Chapter 35 Jealousy and rivalry
Everyone sat around the table to eat, and the rule of three meals a day was set by Guan Zhiwei.
Those soldiers were training in the mountains, eating one meal a day in the morning and one in the evening, and they weren't with them.
The fragrant meat was served.
This meat...how peculiar! What is it?
The village chief squinted and said, "I'm sixty years old, and this is the first time I've ever eaten this kind of meat."
The people at the table looked around, all with an indescribable sense of pride.
Hei Lao Er laughed: "Everyone eats this for the first time in their life. If it weren't for Xiao Guan, I wouldn't even dare to imagine that I would be able to eat worm meat one day."
"What?!" The village chief was so shocked he almost fell off his stool.
Everyone knows that Guan Zhiwei fought a bear, but bears and tigers are not even in the same league.
With her dog-toothed chin practically pointing to the sky, she gestured as she said, "That day, when Xiao Guan came back, she was carrying that big tiger on her back. The tiger's fur was almost covering her. She was just standing there, and I thought the tiger had become a spirit."
"She can fight tigers, maybe she's a tiger spirit." The village chief thought that no ordinary young woman could have such strength; she must be a tiger spirit to have such power.
Dogtooth shook his head: "Xiao Guan can't be just a tiger spirit; she has to be a deity." As for whether she's a proper deity, that's another story.
The village chief looked at the plate of meat and sighed deeply, "It's such a waste to give such precious food to an old man like me. It should be given to a noble person!"
He felt that this important person seemed quite extraordinary, and if he were willing to step forward, he might be able to resolve the Chen family's troubles.
"Tiger meat won't cure a deaf person; a deaf person needs dragon meat," Dogtooth muttered.
"Hey, don't talk nonsense," Black Second Brother stopped him.
“That’s right, that’s right,” the village chief chimed in, afraid that the person on the chair would hear him.
Dogtooth, feeling rebellious, shouted, "Who am I afraid of? I'm just afraid he won't hear me! Everyone's worried here, and he's just ignoring it!"
Everyone's expression changed drastically, fearing that Gao Huan would be angry.
Gao Huan remained motionless in the chair.
What are you all talking about? Why is it so lively?
Guan Zhiwei walked in from outside, carrying a honeycomb in her hand. She could vaguely hear a commotion.
Dogtooth's expression immediately changed. He ran forward and took the thing from her hand. When he saw that it was a beehive, he asked worriedly, "Xiao Guan, have you been stung?"
"No, they don't come near me. Maybe I smell like a tiger." Guan Zhiwei handed over the beehive. "Here you go."
Dog Tooth was delighted; he really loves sweets.
"Take this, mix it with some hot water, and give it to Silang to drink."
"..."
Why should he? Does he even understand how to properly consume this honey?
Dogtooth gritted his teeth, glanced at Gao Huan, and complained directly: "The village chief said that the Chen family is coming to cause trouble. He's gone too far. He's partly to blame for causing this trouble, but he doesn't care at all and just sits there sunbathing."
Guan Zhiwei was very dissatisfied and clicked her tongue, "They're supposed to be sunbathing, but why are you still using an umbrella?"
She walked over and shoved him twice. Gao Huan's head lolled to the side, and he leaned against her. She checked his breath again—oh, it wasn't that she ignored him, he just snapped dead.
Dogtooth gestured, "He's shameless! He even took advantage of you while sleeping, leaning against you!"
Guan Zhiwei thought to herself, "People who don't love you will think you were just sleeping in even if you die."
She immediately picked him up and carried him back into the house.
"Hey, he sleeps all day and still thinks he's right? He even needs to be carried back to his room. Doesn't he have legs?" Dogtooth was so angry he didn't know what to say, he just wanted to go crazy on the spot.
"Exactly, exactly, we should hug Dog Tooth."
"Yeah, give me a hug." Dogtooth replied instinctively.
Immediately, a chill ran down my spine, and I stared wide-eyed at the side.
"He's not even fully grown yet, and he's already learning to be jealous of women." The second brother winked at him.
"I must say, our little dog has some good looks too, with those big eyes and a pert nose." Madam Feng said with a mischievous grin.
Dog Tooth's face instantly turned red, as if on fire: "No, I'm just afraid that Xiao Guan will be fooled by that pretentious person."
What a precious mouth!
What precious legs!
He's just a pretentious jerk!
Guan Zhiwei's first thought was that Gao Huan had choked on blood again. She pried open his jaw and touched inside, and a lot of blood gushed out. Only then did she realize that his tongue was gone.
This guy committed suicide.
They pulled the tongue out of his throat, stuffed it into his mouth, and put it back in place at the break, and his body began to heal.
He was very calm this time, and doing anything too much felt as good as taking a dump.
Their gaze gradually focused, finally settling on Guan Zhiwei.
He greeted him casually, "You're back."
Guan Zhiwei replied casually, "Let's eat when we wake up."
"I'm not hungry."
"And then starve yourself to death?"
Guan Zhiwei sighed, clicked her tongue, and said something annoyed.
It's not that I'm annoyed by anything else, it's just that his current state is so familiar.
She simply sat down on the edge of the bed, searching through her numerous and chaotic memories, "I was like you for a time."
"You won't die either?" Gao Huan slightly raised his eyes.
"Pretty much. I will revive myself again and again in a completely different way. I dare not look in the mirror, for fear of forgetting what I originally looked like."
"Have you forgotten or not?"
"I forgot."
No matter how hard you try, you will still forget yourself.
Guan Zhiwei took a deep breath: "But I always remember that I want to go home. I don't belong here."
Gao Huan thought to himself, "I feel like you don't belong here either. You must be some kind of spirit from some sacred mountain that came to the human world and became a mountain king."
Guan Zhiwei suddenly turned her head to look at him. She sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at him from a downward angle. He was slumped on the bed, with nowhere to hide, so he could only meet her eyes randomly.
"If you don't know the meaning of life, then get moving. Find out the secret of your resurrection, find out the secret of why I'm trapped here, and then send me home."
"Then I'll be free?"
"Then you will be free."
Whether it's the truth or a lie, it's at least what he expected.
Guan Zhiwei held out her hand to him, "Get up and eat."
"Okay." He grasped the hand, sat up, still very weak, and swayed slightly.
Guan Zhiwei didn't let go, and helped him all the way out the door.
Dog Tooth, sitting at the table, saw this and tried to bite the chopsticks. After being slapped by Madam Feng, he obediently let go.
"I slept all day, my legs are numb, I can't walk anymore?" he asked resentfully.
He harbored a lot of resentment towards Gao Huan for sleeping in late all morning and having Guan Zhiwei carry him back to the room. He thought this sickly young master was extremely cunning.
Gao Huan ignored Gouya's provocation, coughed lightly, and leaned closer to Guan Zhiwei after sitting down, looking weak and helpless.
Dogtooth's big eyes widened as wide as they could have gotten.
Gao Huan didn't even bother to look at him; a little trick was enough to break his defenses.
