Chapter 138 Knowing Love

When Emperor Jingcheng returned to his bedchamber, he saw that charming figure sitting on the bed, intently reading the storybook in her hands, and his expression softened instantly.

The heat and the hustle and bustle of the day instantly swept away her irritability. Azi was wearing a silk nightgown with a gradient of blue and white, and her long black hair was draped smoothly over her shoulders, making her face look fair and radiant with a hint of rosiness. She looked to be in good health.

She lowered her eyes slightly, looking at the book in her hands. Her long, thick eyelashes cast shadows beneath her eyelids, fluttering gently with each blink. One hand lightly stroked her high, rounded belly, her expression gentle and serene. The bright luminous pearl beside her shone even more brilliantly, making the beauty appear like a goddess, yet also radiating a simple and warm charm.

Emperor Jingcheng relaxed completely, his eyes filled with boundless tenderness, and he walked in with light, slow steps. Qinghe greeted the emperor with a slight curtsy and quietly left.

Azi chuckled softly at the funny parts, careful not to laugh too loudly for fear of disturbing the baby. Di Jingcheng felt that this scene was exactly what he had longed for, and now that it was right before his eyes, he couldn't bear to disturb it.

He stood not far away, staring blankly. After Ah Zi finished reading the story in the book, she turned her head and reached out to him, her face full of a charming smile.

"What are you doing standing there? Don't tire yourself out!" Azi said with a smile. This man had been standing there for a while. Did he intend to stand there indefinitely if she didn't say anything?

Di Jingcheng quickly stepped forward, took her soft little hand, sat on the edge of the bed, and pulled her into his arms.

"Did you disturb my baby? Is this little guy being good?" he said, gently touching Azi's belly, only to be kicked by the boy.

"He knows I am his father!" The man felt the baby move and smiled like a child, with a hint of pride in his eyes.

"He hasn't even come out yet! Besides, he's my son, so he definitely recognizes me as his mother!" Azi said proudly.

"Without a husband, how will Azi give birth on her own?" Di Jingcheng teased.

Azi's face flushed slightly as she muttered, "You rascal! You're never serious!"

"What my husband says is true!" Di Jingcheng felt a warmth in his heart as he looked at her charmingly embarrassed expression. His Azi was truly adorable.

As Azi listened to the man's teasing voice, which was already incredibly pleasant to listen to, now carried a low chuckle, she felt a tickle in her ears and involuntarily shrank her neck.

"Get away from me!"

Di Jingcheng lowered his head and nuzzled against her neck, his hands tightly protecting her body, being very careful with his movements. He greedily inhaled the unique fragrance emanating from A Zi, feeling refreshed and invigorated. His A Zi smelled so good, every part of her was fragrant, and she was so soft.

Azi gently pushed his head away, giggling, "No~ no~ it tickles, Acheng~"

The couple's joyful laughter filled the bedchamber, reaching Qinghe and the others. Everyone smiled and marveled at the deep affection between the Emperor and Empress.

After the two of them joked around for a while, Zheng He'er came in to serve the meal. Di Jingcheng was holding Azi while reading a storybook, occasionally chatting about other things.

Palace servants brought in the evening meal and set it on the table in an orderly fashion. Zheng He tested it twice for poison before quietly reminding the emperor and empress to eat.

These past few days, Azi has been eating light meals, mainly medicinal cuisine. The man attentively fed his pregnant wife in his arms, as if seeing her full made him full too.

When Azi heard about Di Jinghan and Li Yannian's affair, she couldn't help but become interested.

"Ah Cheng, what are you planning to do?" Ah Zi slowly chewed the food in her mouth, looking at the man with curious eyes.

Di Jingcheng gently rubbed her little head: "They have their own paths to walk. As Jinghan's elders, we can offer guidance and assistance, but let the two of them experience it on their own."

“That’s right, matters of the heart are indeed between two people, and I think you did the right thing. But if you transfer Li Yannian to Dongyang, won’t there be no room for progress between the two of you?”

“Honey, think about it, how can these two understand the problem without going through some hardship? If the problem doesn’t come to light, it won’t be solved. Just watch, Jinghan will definitely catch up.” Di Jingcheng’s tone was full of confidence.

"But I heard Jinghan talk about Li Yannian's family a few days ago, and it seems they're not easy to deal with. If Jinghan really marries Li Yannian, will she be able to handle it?" Azi asked with some worry. She had heard a lot about the struggles between powerful families, and the descriptions in the storybooks were terrifying to think about!

Thinking back to when she first entered the palace, those women were utterly annoying. Fortunately, her Ah Cheng only loved her, and only wanted her.

Thinking of this, Azi picked up a small handkerchief to wipe her mouth, tilted her head back and left a kiss on the man's face.

Looking at her suddenly excited expression, Di Jingcheng kissed her back affectionately: "What's making you so happy!"

“I don’t have that kind of trouble. My Cheng has solved everything for me.” She nestled gently against the man’s chest, her smile sweet.

Di Jingcheng was also beaming with happiness: "My darling deserves the best of everything in the world."

"Cheng, have you taken care of everything outside? Thank you for your hard work." Zi said kindly, picking up her chopsticks to feed him.

"Don't worry, my dear, these things are a piece of cake. There are many capable people in the court, and they are not just sitting around doing nothing." As Di Jingcheng spoke, he remembered Di Jingyuan's matter, which was the only thing that hadn't been resolved.

"Yes, yes, you must tell me if anything is on your mind. I want to share some of your burdens. I don't want you to be too tired!" Azi said, feeling sorry for him, and then put some food on his plate and fed it to him.

"Of course I would, my husband would not lie to Azi. Right now, there is something I want to tell Azi." After hesitating for a long time, Di Jingcheng decided to tell her about cutting off his own flesh to save her in order to avoid unnecessary trouble and conflict in the future.
