Chapter 7 Feels Good
Ji Zheng was awakened by Ji Hean.
He put on his clothes, sighed, and went out. He was not afraid of mental activities, but he was really afraid of physical labor.
As soon as I went out, I saw other people getting ready to go out.
Ji Zheng went to the well and washed his face with cold water.
There was not much work to do in the fields in the afternoon, so Ji's father and mother decided not to go. They wanted to go to the mountain to chop firewood.
The firewood at home is running out.
Song Meilan didn't plan to go either, because Ji Hui didn't want to go, and she wanted to stay at home to look after Ji Hui. Of course, she herself didn't want to go either. When it comes to work, of course you can be lazy if you can.
Since Song Meilan didn't want to go, Ji Cheng's wife Chang Xiu didn't want to go either.
Suddenly, only the three Ji Zheng brothers and Ji Hean were left.
Originally, Ji Zheng wanted Ji He'an to stay so that he would have to do less work. Now that Song Meilan and Chang Xiu are going to stay at home, he would let Ji He'an follow him to the fields, and Song Meilan and the others would do the housework.
Thinking of this, Ji Zheng stood up and said, "I'll have to trouble my eldest and second sisters-in-law with the family matters."
Upon hearing this, Song Meilan and Chang Xiu were a little confused. They couldn't react for a moment as to why their third brother, who rarely spoke, suddenly said such a thing.
What's bothering them at home?
At this moment, they have forgotten about doing housework. After all, since Ji Hean got married, all the housework has been done by Ji Hean alone, even their clothes have been washed by Ji Hean.
Everyone in the family assumed that these things should be done by Ji and An.
It was as if Ji Hean was not the master of the house, but the servant of the house.
Of course, their thoughts like this were also related to the original owner's inaction. From the first day Ji He'an got married, he completely ignored Ji He'an, as if he didn't exist.
Such an attitude can naturally be seen by other people living under the same roof.
Since Ji Hean's husband didn't care about him, it was even less likely that other people would care, so they treated Ji Hean like servants and tacitly assumed that everything in the house was Ji Hean's job.
Ji Zheng naturally didn't know what they were thinking, but seeing that they all looked confused, Ji Zheng added: "He An wants to go to the fields with us, so we can't take care of the family dinner. I'll leave it to my eldest and second sisters-in-law."
After he finished speaking, Ji Feng and Ji Cheng nodded and said, "Indeed, since you two are at home, you can prepare dinner."
In this case, Song Meilan and Chang Xiu could only nod in agreement.
Seeing this, Ji Zheng carried the hoe on his shoulder, put the straw hat in his hand on Ji Hean's head beside him, and strode out.
Ji Hean was stunned for a moment by Ji Zheng's action, but then he reacted and jogged to catch up with Ji Zheng's steps.
Looking at Ji Zheng and the others' receding backs, Song Meilan and Chang Xiu were still a little confused. They looked at each other, both with surprise and confusion in their eyes.
But the two were not surprised for long, as they heard Ji Hui crying in the house, and Song Meilan hurried into the house.
Chang Xiu also went back to her room by herself.
...
Ji Zheng didn't walk fast, and Ji Hean quickly caught up with him.
He followed Ji Zheng closely, not daring to say a word. He felt confused about what Ji Zheng had just done.
Although he had only been there for two days, Ji Zheng had gotten used to Ji He'an's personality and did not take the initiative to talk to him. He only chatted with Ji Cheng and Ji Feng occasionally.
Soon, the four of them arrived at the field.
Although the afternoon sun is not as hot as at noon, it is still very sunny.
Thinking of the large sunburn on the back of Ji Hean's neck, Ji Zheng pursed his lips, glanced at Ji Cheng and the other person in the distance, then turned around and whispered to Ji Hean:
"Go find a cool place to rest later. You don't have to do any work."
Ji Hean wondered if he had heard it wrongly, "Isn't this a bit bad?"
"It's okay, there's not much time left to live." Ji Zheng said.
"But...Brother..."
"I'll talk to them over there, brother." Ji Zheng interrupted him.
After saying that, Ji Zheng looked around and saw a big tree about 200 to 300 meters to the left. He pointed at that place and said to Ji Hean:
"Go there and rest for a while. I'll call you when we're done."
Ji Hean looked in the direction of Ji Zheng's finger, with some uneasiness and hesitation on his face.
After thinking for a while, he said, "I'm not tired."
It would be strange if he wasn't tired. Ji Zheng didn't believe him. He threw the hoe in his hand to the ground and pulled Ji Hean to walk under the big tree.
"Be obedient and rest here." There was a tone of irresistibility in Ji Zheng's words.
He hadn't thought of letting Ji He'an work in the fields at first.
Seeing that Ji Hean was obedient and no longer refusing, Ji Zheng nodded with satisfaction. Before leaving, he took out the candy he bought at noon from his pocket and stuffed it into Ji Hean's hands.
"I'm going to work first."
After saying this, without waiting for Ji Hean to speak, he turned around and walked away with big steps.
After all, his two elder brothers were already working hard at this moment.
Looking at Ji Zheng's back, Ji Hean looked confused and at a loss.
Ji Zheng arrived at the field and lied to Ji Cheng, saying that Ji He'an was not feeling well and he asked him to go and rest for a while.
Ji Feng and Ji Zheng didn't say anything, and they even joked that Ji Zheng knew how to love his wife.
Ji Zheng smiled and didn't refute.
After chatting for a few sentences, the three of them started to work.
Time passed as the three men swung their hoes, and soon half of the sun was buried in the mountains to the west.
Ji Zheng put down the last hoe, exhaled, wiped the sweat from his face, and it was finally over.
The place where Ji and An rested was in the opposite direction of their home.
"Brothers, you go first. I'll go call He An." Ji Zheng said to Ji Feng and the others.
"Okay." Ji Feng replied.
"Give me your hoe and I'll help you take it back," said Ji Cheng.
"Okay." Ji Zheng handed the hoe to Ji Cheng.
When Ji Zheng arrived under the big tree, he found Ji Hean with a hat on his face and seemed to be asleep.
Ji Zheng walked forward and gently took off his hat. Sure enough, Ji Hean was sleeping soundly with his eyes closed and breathing heavily.
Ji Zheng has been here for the past two days, but because Ji Hean always keeps his head down in front of him, he has never looked at Ji Hean's appearance carefully.
Only then did he realize that although Ji Hean was very thin, his facial features were very good.
His slightly trembling eyelashes were long and curled, and his face was small. Apart from the yellowish complexion caused by malnutrition, he was a handsome young man.
After seeing enough, Ji Zheng gently poked Ji Hean's face to wake him up.
When his fingers touched Ji Hean, Ji Zheng found that although there was not much flesh on Ji Hean's face, it felt good.
After poking him twice, Ji Hean woke up.
"Go home." Ji Zheng said.
When Ji Hean saw Ji Zheng, he suddenly came to his senses, like a rabbit encountering a wolf. He quickly got up and stammered "oh" twice.
It looked as if Ji Zheng was some scary thing.
The two of them walked home, one in front and one behind, taking advantage of the setting sun.
