continuing the commotion would only make her look worse. She got up from the ground, her hair disheveled, her face covered in dirt and tears, looking utterly wretched.
She walked up to Su Wantang, head down, and squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth: "I apologize...I apologize, okay...I'm...I'm sorry."
The voice was as soft as a mosquito's hum, yet it was filled with resentment and bitterness.
"Speak louder! Haven't you eaten?!" Qin Tian said sternly.
"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said those things!" Li Xiumei said, tears streaming down her face.
Su Wantang simply looked at her quietly without saying a word.
Qin Tian dragged her outside the cage building and, with a stern face, roared at the neighbors who came out after hearing the noise, "Come out, everyone! Come out and listen!"
He pointed at Li Xiumei and said to everyone, "My wife has been spreading rumors outside these past few days. Today I'm going to make things clear to everyone!"
"First of all! I gave my niece money voluntarily! It wasn't because she cheated me! She's my older sister's only daughter, and she's suffered so much since she was little. As her uncle, it's only right that I help her out!"
"Secondly! She's not just my niece, she's my savior! If it weren't for her, I, Qin Tian, would have been dead long ago! She gave me my life, and I'd give her my life if she wanted it, let alone money!"
"From now on, anyone who dares to gossip behind my back or say a bad word about my niece is going against me, Qin Tian!"
His words were resounding and the courtyard fell silent.
Everyone was stunned; the look of pity towards Li Xiumei instantly turned into disdain and mockery. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
