Ranla Azi and Shige Yimeng led Di Jingcheng and the surviving guard down the mountain towards the Yi tribe in the valley. To avoid disturbing their people with the two outsiders, they took the two back home via a relatively secluded path.
When they returned home, it was already dusk, so the people in the tribe did not notice them.
The two took the person back to Ranla Azi's home, because in the Yi tribe, the elder who was most skilled in medicine was her grandfather, and Azi felt that there was no safer way than to take the person back to her home.
They returned home, bypassed the front room, and led the person directly to the small attic next to Azi's room. The attic was at the very end of the second-floor corridor, and usually no one went in; only Azi would go in to store some things.
Inside was a small wooden bed piled high with things. Azi and the other three sneaked up to the second floor. The guard immediately moved the things off the bed, and Azi brought another set of bedding from her room and put it on. The guard helped Yimeng place the unconscious Di Jingcheng on the bed.
"Don't make a sound, I'll go find someone to check his wound. Brother Gemeng, go get a basin of hot water and clean it for him." After saying that, Azi hurriedly ran out.
Yimeng was a kind-hearted young man. He didn't think much of it and quickly brought over a basin of hot water.
"Thank you for saving my life. I'll do this myself!" The guard saw Shi Ge Yimeng holding a hot towel and was about to step forward to wipe Di Jingcheng's body when he was hurriedly stopped by the guard.
Shi Geyi smiled shyly and looked at the hot towel in his hand: "Okay, I was being presumptuous. You can do it."
The guard thanked him and took the hot towel. The two large men carefully cleaned the man on the bed, putting in a lot of effort, but they didn't touch his wounds.
On the other side, after running out, Azi ran to the west room in the backyard to find her grandfather. She moved very quietly, afraid of disturbing her parents.
The old gentleman was quite old, but still very healthy. He was fiddling with his precious medical books in the room, which was filled with a strong smell of Chinese medicine, making people feel very at ease.
Azi leaned against Ranla Junlun's window, watching him study medical books under the lamplight, writing something on a piece of paper beside him with a pen—it was their Yi ethnic script.
"What's wrong with Little Azi again?" Ran Lajunlun looked up and asked with a smile.
"Grandpa, I need your help!" Azi's eyes were full of expectation, but also tinged with a hint of worry.
The old man put down his pen, gently stroked his beard, his eyes full of affection, and waited quietly for her to speak.
"Grandpa, Brother Yimeng and I rescued someone on the mountain. He was seriously injured. Could you go and check on his injuries?" Azi asked anxiously, not because she had any special feelings for Di Jingcheng, but entirely because of her kindness.
The old man knew his granddaughter's kindness, and Yimeng was also a very good young man, so it wasn't surprising that the two of them saved someone. It's just... I wonder, who did they save?
The old man walked in front, with Azi following behind. "Grandpa, the person is in the attic next to my room. Let's hurry," Azi said in a low voice, while keeping an eye on her parents' room, afraid of disturbing them or the other elders.
After all, the two people they brought back appeared to be from the Central Plains, judging by their attire. Their identities were unknown. For many years, few outsiders had entered their village; her mother was an exception. Therefore, not many people here could speak the Central Plains dialect; only her family members and a few elders could understand some.
As for the villagers in the village, they only speak the Yi language. They don't know if it will cause panic once they find out about the arrival of outsiders, so the fewer people who know about this, the better.
The grandfather and grandson tiptoed to the attic, where two large men were already helping the unconscious Di Jingcheng wash his body, avoiding his wounds.
The old man looked at the man gently covered by the blanket. He was handsome and extremely dashing. Even though he was pale and looked disheveled at the moment, it did not affect his noble temperament in the slightest. The old man put down his medicine box and examined the man's wounds with a complicated expression.
"Azi, go find some clean gauze." The old man deliberately sent his granddaughter away.
"Okay! Grandpa!"
Azi hurriedly ran out, and the old man then pulled the blanket off Di Jingcheng and treated his wounds. Fortunately, the wounds were not vital, but they were on his abdomen and he had lost a lot of blood, so they looked particularly shocking.
When Azi returned, the old man, with the help of two men, had already treated Di Jingcheng's wounds, and he was now lying peacefully in bed. Shi Geyimeng had taken the guard out to prepare the medicine, leaving only the three of them in the room.
The old man sat to one side, his expression somewhat serious: "Azi, do you know who he is?"
Azi looked curiously at the handsome man on the bed. He looked different from the men of their ethnic group. His skin was fairer, and although his features were upright and handsome, they were completely different from their deep features.
She was the most beautiful woman in the village. Her fair skin was inherited from her mother, who came from the Central Plains. Her features carried a hint of the charm of women from the Central Plains, and she also had a strong ethnic flavor. At the most innocent and naive age, she was as beautiful as a gorgeous camellia. She was truly beautiful.
Azi was lost in thought. Could it be that this man and his subordinate were also from the Central Plains? That would be quite a coincidence! She looked at her grandfather: "Grandpa, is he from the Central Plains?"
The old man nodded: "It should be right. We need to get them away as soon as possible."
Azi thought for a moment, her eyes full of confusion and a smile: "Yes! Grandpa, don't worry, I won't let him cause trouble for the village."
“Azi, you are still young, you should keep a certain distance from strange men. I will let Yimeng handle this matter.”
After much deliberation, the old gentleman finally spoke.
Ranla Azi asked in confusion, "Grandpa, I will be careful, but I want to help take care of him. With Brother Youmeng here, nothing will happen."
"Yes, Grandpa will heal him as soon as possible and then let him leave. It's getting late, Grandpa will go back first, you go back to your room and rest!" The old man gave the order, watched his granddaughter go into the room, then turned and went into the kitchen on the second floor, carefully giving Shi Ge Yimeng some instructions before leaving.
Only Di Jingcheng remained in the attic, lying motionless on the bed.
The guard returned with the medicine and, with Shi Ge Yimeng's help, fed it to Di Jingcheng. By the time everything was packed up, it was already midnight.
The guards made a makeshift bed on the floor and went to sleep, while Shi Ge Yimeng returned to his room on the first floor. (Shi Ge Yimeng would have a room in Ran La A Zi's house because his grandfather was an elder, his father was a powerful figure in the village, and he and Ran La A Zi had grown up together as childhood sweethearts.)
Everything in the village returned to peace.
