Chapter 31: Separation 4
Ji Hean slept until the afternoon. The medicine took effect and he no longer felt so uncomfortable, but he still felt a little lethargic.
"You must be hungry. You've slept all day. Eat something." Ji Zheng served the warm porridge from the clay pot.
The porridge was very thick, made from refined rice, and gave off a strong rice aroma. Ji Hean's stomach growled twice as appropriate.
Two faint blushes appeared on his pale face, and his eyes were a little evasive, "I, I want to drink some water." His throat was dry after just waking up.
Just after I finished drinking the water, a pair of big hands held a spoon and fed the delicious porridge to my mouth.
Ji Hean was a little shy, "I came by myself..." and then he reached out to take the spoon and bowl from Ji Zheng's hands.
Ji Zheng dodged for a moment and coaxed gently: "Be good, you are sick and have no strength, I will feed you."
Although Ji Hean said that he no longer had a fever, he felt weak all over, especially his limbs, and he had no strength at all.
Since there was no one else in the room anyway, she pursed her lips and finally let Ji Zheng feed her.
His pupils dilated and he looked at the porridge in surprise, then at Ji Zheng. The porridge was sweet?
Seeing Ji Hean's surprised look, Ji Zheng laughed, "I put some honey in it, in case you get sick and have a bitter taste in your mouth."
As he said this, he fed another spoonful into his mouth.
Ji Hean lowered his eyes. Even though the porridge was so sweet, his heart and eyes felt sour.
"What's wrong?" Looking at the man who lowered his head and didn't speak, Ji Zheng asked worriedly, "Are you feeling unwell again?"
Ji Hean shook his head gently, "It doesn't hurt."
"Really?" Ji Zheng was a little unconvinced, and he forced Ji Hean's head up, "Why are your eyes red?"
Ji Zheng frowned in worry and slowed down his voice, "Where do you feel uncomfortable? Let's get a doctor to check you out."
Seeing Ji Zheng's worried look, Ji Hean couldn't help but smile, "I'm really fine, I just haven't eaten sweet porridge yet."
This is how it feels to be cared about by others. Ji Hean is a little addicted to it.
After carefully looking at him for a long time, Ji Zheng finally felt relieved when he saw that he was really fine. "Eat quickly, or it will get cold."
Then he continued to feed her porridge.
After eating a bowl of sweet porridge, Ji Hean felt warm in his stomach and heart. Just as he was about to smile, he saw Ji Zheng coming with a bowl of black medicine.
The bitter taste of the medicine can only be described as "the fragrance wafts ten miles away".
"Drink the medicine." Seeing the frozen smile on Ji Hean's face, Ji Zheng laughed, "Be good, drink the medicine, and I'll give you some preserved fruit later."
Thinking of the bitter taste, Ji Hean said nothing, but pretended to be pitiful and looked at Ji Zheng eagerly, "Can you please not drink it?"
He is like a wounded baby animal, making people feel pity for him and want to agree to everything he says.
If Ji Zheng hadn't had a bit of rationality left in him, he would have almost agreed.
He turned his eyes away forcefully, "Don't act like a spoiled child. You'll get better only after you take the medicine."
Seeing that pretending to be pitiful was useless, Ji Hean's face suddenly fell, and he took the medicine with a look of fearless fear.
Ji Zheng laughed again, wondering why his Ji He'an were so cute.
"Just pinch your nose and drink it in one gulp." Ji Zheng suggested comfortingly.
Ji Hean didn't say anything, but just looked at the still steaming soup as if preparing himself mentally.
Ji Zheng didn't urge him either, as long as he finished drinking the medicine before it cooled down.
"It's so bitter!" His facial features wrinkled into a ball and a tear emerged from the corner of his eye. Ji Hean didn't want to be sick anymore.
Taking the empty bowl, seeing that Ji Hean was about to vomit, he quickly stuffed two preserved fruits into his mouth and covered his mouth, "Hold it, don't vomit."
Forcing down the urge to vomit, Ji Hean turned his attention to the sweet preserved fruit in his mouth. Soon the bitterness in his mouth was suppressed by the sweetness.
"Still want to vomit?"
"No." Ji Hean's words were unclear as his mouth was covered, but Ji Zheng still understood from his shaking head.
He took back his hand and said, "I'm going to return the bowl and get your medicine for the next few days. You pack up and we're going home."
When Ji Hean heard that he would have to take medicine for the next few days, his eyes went dark.
...
They didn't take the ox cart to go home. Ji Zheng still carried Ji He'an back. Fortunately, Ji He'an was not heavy and Ji Zheng was very strong.
As soon as he entered the house, Ji Zheng felt that the atmosphere was very strange, and no one else came up to ask about Ji Hean's condition.
Although he was confused, Ji Zheng did not think about it too much. He carried Ji Hean back to the bed, covered him with a quilt, and went to the kitchen because Ji Hean had to take medicine again in the evening.
Just when the medicine was halfway through, sister-in-law Song Meilan came in and said, "Third brother, mother wants to talk to you about something."
"Okay, sister-in-law, please tell mom for me and I'll come over once the medicine is ready." This medicine needs to be boiled slowly over a low fire, and someone needs to be watching over it.
Song Meilan glanced at the pot of boiling medicine, opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but in the end she turned around and walked out without saying anything.
Thinking about Ji Hean's condition, Ji Zheng felt that he had to find a way to make some quick money, and he also had to find a way to divide the family property with the Ji family, otherwise many things would be difficult to handle.
In fact, Ji Zheng has plenty of ways to make quick money, after all, he is a science and engineering student.
A big fish reveals its true colors; a big tree attracts the wind. The profits that any one of the recipes in Ji Zheng's hand can bring are immeasurable.
But he is just a farmer with no power, no influence and no background. Not only will he not be able to make money, he might not even be able to save his life.
But Ji Hean's body couldn't wait any longer, so he had to find a way to free himself and sell the recipe to make some quick money.
Ji Zheng stared at the gurgling medicine jar on the stove, his mind working at high speed, one method after another popped up, but was rejected one by one.
Before he could come up with a more comprehensive plan, the medicine on the stove was ready.
Forget it, I'll think about it later. I picked up the medicine bottle wrapped in sackcloth and poured the medicine into the bowl. I then brought the bowl to the table in the room and waited for Ji and An to wake up and drink it.
After finishing a series of things, I went to find Ji's mother.
After looking around the yard and not finding Mother Ji, Ji Zheng couldn't help but ask his second sister-in-law Chang Xiu, who was chopping pig grass nearby, "Second sister-in-law, have you seen where Mother is?"
Chang Xiu stopped and pointed behind him, "Mom is in the vegetable garden behind."
"Oh, thank you, second sister-in-law." Ji Zheng replied and walked towards the vegetable garden behind the house.
When he arrived at the vegetable garden, he found that there was not only Ji's mother there, but also Ji's father and even Ji Yuan, who had never returned home in such a long time.
Looking at these three people, he thought that things should not be simple, but he didn't know what... Suddenly, an idea flashed in his mind, and he seemed to have roughly guessed what was going on.
Walking forward, Ji Zheng first greeted Ji's mother and father, then smiled and said to Ji Yuan beside him: "Is it my day off today?"
Ji Yuan was wearing a long gown and had his hair tied up. Although his skin was not very white, it was much whiter than theirs, giving him the image of a typical scholar.
"Third brother." Ji Yuan put his hands together, leaned forward, and bowed, saying, "It's the end of the month now, and the teachers in the academy will take two days off."
Looking at Ji Yuan's noble behavior, Ji Zheng rolled his eyes in his heart. It was unbelievable that his own brother was being so hypocritical. However, from the original owner's memory, he knew that Ji Yuan had always been like this.
Every time he returned to the village, he acted like a scholar, as if this could hide the fact that he came from a peasant family.
"Oh, that's good." Ji Zheng answered dryly, not wanting to talk to him.
