"Your Honor! I was wrong! I was really wrong! Please! Spare me! I'll never do it again! I don't want to die! Waaah..."
She was in tears, and there was no trace of her usual aloofness.
"Drag him away!" The presiding judge waved his hand expressionlessly.
In the audience, people exchanged bewildered glances, still shaken. This outcome was truly... utterly tragic!
Su Tang looked in the direction Yan Manman was being dragged away and sighed softly.
She didn't feel joy, but rather a sense of sadness.
Qin Ye squeezed her hand and said softly, "It's all in the past."
Su Tang smiled calmly. Yes, it's all in the past.
This was Su Tang's first official day reporting for work at the General Hospital of the Military Region.
Qin Ye cleaned his old bicycle until it gleamed early in the morning, insisting on personally taking her to the hospital on it. Su Tang couldn't refuse him, so she had no choice but to let him.
Upon arriving at the hospital entrance, Qin Ye brought the car to a steady stop, bracing himself with his long legs in a swift and stylish motion.
"Go inside and work hard. I'll pick you up after get off work." He looked at Su Tang with gentle eyes, as if he were instructing his own child on their way to school.
Su Tang felt a sweet warmth in her heart, but still said:
"No need, I can go back by myself. You must be busy at the military base. Don't let it interfere with your business."
"I'm going that way anyway." Qin Ye's tone was unquestionable, carrying the unyielding authority characteristic of a soldier.
Knowing his stubborn temper, Su Tang didn't insist any further and nodded with a smile.
She turned and walked towards the hospital gate. Qin Ye stood there, his eyes following her until she disappeared into the outpatient building, before reluctantly getting on his bike and leaving.
She first went to Dean He Shumin's office.
He Shumin arrived earlier and was waiting for her. When she saw her come in, she couldn't stop smiling.
"You're here, come and sit down."
She personally poured Su Tang a glass of water, jasmine tea brewed in an enamel mug—a fine thing these days.
"Tangtang, do you have any preferences regarding job positions? Which department would you like to work in?"
He Shumin asked gently, her eyes filled with a hint of inquiry.
Su Tang picked up her teacup, took a sip, and then said slowly, "Mom, I will obey the organization's arrangements."
She knew that He Shumin was watching her attitude.
Upon hearing this, He Shumin nodded in satisfaction, her eyes showing even more appreciation.
"Good, you've got the awareness."
She took a document out of the drawer and handed it to Su Tang.
"This is the decision made by the Party Committee of the Academy after careful consideration regarding your appointment."
"Considering your resume, your rescue of Chief Engineer Liang on the train, and the superb medical skills you have demonstrated in our hospital, the Party Committee of the hospital has unanimously decided to appoint you as the Deputy Chief Physician of Surgery at the General Hospital of the Military Region, temporarily serving as the leader of the Second Surgical Group, and reporting directly to the Director of the Department."
He is the deputy chief physician of surgery and also the leader of the second group!
In this day and age, this position is an exceptional promotion for a young person in their early twenties; it's the highest possible position.
Su Tang knew in her heart that while her own abilities played a part, the influence of He Shumin and Engineer Liang's connections also contributed significantly.
"Thank you, Mom. Thank you for the organization's trust. I will definitely work hard and live up to your expectations."
Throughout the day, under Su Tang's leadership, the second surgical team worked in an orderly manner and the situation was relatively calm.
Su Tang packed her things and prepared to return to her own courtyard. She had arranged to have dinner with Qin Ye after get off work.
As soon as she reached the hospital entrance, Su Tang spotted that familiar and tall figure.
Qin Ye was indeed waiting there early on.
He was wearing a crisp military uniform.
He leaned against the gleaming old bicycle, his long legs casually crossed, looking like he was posing for a magazine.
The setting sun shone on his sculpted face, making him seem to glow.
People came and went at the hospital entrance. Many nurses and military wives who were off duty passed by, their eyes glued to him.
"Hey, isn't that Commander Qin? My god, he's even more handsome in person than the legends say!"
"Is he waiting for someone? Who is he waiting for? Could it be his new wife?"
"Of course! I heard they have a great relationship, and Commander Qin cherishes them! Look at him, glancing at the hospital entrance every now and then, he's definitely waiting for Dr. Su!"
The murmurs were neither too loud nor too soft, and Su Tang overheard most of them, a slight smile involuntarily creeping onto her lips.
The moment he saw Su Tang come out, his originally cold and stern face suddenly brightened, and his eyes instantly lit up.
"Tangtang, over here!" He straightened up and waved to Su Tang.
Su Tang quickened her pace and walked over, giving him a playful, reproachful look:
"Why are you here so early? Have you been waiting long?"
"No, I just arrived," Qin Ye said without changing his expression. In fact, he had arrived half an hour earlier, afraid that Su Tang wouldn't be able to find him when she came out.
He naturally took the small cloth bag from Su Tang's hand, hung it on the handlebars, and then patted the back seat: "Get in, let's go home!"
Su Tang gracefully sat in the back seat, skillfully reaching out to gently wrap her arms around his lean waist.
Back in their little courtyard.
The afterglow of the setting sun bathed the entire courtyard in a warm golden hue.
The vegetable seedlings and fruit trees that Su Tang nurtured with the spiritual spring water are now lush and vibrant.
As soon as Qin Ye entered the courtyard, he went straight to the kitchen, skillfully tied on Su Tang's small floral apron, and began to bustle about.
