Chapter 2 Possession by Evil Spirits?
Yao Ge went from astonishment to silence, looking Guan Zhiwei up and down as if trying to figure out which evil spirit had possessed her.
"You want to work for me?"
“A month…” Guan Zhiwei wasn’t familiar with the prices in this area, so she hesitated for a moment and said, “Three thousand?”
Brother Yao rolled his eyes: "Three hundred copper coins, enough for two meals. Take it or leave it."
"Dry!"
Guan Zhiwei then found herself a class.
She won't get to eat until she officially starts work tomorrow, and with 50% hunger pangs still in her system, she decided to go home and stay home for now.
On the way back.
The system started wailing in his head again: "Are you sick? You're ignoring the male lead and running off to work? Are you addicted to being a beast of burden? You maxed out your combat stats just to forge iron?"
Guan Zhiwei retorted, "If I don't rob and plunder, what good are my martial arts skills?"
If the system has good suggestions, she won't name it "Idiot".
[You're given combat power to pave the way for a strong female lead storyline. But you don't need to max it out; just a little bit is enough to let people know you're strong. The male lead will come to your rescue when you're truly in danger.]
Ha, you idiot.
She returned to her front door.
The little beggar was already chilled to the bone, leaning against the wall.
Guan Zhiwei said, "Your male lead is dead, he can't save me."
【Aaaaaah! Because you didn't save him!】
"A truly great person won't die just because someone didn't help him with a small favor."
Guan Zhiwei went home, closed the door, and said goodnight.
The next day, when Guan Zhiwei went to work, the little beggar's body had already been dragged away somewhere.
In those days, too many people died of starvation and disease. The imperial court had special people to collect corpses and clean up the streets and alleys to prevent the spread of plague.
No one cares about the deaths of ordinary people, because even important figures are dying.
To find a class in this kind of environment, what are you talking about? You're clearly a dragon among men. Although they're both animals, the latter is obviously superior.
Guan Zhiwei didn't become an apprentice; she became an assistant directly.
Brother Yao taught her how to forge iron; strength alone isn't enough, it's a skill.
Dogtooth squatted beside the huge bellows, pushing and pulling back and forth incessantly. Apprentices all had to go through this process: to keep the raging fire at a high temperature, blowing air into the furnace so that the iron block could be heated to white-hot.
He looked at Guan Zhiwei with envy, but she later surpassed him and got the assistant job he had always dreamed of.
Even though he knew Guan Zhiwei was incredibly strong, he was still unconvinced, always feeling that she was too skinny and lacked any compelling personal charm.
He watched as Guan Zhiwei stood in front of the anvil, the thick, hard steel block almost taller than her upper body. She didn't look like a blacksmith who could break iron. He couldn't help but think to himself: "Shorty."
"Bang!"
Once the iron block was heated, they began hammering it. Guan Zhiwei picked up a large iron sledgehammer and started smashing.
The giant iron hammer was heavier than her, and its head was bigger than her head. It was terrifying to watch her lift it, and the heavy, loud sound it made when it came down was even more startling.
Her face was expressionless; she didn't look like she was forging iron, but rather like she was murdering and dismembering someone.
Dogtooth felt a chill on the back of his neck, as if she had smashed it.
“Something’s not right. Don’t use so much force. When you’re forging iron, you have to control your strength. You’re trying to extend the iron, not smash it.” Brother Yao frowned.
Guan Zhiwei said "Oh," and while throwing the object out, she also pulled the force back. This was more tiring than throwing it back and forth without any regard for anything else, and her muscles kept contracting.
Brother Yao nodded, she was learning very quickly, she had the makings for this job. But for some reason, he glanced at Guan Zhiwei and didn't really want to praise her, he even wanted to scold her a couple of times.
The second brother of the gang was not convinced by Guan Zhiwei. He had embarrassed her yesterday and wanted to get revenge today.
Seeing that she had learned it, I wanted to compete with her, but I didn't say it directly. I just kept quiet and we hit each other.
After being hit about ten times, the second brother's face changed, becoming even darker.
Strong men like them need to rest after hitting the ground ten or so times, wiping the sweat from their foreheads with a rag, catching their breath, and drinking some water.
Guan Zhiwei remained completely calm, without breaking a sweat or showing any sign of stopping.
He gritted his teeth and persevered for a while, until the sledgehammer slipped from his hand.
It made a crackling sound.
The sledgehammer was swung in front of Guan Zhiwei.
Without even looking up, she picked it up with her left hand and handed it over, as if it were a piece of cotton.
The second brother took it with both hands, gritted his teeth, and said, "I guess I misjudged you. I admit defeat."
Guan Zhiwei looked up, puzzled.
Brother Yao lost his temper, banging his small hammer loudly, "Concentrate! Don't get distracted!"
He was always by the side with a small hammer, providing guidance and corrections at any time. He would tap a spot, and Guan Zhiwei would tap the same spot. Wherever the small hammer was, the big hammer would follow. This was the master's control.
Sparks flew everywhere as the hammering continued until nightfall. The blacksmith's shop was still brightly lit, with fire crackling and flying everywhere. When the hot, shaped swords were placed into cold water, the mournful cries of the weapons could be heard, and thick fog rose up and drifted before one's eyes.
The blacksmith shop was doing good business, so the food was good too.
In the morning, there is meat soup and vegetable porridge; in the evening, there is wheat rice, wild vegetables, and pork. The head chef gets two pieces, the junior chef gets one piece, and the apprentices get no meat but wild vegetables.
Guan Zhiwei sighed. Although her hunger level had dropped to 20%, her heart was still hungry.
The system then popped up: "If you listen to me, I guarantee you'll live the high life."
Guan Zhiwei knew immediately that it was definitely up to no good.
"You can bring the dead back to life?"
It hasn't gotten to that point yet.
"Wasn't the little beggar already dead?"
You don't understand.
...
She was talking to herself.
Dogtooth felt a chill run down his spine and ran up to Brother Yao, saying in a nervous tone, "Brother, she's not even as tall or strong as me, but she's so energetic. She worked as a blacksmith all day without stopping, and she kept talking to herself, like she was talking to someone she couldn't see. Do you think she's possessed by an evil spirit?"
“Even if she is an evil spirit, she is a hardworking and capable one. I will make some cow, sheep and pig heads to worship her. If she wants to eat people—” Brother Yao looked Gouya up and down.
Dogtooth looked aggrieved and timid; he seemed to shrink down, even shorter than Guan Zhiwei.
"Dog teeth".
Guan Zhiwei suddenly walked behind Gouya and put her hand on his shoulder.
He was startled and turned around stiffly.
Guan Zhiwei smiled at him: "I'm a little hungry..."
Before he could finish speaking, Gouya took off running.
She remained standing there, looking bewildered. She was craving meat and wanted to ask Gouya where she could hunt so she could catch some small animals to eat.
The system gloated: [Hmph, I told you! You should save some skill points for Charm. Now look what happened, men are scared away the moment they see you.]
