Chapter 6 Be good and go to sleep
As soon as they entered the house, they both smelled the fragrance of rice.
Ji and An came out from the kitchen carrying the dishes.
When he saw Ji Zheng and Ji Feng in the yard, he was stunned for a moment, and then immediately spoke:
"Ah Lang, big brother, we can eat soon."
Ji Zheng didn't say anything. Ji Feng smiled and said, "Thank you for your hard work, brother-in-law."
Ji Hean shook his head. "Of course."
Ji Feng stopped talking and went back to his room, carrying Ji Hui, who was eating candy attentively in his arms.
Before leaving, he gave the bowl in his hand to Ji Zheng and asked him to put it in the kitchen.
Ji Hean put the dishes in his hand on the table, lowered his head and quickly returned to the kitchen.
When the weather was not cold, the Ji family usually ate in the yard. When the weather was cold, they ate in Ji's father and Song's mother's room.
There was a thatched pavilion in the middle of the yard with a wooden table in it, where they ate their meals.
After Ji Zheng returned to the room, put away the hat and caramel candy, he saw that everyone else had come out and started to eat.
Today's meal was still simple, a large pot of fried vegetables, some pickled vegetables, the rest were dry cakes, and a pot of egg soup.
Although it is called egg soup, there are only a few drops of egg in it.
After the family finished their meal, it was the hottest time of the day.
Most people don't work at this time. Even those who don't go home will find a cool place to rest and start working when it's not so hot.
Ji Zheng returned to the room and was about to rest when he found that Ji Hean did not follow him.
He stood up and walked out, and immediately saw Ji Hean who were busy in the kitchen.
Only then did he realize that Ji Hean had been busy since they came back, first cooking and then washing dishes without a moment's rest.
From my memory, I know that Ji He'an has been working since he got married. He does all the work at home and in the fields.
Thinking that Ji Hean was only sixteen years old, Ji Zheng felt a little uncomfortable.
Ji Zheng walked quickly to the kitchen, "I'll help you."
His sudden voice startled Ji Hean so much that he almost dropped the bowl in his hand.
Ji Zheng didn't expect Ji Hean to be so timid, and felt guilty for scaring people.
He touched his nose embarrassedly and took the bowl from Ji and An. "I'll wash it. You do the other things. Finish it early and rest early."
Ji Hean stood there staring at Ji Zheng washing dishes, his face full of confusion and surprise.
"What are you standing there for? Is everything alright?" Ji Zheng asked when he saw Ji and An standing there in a daze.
He was simply asking if everything was alright, thinking that if everything was alright, he would let Ji and An go back to their room to rest.
But Ji Hean misunderstood and thought Ji Zheng wanted him to do other things quickly.
"Yes, yes." He answered stutteringly.
He still didn't dare to look at Ji Zheng's face, he lowered his head and hurried out.
Seeing this, Ji Zheng knew that Ji Hean had misunderstood his meaning, but now he didn't know how to explain it to others.
After Ji Hean went out, he first fed the two sheep, then collected the clothes that had already dried in the yard and gave them to other people.
When Ji Zheng came out, he saw Ji Hean fiddling with a basket of mung beans.
When I got closer, I found that he was picking out impurities such as sand and gravel from the mung beans.
It would take at least one or two hours to clean up a large basket of mung beans.
"Do you want to finish it all?" Ji Zheng asked.
"Yeah." Ji Hean nodded, and then continued, "My mother asked me to make mung bean soup in the evening."
Mung bean soup can relieve heat. It's already cool at night, why drink mung bean soup?
As if seeing Ji Zheng's confusion, Ji Hean explained, "Boil it in the evening and put it in the well. Drink it at noon tomorrow."
After hearing the explanation, Ji Zheng nodded in understanding.
Then he frowned again the next second. In that case, wouldn't Ji and An be able to take a rest at noon?
After thinking for a while, he said, "Go back and rest first, and do it this afternoon."
Ji Zheng's words made Ji Hean feel a little embarrassed. After all, he had to do farm work in the afternoon and had no time.
If he postpones it to the evening, then he will have one more thing to do tonight.
"But I don't have time this afternoon," said Ji Hean.
He lowered his head, and Ji Zheng couldn't see the expression on his face.
"Don't go to the fields in the afternoon. There isn't much work left there. Just a few of us are enough. You can just do your work at home in the afternoon," said Ji Zheng.
The sun was very bright, and in order to better pick out the sand and gravel mixed in the beans, Ji Hean deliberately chose a place with good light, but also a place with brighter sun.
"But, mother..."
Before Ji Hean could finish his words, Ji Zheng interrupted him, "Don't worry, go back to your room and rest."
The sun was too bright, and Ji Zheng felt a little irritated.
Hearing Ji Zheng's impatient tone, Ji Hean didn't dare to say anything else. He quickly put away the mung beans in his hand and followed Ji Zheng back to the room.
When I returned to the room, without the sun, I felt much cooler.
Ji Zheng was really tired. He took off his clothes in no time and went to bed.
When I turned around, I saw Ji Hean still standing there in a daze.
"What are you standing for?" he asked. "Take off your clothes and go to bed."
Ji Zheng naturally thought that Ji Hean was sleeping with him, after all, they were a couple and there was only one bed in the room.
Hearing Ji Zheng say going to bed, Ji Hean was a little at a loss. At the same time, he wondered if he had heard it wrong. After all, Ji Zheng did not allow him to sleep with Ji Zheng on the first day he got married.
In this situation, Ji Hean began to doubt whether he was dreaming.
Seeing that Ji Hean still didn't move, Ji Zheng felt a little impatient, but seeing Ji Hean's pitiful look, Ji Zheng was patient and tried to lower his voice and said, "Don't waste time, you still have to work later. Be good and go to bed."
His tone was very gentle, especially the last part of the sentence "be good", as if he was coaxing a child.
But for some reason Ji Hean felt like crying when he heard this.
He blinked back his tears, took off his coat obediently and climbed into bed.
Although this bed is not very big, it is more than enough for two people to lie down.
After seeing Ji and An coming up, Ji Zheng moved inside, yawned, and said, "Go to sleep. You're tired after working all morning."
Ji Hean hummed softly.
After a while, Ji Zheng fell asleep.
But Ji and An couldn't fall asleep for a long time.
This was the first time he had slept in a bed since he grew up. In the past, he always slept on the floor of the woodshed at home, without a mattress, only a layer of dry straw.
Later she married Ji Zheng, but on the first day Ji Zheng expressed his undisguised dislike and disgust for him.
So he still slept on the floor.
He keenly discovered that Ji Zheng seemed to treat him very differently after waking up.
Not only will they take the initiative to talk to him, but they will also care about him.
Ji Hean couldn't figure out why this happened, but he hoped Ji Zheng would always be like this.
