Chapter 258 Battalion Three, Disband (1/2)

Chapter 258 Battalion Three, Disband! Lei Kuan took a deep breath and announced in a loud voice:

"All personnel, listen up! We have just received a notification from higher command that the original joint military exercise plan has been changed! A special envoy from the military region headquarters has arrived at our unit, and the rules of this exercise will be announced directly by headquarters! The exercise shall begin immediately!"

What? !

These words caused an uproar in the audience!

Start immediately? No time to prepare?

What is this? A surprise inspection?

Everyone was stunned, their minds buzzing.

Just as everyone was becoming increasingly puzzled, a deep and unique rumbling sound came from the horizon, growing louder as it approached.

"Buzz—buzz—"

Everyone looked up at the same time.

A Z-5 military helicopter painted in military green camouflage appeared above the camp, tearing through the morning mist like a giant iron dragonfly, exuding a strong sense of oppression.

The massive airflow whipped up by the propellers sent sand and gravel flying everywhere, stinging their faces. The trainees had to squint and shield their faces with their hands, their hearts filled with turmoil.

A helicopter?!

This is not something a reserve battalion like theirs would ever see! This is at least of the level of the military region headquarters!

Under everyone's watchful eyes, the helicopter landed smoothly on the open ground next to the playground. The cabin door opened, and a middle-aged officer wearing a crisp Type 65 military uniform and carrying the rank of colonel with two bars and three stars stepped out of the cabin.

He was around fifty years old, with a tall and straight figure, a resolute face, and an imposing presence.

He simply stood there calmly, yet an aura of seasoned veterans and those who wielded power emanated from him, instilling a sense of awe and oppression in all the spirited young soldiers present.

Lei Kuan and Han Feng, the chief instructor of the Second Battalion, almost ran to meet him, snapped to attention and saluted loudly in front of the colonel.

"Reporting, Commander! Lei Kuan, Chief Instructor of the Third Battalion of the Hunter Reserve Battalion, reporting for duty!"

"Reporting, Commander! Han Feng, Chief Instructor of Battalion No. 2, reporting for duty!"

The colonel simply nodded slightly in return, then strode forward to stand before all the cadets.

His gaze, sharp as a knife, slowly swept over everyone in both battalions. Those he looked at felt as if they were being stared at by a tiger, instinctively straightening their chests and even lowering their breathing.

"Greetings, comrades." The colonel began, his voice not loud, but clearly reaching everyone's ears. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Zheng Hongyi, Deputy Director of the Operations Department of the Beijing Military Region. I am in full charge of this joint military exercise."

Beijing Military Region! Deputy Director of the Operations Department!

These words, like heavy bombs, exploded in the hearts of the trainees.

Good heavens! What level of exercise is this? It's alarmed even the top leaders in Beijing!

Ignoring the shock of the crowd, Zheng Hongyi pulled out a map from his pocket and got straight to the point.

"Now, I will announce the new exercise rules." Zheng Hongyi unfolded the map and pointed to it. "The exercise area is this mountainous area with a radius of fifty kilometers right here. The exercise will last for three days and two nights."

"The exercise uses a points system. On the map, there are five strategic strongholds: A, B, C, D, and E, as well as your respective base camps. Capturing any stronghold adds 10 points to your faction every hour. 'Killing' an enemy soldier earns 5 points. 'Killing' an enemy commander or squad leader earns 50 points."

"There are two ways to determine the outcome of the exercise. First, the team with the higher score wins after three days."

"Of course, there's an even simpler and more direct way to win." Zheng Hongyi slammed his baton down on the two base locations on the map. "Destroy the enemy's command center at their base, and you'll win immediately! The exercise ends right now!"

The rules are simple, brutal, and full of bloodshed.

Everyone listened with a heavy heart.
