Chapter 19 You're a Man Too

Chapter 19 You're a Man Too

"The young general ordered us to escort her home safely, but she has no home left. What should we do?"

"It's too dangerous tonight. Let's stay with her until dawn. Once the main force leaves at dawn, things will be better."

The two discussed it for a while.

Zheng Shiren said, "Little girl, don't be afraid. We'll make sure you're safe until at least the next day."

"I also guarantee that you two will be safe by the next day." Guan Zhiwei smiled at them.

Both of them thought she had gone mad.

"Ah—" A scream came from the back room.

The two men were very alert and immediately drew their swords. But one of them was even faster, rushing in like the wind.

The two exchanged a glance. The general had given orders, so they reluctantly followed.

In the back room, seven or eight men surrounded Madam Feng.

it hurts!

His chest was bitten off while he was still alive!

Madam Feng struggled in pain, but was held down by several hands and feet.

One of them turned around and said, "Oh, there's another little fish that's walked right into our trap. It doesn't look very appealing, but we'll just have to make do with it."

Guan Zhiwei had calculated everyone's movements, and her finger knives were ready.

"Don't touch her. We are under orders from the young general to protect her." Two soldiers followed and unfurled their general's banner.

"What do you know, General?" The leading man, enjoying Madam Feng's services, squinted his eyes. "I only know that the Grand Commandant has given the order to indulge in pleasure."

"Are you coming or not? If not, get out!"

They laughed together, while Madam Feng cried, repeatedly gesturing with her eyes for Guan Zhiwei to hurry up and leave.

The two men hesitated. The other side had a large and powerful force, but they still had the general's orders.

Fortunately, Guan Zhiwei made a move, so they no longer needed to make a choice.

Guan Zhiwei stumbled toward the men.

Like throwing oneself into someone's arms.

The first man who caught her bled profusely; his carotid artery had been severed. She didn't flinch, letting the blood spray all over her body as she blinked her eyelashes, blood dripping down her face.

"Enemy attack!" The squad leader reacted quickly, immediately reaching for his knife, but then threw it far away for the sake of playing with it.

Guan Zhiwei had already touched the dead man's knife. She swung the knife, chopping off heads as if she were slicing a watermelon, and a crisp cracking sound was heard.

The knife will roll.

It's okay, there are plenty of knives here.

That's enough for her to kill many people.

Killing them isn't enough; we have to chop them into pieces.

Until—"Xiao Guan! Xiao Guan!"

Madam Feng was calling her.

Amidst the crimson light, her unfocused gaze sharpened, and a figure appeared.

Are you hurt?

"It's okay... I'll cooperate with them. They just won't give me the money anyway. I've been through all sorts of things."

Madam Feng pretended to be fine, but her body was trembling slightly.

Guan Zhiwei could smell the blood on her.

The smell of human blood is different from that of animal blood; the smell of human blood is more painful.

She looked around; all the animals were dead.

Only Zheng Shiren and He Shitou, carrying knives, faced her with an indescribable sense of fear.

Guan Zhiwei wiped the blood from her face and smiled slightly: "I'm home. You can go now. Thank you for taking me home."

The two men were speechless and practically staggered out, fleeing in panic.

They needed to report this news to the young general immediately.

That woman killed like a ferocious beast.

Only after the two soldiers left did Madam Feng dare to go outside.

She was in so much pain that she was sweating profusely, her face was pale, and she staggered as she looked at the corpses falling one by one, and at the familiar faces, "Where is my son?"

Where is my son?

She was in excruciating pain, but she tightly covered her mouth, afraid to make a sound lest she attract the beasts.

Guan Zhiwei followed her out.

This is a funeral hall.

It was also a blacksmith shop.

She wanted to forge herself a knife, a knife that could kill many people without dulling its edge.

Brother Yao spent a lot of money to buy the meteorite iron and promised to give her an axe so she could easily cut down trees.

Flames shot into the sky, and it seemed as if Yao Zhuang was standing right next to her, pointing and telling her how to strike.

With a sizzle, the knife was finished.

The forged knives are to be placed in water, so there are several large vats in the blacksmith's shop.

Guan Zhiwei noticed that the tank next to her trembled slightly.

She reached out and opened the lid.

There was no water inside.

Yan Chunsheng was curled up inside, his back up and his face down, his hands tightly covering A Tu's mouth, his body pressing down on A Tu's limbs, his whole body was trembling uncontrollably, he felt the cylinder lid being opened.

"A-Tu," Guan Zhiwei called out.

Upon hearing the familiar noise, fear surged through the man like a tidal wave, making his limbs go weak. It took him a great deal of effort to turn around.

He was afraid he had misheard, afraid it was those terrifying soldiers. He turned around and saw that horrifying scene.

He would rather die in ignorance and oblivion.

"Xiao... Guan..." His voice trembled, and he could hardly utter a complete sentence. He was like a snail hiding in its shell, with a soft and nauseating feeling.

Guan Zhiwei pulled him out, and Atu was pulled out along with him.

Without the gag to control him, Atu was convulsing, his face flushed red and covered in a mixture of sweat and tears. "Save my mother, father, save my mother—"

Madam Feng rushed forward like a madwoman, crying out, "My son! My son!"

"Mother! Mother!"

She was no longer in pain, and she was overjoyed.

Chunsheng hesitated, lingering before explaining in a low voice, "The jar is too small; it can't hold three people."

Madam Feng held the child without saying a word.

Guan Zhiwei understood the implied meaning.

When danger struck, he hid in the vat with his son and pushed Feng Niangzi away.

He knew that Madam Feng had been dragged away crying and screaming, but he just buried his head even deeper like an ostrich.

“It seems like it’s always been like this. When I became scary, you hid; when Madam Feng argued with the neighbors, you hid; when she was out earning money to support the family and had a black eye, you still hid; when soldiers were in danger and their lives were at stake, you hid, and incidentally pushed her out.”

Guan Zhiwei looked at him coldly, "Aren't you a man too?"

Yan Chunsheng was so humiliated that he couldn't lift his head, but he dared not resist. He was like a limp worm, easily poked by anyone.

"Xiao Guan, forget it, don't talk about him anymore," Madam Feng stopped him.

"You're still protecting him?" Guan Zhiwei asked in disbelief.

Madam Feng gave a bitter smile: "I just had no choice."

From the moment she married him and had children, she had no choice.

Because she had no other choice, she sold herself to earn money to support her family. She took the lead in solving all the big and small problems at home, and she accepted the insults and criticisms from others.

He was betting on how far a mother would go for her child, and he won.

He could live like a ghost, not caring about anything, comfortably listening to others say, "Chunsheng is a good man, it's just that his wife is a real scoundrel."

She felt no resentment or hatred; her heart was ashen and undisturbed. She calmly said to Yan Chunsheng, "When you run away, take Atu with you, and I'll thank you."
