Chapter 1 The Mentally Challenged Mission

Chapter 1 The Mentally Challenged Mission

Volume 1: Combat Strength 100

Name: Guan Zhiwei

Gender: Female

Charm: 0 [This person looks very unlucky.]

Luck: 0 [As I said, very unlucky.]

Darkening: 0 [Innocent little white rabbit, meow.]

Intelligence: 0 [They say it's a rabbit, but it's meowing like a cat; how high can its IQ be!]

Combat Strength: 100 [Spare his life, I'll never dare to criticize you again!!!]

The system crashed.

It's a "sweet romance script" system that has served many hosts.

I've seen hosts max out their charm and become heartthrobs, max out their luck and become lucky charms, and max out their ruthlessness and become powerful female protagonists seeking revenge. But I've never seen a host with maxed-out combat skills.

Are you out of your mind? I gave you a hundred skill points, and you're going to put them all into physical attack? At least leave some brains behind.

It was shouting in Guan Zhiwei's mind.

Guan Zhiwei ignored it, and after a moment's thought, she observed her surroundings.

This was a rather poor little hut, with only a crippled little bed propped up with stones, a long bench, a few broken bowls, a mud stove, and a window that had fallen out and burned as wood, leaving a dark, square hole.

She immediately recognized it as Hell Mode.

Poverty generally makes people tense, calculating gains and losses, and mentally strategizing in everything they do, with thinking always outweighing action.

Invincible poverty is straightforward; they're starving to death.

My hunger level has reached 80%; reaching 100% will kill me. This is experience I've gained after going through ninety-nine systems.

Your mission is to have a passionate romance with the male lead. Once the romance is over, I will take you home.

"Oh."

The first "farm girl farming" system said that as long as she passed the test, she could go home.

The hundredth system said the same thing: you can go home as long as you have a relationship.

That's all bullshit!

She's had enough!

How can someone this poor even have a relationship? They should be making money!

Guan Zhiwei pushed open the creaking courtyard gate. The sunlight was a bit dazzling, and then the halo faded away.

Wild grass grew wildly in the cracks of the dilapidated walls, and the air smelled of earth carried by the wind.

The little beggar was poorly clothed, leaning weakly against the wall, his lips cracked and his body emaciated to a terrifying degree.

Beneath her messy hair, a pair of eyes were filled with pleading.

"Help...me..."

He didn't want to die.

Guan Zhiwei approached and looked at him.

He trembled as he grabbed Guan Zhiwei's clothes, using his last bit of strength to hold on tightly, as if trying to cling to his own life.

I want to live, I really want to live.

System: [Let me give you a brief overview of the plot.]

He was a ruthless and cunning eunuch, who usurped power and wielded immense influence; all officials, both civil and military, feared him like the plague.

It was he who knelt before Guan Zhiwei, humbled to the point of being dust, begging only for a sliver of pity.

Ten years ago, he was grateful for a single meal. He would forever remember this woman, who was like a goddess, and would forever beg for her mercy, declaring that he would give her the world with his own hands.

Ah, romance!

A steaming hot bun suddenly appeared in Guan Zhiwei's palm.

System: [This is your token of love.]

"Idiot."

Guan Zhiwei only said one sentence, not because she lacked words, but because she was too hungry to speak.

She quickly raised her hand, stuffed the bun into her mouth, and chewed vigorously, the aroma of meat filling her mouth.

[Ah—] The system's shouts filled my mind.

Leave some for him! He's all skinny and dirty right now, he'll look great once he's taken care of!

Guan Zhiwei ate it all, leaving none for herself. Her hunger level quickly dropped from 80% to 50%.

She brushed the little beggar's hand away, turned, and walked along the alley without looking back at him.

The warmth of the little beggar's touch still lingered on her fingertips.

But it cooled down quickly.

The first time she time-traveled, she saw someone die and wanted to call the police; she was scared and cried. This is her hundredth time-traveling now; so be it, she's died ninety-nine times already.

The system's thoughts raced through my head: "Are you crazy? Are you crazy? I told you to allocate some of your skill points to intelligence! If you save him now, he might give you the whole world ten years from now—that's called an investment!"

Guan Zhiwei asked, "If you want me to give him the food, then why did you set my hunger level to 80%?"

The system declared confidently: "You were starving, yet you shared your food with him. That kind of self-sacrifice is truly touching!"

Guan Zhiwei remained silent.

The system felt it was being subjected to passive-aggressive behavior and said: "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"My mom won't let me talk to idiots."

She quickly walked out of the alley and onto the main street. The street was desolate, and the ground was covered with grime that could not be washed away, with a faint red tinge.

The merchants in the shops were all listless, and there were not many people out to buy anything. Everyone had a solemn expression on their face.

There was only one lively place: a blacksmith's shop, where three or four strong men were hammering away, sparks flying everywhere.

These days, no business is easy to do except for blacksmithing, because there are plenty of people who need knives to kill.

I've made up my mind, I'll work here and earn money!

The fire in the stove reddened the man's dark cheeks. He was shirtless, but wore a leather apron, which was burned by the sparks. There were burns on his arms, chest, and even his face. His resolute yet tired face was awe-inspiring.

"Dogtooth, get her some food."

When the apprentice brought the mixed swill, the ingredients of which were indistinguishable, to Guan Zhiwei, she realized that she was being treated like a beggar.

That's right. She was wearing a patched-up short shirt and ill-fitting straw sandals, and her face was dark and grimy, as if she hadn't washed it for days.

Dogtooth muttered, "You're lucky. Brother Yao is kind-hearted. These days, you wouldn't be able to beg for food anywhere else. But don't come back tomorrow just because I gave you food today..."

Guan Zhiwei walked around him, stood in front of Yao Zhuang, and said, "I'm here to apply for a blacksmith job."

This remark immediately drew laughter from the audience.

With her small frame, she couldn't even turn on the bellows.

One of the blacksmiths, his face darkening, immediately started cursing: "Don't be shameless!"

Brother Yao was getting impatient and waved his hand, saying, "Get them out of here quickly, don't delay our work."

Dogtooth came over and grabbed Guan Zhiwei, trying to drag her away.

It wasn't dragged.

It's a bit awkward.

He strained harder, his face turning bright red.

Guan Zhiwei remained completely still.

Hei Lao Er cursed, "You're such a good-for-nothing, you can't even move a little kid. Old Yao is too kind to take you on as an apprentice."

"No..." Dogtooth was anxious, he didn't understand what was going on either, beads of sweat dripping down his face, "She's so heavy!"

Black Second Brother ignored him, put down the big iron hammer in his hand, and grabbed Guan Zhiwei's neck.

He hasn't even touched it yet.

Guan Zhiwei slowly reached out and grabbed his wrist.

He was startled at first, then all the muscles in his body tensed up, and he tried with all his might, but he couldn't break free.

This is truly bizarre!

Guan Zhiwei grabbed Hei Lao Er's arm with her left hand and Gouya by the collar with her right, then spun him around. A grown man and a boy were like toys in her hands, and they were sent flying into the sky.

She didn't actually throw him off; she spun him around and then put him down again. As soon as she let go, Gouya ran away in a panic.

The second brother slapped his own face repeatedly, too shocked to utter a single word.

"I want to work here," Guan Zhiwei said calmly.

This time, to hell with the system and the strategy guide! She will never do anything with a purpose again. She will just live a lazy, mediocre, and quiet life.
