Chapter 51 Wise Monarchs

The Knight Commander had followed his Majesty through countless battles, large and small, but even so, he could assert that the man before him was one of the most tenacious enemies he had ever encountered.

He single-handedly broke into the heavily guarded royal palace and single-handedly withstood the siege of dozens of knights.

Not only was his martial arts prowess exceptional, but his mastery of light magic was also remarkable. Every defensive maneuver was executed flawlessly, without expending an ounce of extra magic power.

If they hadn't had more people, the final outcome would have been uncertain.

What's even more remarkable is that the man is still very young, and he still has room to grow... The Knight Commander could hardly imagine what kind of power was hidden within his strong body.

If he hadn't already become His Highness's personal guard knight, he would have loved to recruit this man into His Majesty's guard.

However, now that Serdos has defeated all the surrounding countries, this kid probably won't have the chance to go on the battlefield and make a name for himself, which is a real pity.

Just as the Knight Commander was lost in thought, another conversation began.

"Did you come with me?"

Vili's words were not clearly focused, but they were implied.

"Yes, Your Highness."

Alexander looked up, almost greedily tracing the boy's features.

He couldn't imagine what would have happened to Vili during those days when he hadn't protected him. He felt he would be held responsible even if he died a thousand deaths.

Thank goodness... thank goodness...

After hearing what appeared to be news about Willy, he barged in without a second thought, and thankfully, the result did not disappoint him.

Blood was still dripping from the cuts on his face, but Alexander seemed not to feel any pain, looking up at Vili with the devotion of a believer in worship.

The boy sighed softly, took a step forward, and placed his hand on the knight's head.

The next second, Alexander's wounds were completely healed, leaving no trace.

He lowered his head, his voice sounding somewhat choked up.

"...Thank you, Your Highness."

"This minor injury isn't worth your magic power..."

"Sweetheart, it's almost dinner time. Why don't we go eat first?"

Alexander was interrupted by Atheran before he could finish speaking. Atheran turned his head and stared intently at Vili, as if he had forgotten that there were other people in the room.

Seeing that Vili did not answer, his eyes darkened, and he finally glanced down at Alexander.

"Your knight can also take this opportunity to get some rest..."

Alexander, whose name was called, finally turned his gaze to the portrait of the real person he passed by day and night in the palace, but his expression remained unmoved, as if he were seeing a stranger.

He seems to be truly keeping his promise, completely betraying the knightly honor bestowed upon him by the royal family of Seldos.

Vili observed the situation for a while, his bright eyes darting around, but he ruthlessly rejected His Majesty the King's proposal.

"I don't think I'm in the mood for dinner today, so I'm going home now."

He deftly dodged Atheran's outstretched hand and walked straight out the door, while Alexander immediately rose to follow, his loyal knights guarding his lord.

"..."

Silence returned to the king's study. The knight commander felt his clothes were almost soaked with cold sweat, and he began to regret his actions.

Why didn't I leave sooner?!

Aetheran didn't look at him, but stood silently in place, as if a storm was about to break, and the air was filled with a heavy sense of impending doom.

The overwhelming magical power pressed down on the knight commander, forcing him to kneel on the ground and swallow the blood that welled up in his throat.

He forced himself to speak:

"Your Majesty... Your Majesty!"

Aetheran looked over, his obsidian eyes seemingly devoid of any human emotion, flashing with a cold light.

His kindness these past few days has almost made people forget...

At the beginning of his reign, he was known as a tyrant.

Only after those repeated victories in war did such a title finally fade from people's hearts, and they began to call him "the wise monarch."

He was autocratic, arrogant, and never allowed anyone to change his decisions, but he made Seldos better, and therefore the people willingly praised his name.

Even now, with Aetheran's body seemingly being shattered inch by inch due to his unrestrained release of magic, the Knight Commander would not believe it was His Majesty's fault.

He was desperately trying to figure out a "button" when something finally flashed into his mind.

"When I entered the palace, I overheard the Minister of the Imperial Household discussing the wedding arrangements. Is Your Majesty finally going to marry that prince?"

Like a timely rain, Atheran's anger was extinguished, and the oppressive atmosphere in the room suddenly eased. He still didn't speak, but his magic no longer took an aggressive stance; instead, it quietly settled down.

After a moment, he chuckled, his voice unreadable.

"You're quite clever... step back."

The knight commander felt a sense of relief, knowing that the crisis had been safely passed. But just as he took a small step back to the door, he was stopped by Atheran.

"Go and summon the Minister of the Interior."

"yes."

Meanwhile, in Vili's makeshift bedchamber.

After confirming that there were no surveillance cameras inside the palace, Vili cast a shielding spell as a precaution before finally speaking to Alexander.

"I've dragged you into this mess."

He readily admitted his mistake.

Alexander's reaction was quite violent; he knelt down again with a thud, his knees hitting the floor with a loud bang that made Vili feel pain.

"No, Your Highness, it was my fault for failing to protect you!"

"I have no intention of apologizing to each other."

Vili looked at him, but felt as if something was missing. He took a step back and scrutinized the knight from head to toe. The knight's face gradually turned red under his gaze, as if he had been boiled.

"temple……"

Where is your sword?

He still remembered the longsword he saw when they first met; the gems on it were quite impressive... cough cough.

Every time he saw Alexander again, the sword at Alexander's waist was never out of his sight. Vili remembered seeing that sword before they entered the time vortex.

Could it have been lost during the time travel?

"Your Highness, the sword was taken away by... the knights in the palace." He seemed somewhat annoyed as he said this, his blond hair darkening. "They said that we cannot bring weapons when meeting His Majesty the King."

"I see."

Vili looked around and walked around, seemingly looking for something, while Alexander remained kneeling, awaiting his orders.

After a while, Willie took nothing and stood in front of the knight again.

"If we can't find a suitable one, let's just leave it at that."

Alexander was still processing the meaning of his words when he saw the boy reach out and tap him on the shoulder.

Finally, the hand was raised high and stopped at Alexander's brow.

"The medal awarding ceremony is now complete."
