The boy looked down from above, his face obscured by the light, but the distinct sensation of his fingers told Alexander that this was not a dream.
That dream that was always abandoned... has finally come to an end.
His eyes reddened again, and he let his weak tears wet his cheeks.
Why does a grown man cry so much...?
Willy quickly withdrew his hand and cleared his throat somewhat awkwardly.
It's as if he made someone cry!
"you……"
His thoughts were interrupted, and he almost forgot about the important matter.
"I have something I need you to do."
"I will obey your orders."
Upon hearing this, Alexander calmed himself, tensed his body, and became like a bowstring ready to be drawn, awaiting only Vili's command to charge forward.
"I need to find a black and silver gem with extremely rich magical properties."
Vili described the characteristics of the gem in detail.
"It's about whether we can return to our original timeline, so I hope you'll give it your all."
"But there's one condition: you must not let anyone else know that you're looking for it... especially Atheran."
Upon hearing His Majesty the King's name, Alexander paused for two seconds, then lowered his head even further.
But at the same time, a wicked, secret joy arose in his heart.
So it turns out... Your Highness and that King weren't as close as the other person had made them out to be.
In the end, His Highness still wanted to return with him to the time and space that belonged to the two of them...
Corrupt black cracks crept silently onto the pristine white knight's armor, but Alexander was powerless to resist.
He willingly succumbed to depravity.
"yes."
-
To Vili's surprise, on the third day after he gave the order to Alexander, he received definite news about the gem.
"You mean... the things are kept in His Majesty's bedroom?"
His voice rose slightly at the end, as if he found it incredible.
"Yes."
Alexander recalled the information he had gleaned from other people.
"I heard it was sent a week ago... The king seems to cherish that gem. He kept it by his side the moment he received it and never took it off day or night."
Vili was so angry that he laughed instead.
So he had already obtained the item, but for some reason, he hadn't handed it over.
That bastard, I knew I couldn't trust him!
Vili was furious, thinking about how he had casually agreed to the other party's invitation to go on a trip outside the palace just yesterday.
Don't think he doesn't know that the palace is currently decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, in preparation for His Majesty's wedding ceremony.
As for who the queen is... is there even a question?!
As if sensing his resentment, Alexander looked up at him with concern.
“Your Highness, the King’s bedchamber is heavily guarded. I may need a few more days to prepare before I can clear the obstacles ahead and retrieve the gems for you.”
He seemed very guilty, his lips were pale.
Vili, however, paid no attention and waved his hand.
"It's alright, I'll go myself."
Ignoring the advice of his royal guards, Vili concealed himself and headed to the place where he and Aetheran had first met after nightfall.
For him, entering this heavily guarded place was like entering an empty field. In the darkness, his figure moved nimbly and swiftly, darting past the guards without attracting their attention.
No one noticed his arrival until he entered the familiar bedchamber.
...except for His Majesty the King himself.
Even though it was the time for the king to retire for the night, his bedchamber was still brightly lit, and he himself was sitting at his desk, dressed neatly, deep in thought about the materials on the table.
As soon as Vili stepped inside, he looked over immediately, a smile playing on his lips.
"You've arrived."
He seemed to have anticipated this.
Vili wasn't surprised at all; instead, he swaggered over and sat down on the soft edge of the bed.
He looked up at the ceiling, and the huge hole in it was exactly the same as the day he fell down; the king hadn't sent anyone to repair it at all.
Where is the stuff?
Willie opened his hand, revealing his fair palm.
Atheran didn't answer him. Instead, he calmly picked up the document he had been working on and showed it to Vili.
“I plan to build a magic academy in the name of the king, with the goal of training true magicians. Therefore, it will only accept the most outstanding students… What do you think?”
By his standards, only he and Vili could be considered "true magicians," while the rest were merely mediocre.
Vili didn't speak, and Atheran didn't urge him either, but instead continued:
"Those ministers...a third of them rejected the proposal."
His tone was calm, but his eyes were cold.
“They said that by my standards, only a few people would barely meet the admission requirements… This is a waste of resources, and they told me to ‘reconsider’.”
"fool."
Willie finally spoke, rolling his eyes without any mercy.
"Instead of blaming themselves for not being able to give birth to exceptionally gifted children, they say that the people who set the standards have too high expectations."
The talk of wasting resources is just an excuse. These people simply know that if judged by His Majesty the King's standards, none of their descendants would receive such glory.
"I knew it."
Aetheran put down the paper in his hand, looked intently at Vili, and unconsciously softened his voice.
"Only you... will understand my thoughts."
He stood up, walked to Vili, and knelt down on one knee. He took Vili's outstretched hand, pressed it close to his cheek with affection, and gazed intently at the boy in front of him.
