Chapter 30: Separation 3

Chapter 30: Separation 3

"Water...drink water...I have to..." My throat was dry, my body was hot and cold, my head was aching badly, and my brain felt like it was filled with a mass of paste, making me feel dizzy and depressed.

The sound was very soft and Ji Zheng was standing far away so he couldn't hear it, but he saw Ji Hean's mouth move.

Just as I was about to lean forward to listen, the doctor spoke, "Give him some water."

Ji Zheng hurriedly went to pour water.

The doctor took back the silver needle and stood up to walk away, looking at the person who was carefully feeding the patient water, "Use a wet towel to cool him down first, and he will be fine after he drinks the medicine and sweats."

"Okay, thank you doctor." Ji Zheng replied without turning his head.

Seeing how concerned Ji Zheng was, the doctor's eyes flashed with confusion. She didn't look like someone who would abuse her husband, but why was the little Shuang'er so poorly off?

Forget it, this is not something I can control. The doctor shook his head, took his things and went out.

"He Anguaiguai, you scared me to death." Ji Zheng was giving water to people and was thankful, "Do you want to drink more?"

Ji Hean shook his head, "What's wrong with me? Where is this?" His eyes were filled with confusion and his voice was hoarse.

Ji Zheng felt sad when he heard this. "You are sick, don't you know that this is a clinic?"

"Are you sick?" No wonder my body feels so heavy and my head feels so dizzy.

Seeing that the other person was still able to talk to him, Ji Zheng felt a lot more relieved.

Remembering the doctor's instructions, he gently pulled the quilt over Ji Hean and said, "I'll get some water to cool you down. Be good."

After saying that, she stood up and felt someone pulling at the hem of her clothes. She turned around and saw it was Ji He'an's thin hand. "What's wrong?" She bent down and asked in a low voice.

"Don't go, I'm scared..." Her eyelashes trembled slightly, her eyes were filled with tears, her dry lips were pursed, and she looked aggrieved and pitiful.

Ji Zheng's heart softened. He leaned over and kissed Ji He'an's forehead soothingly. "Don't be afraid. I won't leave. I'm just going to get you some water. I'll be back soon."

After saying that, he kissed her twice more.

The voice was gentle, the movements were gentle, and Ji Hean's uneasy heart due to illness was gradually soothed. "Then, then you have to be quick..."

"Okay, be good, let me go first, I promise to be back soon." Ji Zheng was very patient.

After stuffing Ji He'an's hands back into the quilt, Ji Zheng quickly went out to find the medicine boy to ask for a wooden basin, and then spent money to buy a piece of cotton cloth to fetch some water and came back.

She squeezed out the soaked handkerchief, folded it into a rectangle, and gently placed it on Ji He'an's scalded forehead, coaxing him softly, "Are you coming back soon?"

Ji Hean didn't say anything, and it seemed that he was feeling very uncomfortable.

Ji Zheng touched his face distressedly and said, "Just bear with it for a while, the pain will go away after you drink the medicine."

Ji Hean nodded softly.

But speaking of medicine, Ji Zheng just walked to the door and was about to urge for it when he saw a medicine boy coming over here with medicine.

He hurried forward to take the medicine, looked at the black medicine, thought for a moment and said to the medicine boy: "Do you have any candy or preserved fruit or something like that?"

"no."

Helpless, Ji Zheng planned to wait until Ji Hean took the medicine and fell asleep before going out to buy it.

"He'an, the medicine is here. The pain will go away after you take it." Ji Zheng came to Ji He'an with the medicine.

The bitter taste of the medicine floated into Ji Hean's nose, "It's so bitter!" His nostrils twitched and his face showed reluctance.

"The pain will go away after you drink it. Can I buy you some preserved fruits later?" The medicine was extremely bitter and Ji Zheng himself was reluctant to drink it. But there was nothing he could do now as Ji Hean was sick.

When the bowl of medicine was finished, Ji Hean's delicate features wrinkled together, "It's so bitter." He now felt that every word he said was bitter.

Ji Zheng quickly poured him a bowl of water and said, "Rinse your mouth."

After taking a big sip of water, the bitterness in the mouth was diluted a lot, and the wrinkled brows relaxed.

Under the effect of the medicine, Ji Hean felt sleepy and fell asleep peacefully looking at Ji Zheng who was guarding beside him.

Ji Zheng didn't leave, but waited until Ji Hean started sweating and his temperature dropped before going out to buy things.

After a long morning of tossing and turning, my stomach started to protest.

After leaving the clinic, he bought two cookies and ate them quickly, then went to buy some preserved fruits for Ji and An.

He was very fast and when he came back Ji Hean was not awake yet. Looking at Ji Hean's sweet sleeping face, his heart warmed and he went forward and kissed her.

Thinking that Ji He'an would be hungry when he woke up, he went to find the medicine boy and gave him a few coins, asking him to help cook some porridge for Ji He'an to eat when he woke up.

From then on, he stayed by Ji Hean's bedside and paid for the consultation and medicine.

But when he went to pay the bill, the doctor looked as if he wanted to say something but hesitated, which made him a little confused.

Ji Zheng returned to the bedside and thought about the doctor's expression. He felt a little uneasy. He always felt that when a doctor showed such an expression, there must be something wrong.

After thinking about it, and seeing that Ji and An would not wake up for a while, he decided to ask the doctor.

When he came out, the doctor was taking someone's pulse. Ji Zheng stood aside and didn't dare to disturb him.

After the man took the prescription and left, Ji Zheng asked when no one was around, "Doctor, did you have something to tell me just now?"

The doctor's face showed an expression of wanting to say something but hesitating, which made Ji Zheng feel uneasy. Could it be that Ji Hean had some hidden illness?

In a way, he got the truth.

Seeing that someone asked him, the doctor no longer concealed the truth, "Your husband is very poor, do you know that?"

In fact, it was not that he wanted to hide the truth from Ji Zheng. It was mainly because he could tell from the way Ji Zheng was dressed that his family was poor. Even if he told him the cause of the patient's illness, it would only add to his troubles.

But later, seeing that the man cared so much about the patient, he said he might not be willing to treat him, so he looked at Ji Zheng with an expression that seemed to want to say something but was hesitant.

"Your husband must have been abused when he was a child. Although he looks fine now, he is already empty inside. If it happened to someone else, he wouldn't need to take any medicine and would just get over it. But in your husband's case, if you hadn't brought him to the hospital in time..."

The doctor didn't say the rest, but Ji Zheng knew what the doctor would say next.

"Then... can it be cured?" Ji Zheng had actually expected this, "Or how can it be cured?"

"The name of his disease is affluenza. It's not serious at all. It just depends on whether you are willing to do it." The doctor added.

Ji Zheng was naturally willing, "Doctor, just tell me what you want to say."

"It's not that difficult actually. You just need to be served with good food and drink and not be too sad or too happy."

It sounds simple. If it happens in a wealthy family, it cannot be considered a disease. But in a poor family, it is like a terminal illness.

After hearing what the doctor said, Ji Zheng's anxious heart completely relaxed. Fortunately, it was not a terminal illness. It was just money. He could just go and earn it.
