With the shop arrangements settled, choosing a farm location isn't something that can be done overnight.
When Yu Yin returned home, her grandparents were busy in the yard. Her grandmother's leg had recovered very well and she could move around freely again. The doctor said she had fully recovered.
"Grandpa and Grandma, I'm back."
"Yinyin is back! Come and see! The tomatoes are turning red, and the cucumbers have grown quite a bit. They look so appealing and appetizing. I'll make a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes for lunch; the kids love it."
Yu Yin was also happy. The vegetable seeds in the space were planted outside and grew well, with many flowers and a high fruit-bearing rate... There were many advantages, and it was worth looking forward to.
Yu Yin went inside to change her clothes. Grandma and Aunt Hu were enthusiastically picking vegetables with baskets, reluctant to part with them, as they looked so lovely hanging on the seedlings.
Pick enough for one meal; don't pick the rest that aren't fully ripe yet, it would be a waste.
Uncle Hu was the happiest. His vegetable-growing skills finally came in handy, and watching the vegetables change little by little every day filled him with an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
The process of a seed sprouting, growing, flowering, and bearing fruit is so therapeutic.
Lu Shurui has been studying hard lately, as the exam is just around the corner. Until the very last moment, no one can guarantee a good result.
Yu Yin had just come downstairs when she saw Yu Kang push open the door and come in.
"Have you finished your exams?"
"The exams are over. Second sister, you've all been assigned jobs after graduation. Where did you go?"
Yu Kang rushed over to see how his second sister's job placement was after she finished her exams.
"That's the company where I'm interning. I'll be officially onboarding the day after tomorrow and starting work. What about you, when are you going back?"
"I'll buy the tickets tomorrow, and then I'll go back. I'll be back in a few days."
Two days ago, Yu's father wrote a letter saying that Yu's grandfather was not in good health and missed his grandson, so he asked Yu Kang to take a vacation and go back to visit him.
When Yu Kang was little, he lived alone at his grandparents' house. His grandparents treated him very well, and he couldn't help but go back to visit them.
Yu Yin never thought of going back. She went to Yunnan Province with her father when she was twelve or thirteen years old, and had only been back once before getting married. She was quiet and slow to react when she was little. Although her grandparents didn't mistreat her, they didn't pay much attention to her either.
At most, when Yu Kang goes back, she will bring him some nutritional supplements as a small token of her appreciation.
"Okay, you decide for yourself. You're not a child anymore. I'll buy some nutritional supplements and you can bring them back for me."
"Understood, Second Sister."
Yu Kang knew that his second sister had little affection for her relatives on her mother's side. She was disliked and bullied by her cousins when she was young, and it was always her second brother who protected her. Besides her second brother, she didn't even get along with his father, let alone his mother.
The next day, Yu Yin took the children, who were on holiday, to the mall. It was the change of seasons, and the children's clothes were too small.
An'an doesn't like dresses; she prefers neat sportswear, which is good for her workouts. She's slowly starting to like dresses, especially long, flowing ones. Pingping and Kuaile don't currently have any particular preferences when it comes to clothes; comfort is all they need.
Seeing the pretty dresses, Yu Yin couldn't resist buying two for Manman, and one each for Yu Anna and her second sister's daughter, Duoduo. An'an, seeing her mother looking at her, quickly waved her hand, saying she wouldn't wear such long dresses; they were too cumbersome.
After buying the clothes, Yu Yin bought shoes for the children: sandals and canvas shoes, two pairs for each child. She also bought silk pajamas for the grandparents, which will be cool and comfortable in the summer. The elderly liked them, while Yu Yin preferred pure cotton fabric for its breathability.
Back home, the children sorted out their outgrown clothes, tidying up a huge pile.
Yu Yin picked out a few clothes that Duoduo could wear, and prepared the rest for He Dong, Liu Hang and Lü Ping's children.
Yu Yin packed out two large bags of clothes. With four children in the family, they would go through a lot of clothes every year. Pingping and An'an's clothes were too big for Kuaikuai and Manman. She would keep some of the clothes that had sentimental value, and give the rest away.
"Mom, please have Auntie and the others come over tonight. I promised Zhuangzhuang and Duoduo that I would ask them to come and pick the vegetables when they are ready."
An'an had delicious scrambled eggs with tomatoes and cucumber salad for lunch. Remembering her promise, she quickly asked her mother for permission.
"Okay, I'll go to the store in a bit. I'll call your second aunt when I pass by the post office and ask her and the others to come over after they get off work."
"Mom, ask Zhuangzhuang and Duoduo if they want to come to our house for a few days. The Children's Palace starts in a few days, so we won't have time to play together."
An'an wants to play basketball with Zhuangzhuang, but Kuaikuai is too young and always fouls, and he cheats when he loses.
"Okay, I'll ask your second aunt later."
Yu Yin took a breather, then used her bicycle to carry two large bags of clothes and shoes to the dry goods store.
"What is this, Sister Yu Yin?"
When Lü Ping saw Yu Yin carrying two large bags in, she quickly ran over to help.
Is this some new product?
Liang Chao was also confused. He hadn't heard of any new varieties.
"No, An'an and the others were tidying up clothes today. These are the clothes that the four of them wore out. They're not worn out yet. I brought them over. Take a look and see if any of them are suitable for your children. If you don't mind, please choose one. It would be such a waste to throw them away."
"Sister Yu Yin, what's there to complain about? In every family, the older children wear the clothes and the younger ones wear them. If you can find clothes from a relative, it means you have a very good relationship with them. Normally, no one would give them away!"
Lu Ping thought Yu Yin was overthinking it; finding clothes that were too small for her at this time was already a pretty good thing.
"Okay, as long as you don't mind. There are also shoes and boots. Call He Dong and Liu Hang, and you can pick them out together. Take them home if any of your kids can wear them."
"Okay, Sister Yu Yin, we'll divide them after get off work. Let's put these away for now, there will be more customers soon."
Yu Yin put her things down; she still had to go to the post office.
"Okay, I'm leaving now. I have things to do at home. Brother Liang, let me know if there's any progress on what we talked about before. We'll take our time looking and only go when we find something suitable."
"I know, I'll talk to you if I find someone suitable."
Yu Yin went to the nearby post office and called her second sister.
"Okay, Yinyin, I understand. I'll send a message to Zhuangzhuang and ask him to bring his sister over. If she wants to stay at your house for a few days, she can pack her own clothes."
"Second sister, why don't you call your husband too? He can come over for dinner tonight."
Lu Erjie and Yu Yin are not secretive; over the years, they have gotten along like sisters.
When Yu Yin got home, she told Aunt Hu that they would be having guests that evening, so she should prepare extra food, using vegetables from the yard. She had just bought pork ribs and would stew them that night. The green beans were ready in the morning, so she would stew some that too.
When Lu Shurui returned, Zhuangzhuang and Duoduo had already arrived. Cheng Laosan was at the daycare, and his second sister brought him over that evening.
"Zhuangzhuang and Duoduo are here?"
"Second Uncle, I heard you're going to take the postgraduate entrance exam. How's your preparation going? You're sure you'll pass, right?"
Zhuangzhuang thinks his second uncle is amazing; he knows everything and can solve any problem. Zhuangzhuang, who is already in junior high school, isn't a particularly good student and envies his second uncle, who is a good student, and Pingping.
"It should be fine, but we'll have to see the final results. You guys go have fun, I'm going to change my clothes."
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu watched a group of children playing and felt happy. This is how brothers and sisters should be!
