Jiang Wenwan frowned, looking at the smug Hu Qinghua with surprise.
Are you going back to the city?
Tell me what excuse you used.
"Hmph, I'm not telling you!"
Hu Qinghua rolled her eyes at her. Did she think she was stupid?

Jiang Wenwan looked at Wang Jianguo.
"What, you're going back by yourself?"
Isn't your partner going back?
I've heard of women abandoning their wives who have shared hardship; you're going to abandon your husband who has shared hardship too? Tsk tsk!
Hu Qinghua paused, his previously arrogant and domineering demeanor immediately diminishing, and glared at Jiang Wenwan.
"Mind your own business. Your girlfriend hasn't been writing to you lately. Maybe she's dumped you?"
Jiang Wenwan smiled and looked her up and down.
"From what you're saying, you also want to find someone to join the army? Then why did you go through all that trouble to secretly pull these dirty tricks in the first place?"
"We're going to separate anyway, so why don't you take Wang Jianguo with you when you go back?"
With Wang Jianguo?
How could that be?
He looked at Wang Jianguo with a hesitant gaze.
He forced a smile and then said:
"When I get back, I will definitely find a way to get Wang Jianguo transferred back to the city. You don't need to worry about this!"
You'll just stay here and farm the land for the rest of your life, cutting pig feed, and be a country bumpkin!
Jiang Wenwan scoffed. When she got back, she would definitely take a good look at Hu Qinghua and see what he was really up to.
I've already put her here under my control, how can she possibly go back?
Fortunately, they managed to get her under their noses; otherwise, they would have sent her to some faraway place.
Doesn't that mean she didn't even know she went back?
But what about Wang Jianguo? Will he also join the army?

Hu Qinghua was startled by her appearance.

Wang Jianguo, however, smiled gently at Hu Qinghua after hearing her words.
He secretly hoped that Hu Qinghua really had a way to help him go back.
He'd heard that in the Northeast, the snow could be so heavy in winter that it would seal the doors shut, and he didn't want to spend the winter there.
I don't want to stay here year after year.
"I believe you. Remember to write to me when you get back."
"Don't worry, I definitely will."
"After I leave tomorrow, don't give me all my things."
Wang Jianguo still smiled when she said that.
The next day, Hu Qinghua packed his things and returned to the city.
He left with a smug look on his face.
The people in the educated youth settlement fell silent again; it was another day of envy, jealousy, and resentment.
Jiang Wenwan didn't care, since she would be returning to the city anyway. However, she was still very curious about why Hu Qinghua would be returning to the city.
She led her wolf cubs down the mountain, making a point of passing by the brigade leader's house.
Sure enough, the old captain came back from outside, his hands behind his back, holding a pipe.
"Hello, Captain! Where have you been?"
The captain noticed her pause.
"You're not here to find out why Hu Qinghua returned to the city, are you?"
Jiang Wenwan: ...?
"Hehe, Captain, what are you saying? Hu Zhiqing and I are like sisters. How could I not even know why she returned to the city?"
I certainly didn't come here to inquire about this; I just happened to be passing by, haha!
The captain waved his hand at her with a "Do you think I believe you?" look on his face.
"I won't tell anyone, get back to work!"
Jiang Wenwan left with a smile on her face, carrying the pig feed on her back.
He hadn't gone far before his expression returned to normal, wondering who had asked the captain for information and was trying to alert them.
Before they even reached the pigpen, they encountered Maddie, whose dog was lurking at the entrance. When it saw Jiang Wenwan approaching, it waved at her.
Jiang Wenwan: ...
Very good, she knows who went to ask the captain.
Sure enough, as soon as I walked over, I saw him looking around mysteriously, and only approaching me after making sure no one was around.
"I just went to ask the brigade leader why Hu Zhiqing was transferred back to Chengdu."
Guess what?

Matthias paused.
Then, as if remembering something, he stared at her with wide eyes.
"You also went to ask the village chief?"
Jiang Wenwan rolled her eyes at him, walked past him towards the pigsty, and then heard him say:
"Hey, I don't know why the captain is so tight-lipped, but something that can make the captain so tight-lipped must be something special."
"so what?"
Before he could answer, Jiang Wenwan walked past him toward the pigsty, took two steps back, and looked at him with a shifty gaze, saying:
"If you can't find out from the battalion commander, you can ask Wang Jianguo!"
Hearing her say that, Ma Debi's eyes lit up and he said:
"That's right! How come I didn't think of that? It's like sitting on a mountain of treasure without even realizing it."
Go back and ask him now.
What are you two talking about?
Zhang Weiguo saw the two of them talking from afar, ran over and heard his words, and frowned to ask.
