Chapter 146 Confession of Crime

"Matsuo Ryohei knocked me unconscious and took me back."

Hasegawa Teru clenched the fabric of his pants so tightly that his fingertips turned white.

"I don't know where I am. My body is tightly bound. Every day when I wake up, it seems like I'm in a different place. Even my concept of time has become blurred."

He seemed to have thought of something and blinked.

"By the way, how long has it been since I went missing?"

"...Seventeen days."

Masashi Yukimura accurately reported the time.

"I see..." Hasegawa Teru managed a weak smile. "I thought several years had passed."

Unfortunately, no one could laugh at this "joke".

“Matsuo Ryohei…” Hasegawa Teru continued, “He didn’t seem to know how to deal with me at first.”

“In the first few days, he would bring me food and water every night. Later, it was only once every few days, like treating me like livestock, keeping me on the brink of death.”

"After that, the intervals became longer and longer. I even asked him if he was going to starve me to death, because that might not be so easy."

"But he just kept asking me where I got the information about his relationship with Yoshida Yuta, and what else I knew besides what I told him."

"But I have already told him everything."

“I even promised that as long as he releases me… I will keep quiet about these things, including his kidnapping of me.”

"Of course, he doesn't believe it." Hasegawa Teru gave a wry smile.

"Is he feeling guilty?"

Kii Kanade suddenly spoke up.

Before Hasegawa Teru could ask a question, he continued:

"Matsuo Ryohei's obsession with this matter, even to the point of committing crimes, can only mean that what he wants to hide is worth such a high price."

“Although we didn’t spend much time together, I don’t think he’s the kind of antisocial personality who enjoys torturing people…” Kii Kanade pondered, then slowly said, “What exactly happened between him and Yoshida Yuta back then?”

Hasegawa Teru subconsciously looked at the ghost, who also looked bewildered.

Ignoring their reactions, Kii Kanade boldly offered her guess:

"Could it be... that he caused Yoshida Yuta's death?"

"..."

A chill seemed to run down their spines. Everyone was stunned by this possibility, while Matsuo Ryohei on the ground quietly moved his fingers.

"Perhaps he had always harbored resentment towards his so-called 'good friend,' so when the other person came to find him, he took the opportunity to push him down the stairs and bury him in the ruins."

"Perhaps Yoshida Yuta's death was not caused by the earthquake at all, but was a premeditated murder that was disguised as an accident, and his body was dumped here."

"Or perhaps..."

"That's enough..."

"Leaving aside the first one, the second one is completely impossible. An earthquake definitely happened, and there were no warnings beforehand. Could Matsuo Ryohei possibly have foreseen it?"

Masashi Yukimura, unable to bear it any longer, interrupted him. He simply couldn't stand the flawed and irresponsible reasoning.

"It's just a possibility," Kii Kanade shrugged nonchalantly. "I haven't said yet, maybe this earthquake was orchestrated by Matsuo Ryohei?"

"..."

You're the real antisocial personality.

"That's enough..."

“He’s not like us, he couldn’t do something like that, could he?” Willie joined the conversation with great interest.

"That's enough..."

“Um…” Yoshida Yuta suddenly raised his hand, “Since just now, it’s been like someone has been saying ‘enough,’ ‘enough.’”

"Is anyone talking?" Vili looked around innocently.

"..."

"It's Matsuo Ryohei right next to your feet..."

In the end, it was Hasegawa Teru, the most conscientious person, who kindly spoke up.

Vili seemed to just realize what was happening, and his tone became exaggerated.

"Oh dear, we didn't even notice, you were awake!"

Meanwhile, Kii Kanade simply smiled and watched him, while Yukimura Masashi made no mention of his keen observation skills.

Seeing Matsuo Ryohei's face turn red with anger, Willie, not content with that, added fuel to the fire with a smile.

"What did you just say wasn't enough? Were you referring to the beatings you've received?"

"I don't mind helping..."

"I've said enough!"

Enduring the pain coursing through his limbs, Matsuo Ryohei screamed with all his might, his throat feeling like it was about to tear apart.

"I heard you, I heard you." Willie shook his head, childishly covering his ears. "Why are you yelling so loudly?"

"..."

Matsuo Ryohei took a deep breath, but the cold air choked him, causing him to cough violently. It took him a long time to recover, and he looked several years older.

He still stubbornly spoke:

"It's not what you're thinking."

"It was all...it was just an accident!"

The prisoner was about to begin his final defense. Willy stepped back, giving him ample opportunity, a cold smile playing on his lips. He raised his hand:

"Please begin your performance."

Ryohei Matsuo no longer had the strength to stand up and could only lie on the dusty ground. A chill ran down the back of his head, and the pain in his heart felt like it was tearing him apart, making it extremely difficult for him to speak.

"Back then... I was indeed good friends with Yoshida Yuta. I lived in the school dormitory, and he would often come to visit me, so I was very familiar with the layout of the place."

So that's where I first heard it.

"When the earthquake struck, I was resting in bed because of a fever. Although I felt dizzy, I thought it was just a hallucination caused by my illness and I was in a daze."
