Chapter 101 Traveling to the Border

Grand Secretary's Residence

Mu Wanyu's abortion was unsuccessful that day; she fainted at the crucial moment, and the abortion pills in her hand were broken.

Li Li caught her just in time, so her pregnancy was not harmed in the slightest. When she woke up again, Mu Wanyu was once again the Mu Wanyu from ancient times.

When she saw Liu Xinqi again, the two had a sweet time together. She told Liu Xinqi that she loved him deeply and that she only agreed to Li Li's marriage proposal to put her father at ease.

She even managed to coax Liu Xinqi, saying that giving birth to this child would be a blow to Yang Mingyue, and that she was willing to return to Beixiang with him.

Seeing that she was delicate and pitiful, and remembering the life-saving grace he had shown her before, Liu Xinqi felt affection for her. Moreover, the child was indeed of use, so the two reached a pleasant cooperation agreement.

Mu Wanyu instructed Liu Xinqi to speed up the assassination of the emperor and empress during their tour, even if he couldn't take their lives, he wanted to create more trouble for them.

The kidnapping of Di Jinghan was unexpected by both of them. Liu Xinqi learned that Consort Wu had hired another assassin to kidnap Di Jinghan just to vent her anger.

After finding the place where Di Jinghan was imprisoned, he put Di Jinghan on a carriage to Beixiang. At this moment, Di Jingcheng, his empress, and the prince in the palace must be extremely anxious!

However, they probably didn't expect that in just a few days, Princess Changning would be stepping out of Xijing's territory.

Di Jingcheng and A Zi had been listening to the messages from the secret guards in the tribe for the past few days, all of which were about the absence of any news about the princess, and they were filled with worry.

What a mess! So many unexpected things happened on this trip.

Azi couldn't sleep well at night, her mind preoccupied with Di Jinghan, while Di Jingcheng coaxed her to sleep every day. He himself was also very worried about his sister; how could he not worry about his own flesh and blood? But worrying was useless; he had to try his best to find her.

Di Jingcheng lay on his side on the bed, with Azi in his arms, gently poking his chest, but she couldn't fall asleep at all.

"Cheng, do you think Jinghan might already be..."

Di Jingcheng lowered his head and kissed her forehead, saying gently, "Azi, don't worry. The whole country is searching for him. I believe we'll have news of Jinghan soon!"

"I hope Jinghan will be alright." Azi sighed softly.

"Yes, Jinghan is mischievous but very smart. Don't worry, she'll be fine."

"My darling, go to sleep now, or Jinghan will blame me for not taking good care of her sister-in-law and nephew when she gets back." Di Jingcheng didn't know how else to comfort her, so this was all he could say.

Azi nodded, closed her eyes to feel the warmth the man gave her, and bowed to pray for Di Jinghan.

The next day, as Di Jingcheng was feeding Azi her medicine, Qinghe excitedly led Cheng Er in. Cheng Er had been traveling a long way and had barely slept these past few days. He had rushed back on horseback and finally had good news to bring to Di Jingcheng and Azi.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, our men have been keeping an eye on Liu Xinqi and discovered that yesterday morning he led a group of people to the mountains outside Suzhou, which is relatively close to the capital. They took the Princess and got into a carriage, heading north." Cheng Er finished speaking in one breath, afraid that the two of them would be anxious.

"Liu Xinqi has dealt with the men in black guarding the thatched hut where the princess is being held; they don't seem to be working together. I've already sent someone to follow them and contact the officials heading north. We'll find an opportunity to rescue the princess."

A smile appeared on Di Jingcheng's face, and A Zi also relaxed a lot.

"All passes leading to Beixiang are closed. No one is allowed to enter or leave until the Princess is rescued."

"I obey the decree!"

"Go yourself and bring the Princess back to the palace!"

"Yes!" Cheng Er left as quickly as possible, leading his men northward.

Di Jinghan was bound inside the carriage. Liu Xinqi's men didn't skimp on food or clothing for her, nor did they give her any medicine. With her strength restored, she felt more energetic. They were traveling on a side road, not the main road, so Di Jinghan had no chance to call for help.

With the border fast approaching, she had to find a way to save herself, otherwise she would be in serious trouble once she left Xijing territory.

She managed to remove the blindfold from her eyes and anxiously peered through the slightly fluttering curtains to observe the situation outside.

As they approached the border of Beixiang, their only way out was to take the official road and pass through the checkpoint. Di Jinghan knew this was the best time for him to ask for help.

Liu Xinqi's men planned to enter through Yingfeng Pass, which is close to Beixiang. This pass usually has a large flow of people and the checks are relatively less strict, making it easy to slip through undetected.

As they approached the city, Di Jinghan saw a man dressed as a merchant walk in, presumably a man in black in disguise. She glanced outside; the people outside had also changed their clothes.

The man in black untied her and said in a harsh voice, "I was going to remove the blindfold from your eyes, but you took it off yourself. Don't make a sound later, or I won't hesitate to use my knife on the noble princess."

Di Jinghan rubbed her aching wrists and felt a chill on her back as a sharp dagger pressed against her waist. She quickly whispered her agreement: "I will obey, but swords have no eyes, so please don't make a mistake and hurt me."

"You can rest assured about that. As long as you don't do anything reckless, I naturally won't do anything."

Di Jinghan nodded stiffly: "I understand."

Now that he's living under someone else's roof, Di Jinghan doesn't dare to be arrogant or domineering; his life is at stake.

The group arrived at the Windward Pass, only to be informed that the pass was closed and not open to the public, and that their carriages would be inspected.

Di Jinghan looked at the soldiers below and really wanted to cry for help. They were still questioning her with her portrait in their hands, but the knife behind her had already pierced her flesh.

She gasped, deliberately feigning a timid expression: "Sir, you hurt me."
