“Until Yuta… he came to find me.”
My memory goes back to that summer before graduation. When Matsuo Ryohei was unconscious, a pair of slightly cold hands touched his forehead, followed by a violent pulling sensation.
When he opened his eyes, he saw his friend's usually innocent face, which was now filled with anxiety and seriousness.
"Earthquake! Run!"
The words were as indistinct as if covered by a layer of cloth. Following Yoshida Yuta's force, Matsuo Ryohei sat up from the bed, but then his legs gave way and he fell hard to the ground.
The whole world was trembling, and the dust and sand falling from the sky hit him, making him a little more awake.
There was no time for words. He forced himself to stay alert and gripped Yoshida Yuta's hand tightly. The two ran swiftly down the corridor, everything around them rushing past, and all he could see were the backs of those ahead of him.
So resolute.
The high fever had exhausted Matsuo Ryohei's strength. His breath carried the metallic smell of blood, and his steps grew slower and slower until he began to stagger.
Sensing his movement, Yoshida Yuta turned his head, but his pupils contracted slightly in the next instant, and then he shoved the person behind him aside!
Bang!
A piece of broken ceiling slammed down, grazing Matsuo Ryohei's feet and crushing Yoshida Yuta, who couldn't get out of the way in time. He closed his eyes without even making a sound.
The red liquid spread to Matsuo Ryohei's feet, pooling into a pool of blood. He almost staggered back in terror, shouting his friend's name.
"Yuta, Yuuta!"
The school building was still shaking violently, with rubble constantly falling. He hesitated, backing away, then looking back repeatedly. Through the crevices where the building was buried, a pair of clear, black and white eyes slowly opened, meeting Matsuo Ryohei's gaze directly.
His lips moved slightly, and he spoke silently:
"Help me."
