Su Tang watched his tall figure busily working in the small kitchen, looking slightly clumsy yet incredibly earnest, rinsing rice and washing vegetables, a fine layer of sweat beading on his forehead, and felt a warm glow in her heart.
Qin Ye remembered that Su Tang was from Shanghai and was used to eating rice. Although they were from the north and their staple food was wheat, he still specially steamed rice for Su Tang.
She walked into the kitchen and gently hugged his waist from behind: "Let me help?"
Qin Ye's body stiffened for a moment, then relaxed. He took her hand in his own, his voice tinged with amusement:
"No need, you must be tired on your first day of work. Go and rest, I'll take care of it. Today I'll let you try my cooking, I guarantee it'll be better than the baked bread slices you made last time!"
Su Tang was amused by him, and remembering the piece of steamed bun that was a mix of burnt black and raw white last time, she couldn't help but tease him:
"Then I'll have to look forward to Chef Qin's masterpiece."
Before long, the aroma of food wafted out of the kitchen.
A plate of stir-fried shredded pork with green peppers, the pork tender and the green peppers crisp; a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, vibrant in color and with a delightful sweet and sour flavor; and a bowl of steaming egg drop soup. Although they are all home-style dishes, it's clear that they were made with care.
The two sat down around the small square table, the dim light of the oil lamp illuminating the small house, making it exceptionally warm and peaceful.
"How was your first day at work? Are your colleagues easy to get along with? Has anyone bullied you?" Qin Ye asked with concern as he placed a piece of shredded meat on Su Tang's plate, just like a worried old father.
Su Tang swallowed the rice in her mouth, feeling sweet inside: "It's all good. Dean He... oh no, Mom has arranged everything. My colleagues are all very friendly too. Nobody dares to bully me. Your wife isn't someone to be trifled with." She winked playfully at Qin Ye.
Qin Ye couldn't help but smile at her smug look, his eyes full of doting affection: "That's good." As long as she was happy and things went smoothly, he was relieved.
After the meal, Qin Ye took the initiative to clear the dishes and chopsticks, and quickly washed them clean.
The two were digesting their food in the yard.
The moonlight, like water, spilled onto the lush vegetable garden that Su Tang had nurtured from the space, its subtle fragrance wafting through the air.
"When...when are we going to get our marriage certificate?" Qin Ye's voice rang out in the quiet night, carrying a hint of barely perceptible urgency.
Su Tang turned her head to look at him; in the moonlight, his rugged features softened somewhat.
She deliberately hesitated for a moment, then took out a small calendar from her pocket, which she had Qin Ye specially obtained for her.
By the moonlight, she tapped it with her slender fingers: "How about tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow?" Qin Ye's voice rose a few decibels, the surprise coming too suddenly.
"Yes." Su Tang nodded with a smile. "I checked, tomorrow is an auspicious day for marriage."
Qin Ye felt a surge of heat rise from the bottom of his heart and instantly spread to his limbs and bones.
He gazed at Su Tang's profile, which appeared even more radiant and delicate in the moonlight, a few strands of hair gently caressed by the night breeze, brushing against his heart.
He could no longer restrain himself; his Adam's apple bobbed, and he suddenly bent over.
A slightly clumsy yet incredibly precious kiss gently landed on her cool cheek.
Su Tang's body stiffened slightly, and the warm touch on her cheek made her heart race.
She could sense Qin Ye's nervousness and his cautious affection.
A surge of inexplicable courage welled up inside me.
The next second, she suddenly stood on tiptoe and wrapped her fair arms around his strong neck.
Before he could react, she planted a kiss on his slightly parted lips.
The moment their soft surfaces touched, Qin Ye froze completely, his mind going blank.
He could clearly feel the soft warmth of her lips, carrying a sweet fragrance, like the finest wine, intoxicating him.
Su Tang's kiss, which began with a hint of probing, quickly became bold and passionate.
Qin Ye's breathing instantly became heavy.
He was completely ignited by her sudden passion, and almost instinctively took the initiative, deepening the kiss.
The awkward initial attempts quickly turned into an entanglement, and the only sounds in the air were their increasingly rapid heartbeats and intertwined breaths.
Everything around them seemed to freeze, with only the moonlight quietly pouring down, casting a hazy glow over them.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Tang finally released him, slightly out of breath, her cheeks flushed red and her eyes shining brightly.
Qin Ye was still somewhat dazed, looking at her with unfocused eyes, as if he hadn't yet recovered from the extreme experience he had just had.
Seeing his dazed expression, Su Tang found it amusing and, with a hint of mischief, looked up at him and asked:
"Hey, Commander Qin, tell me honestly, this... could it be your first kiss?"
Qin Ye's face flushed bright red instantly, even his ears burned, his eyes darted around, and his voice stammered.
"Yes! Of course! And... what about you? Was this your first kiss too?"
He asked the question, his tone revealing a nervousness and anticipation that he himself was unaware of.
Su Tang found his innocent yet eager appearance extremely adorable.
She deliberately kept everyone in suspense, her eyes sparkling as she playfully winked:
"Me? Guess."
I won't tell you.
"Hey, you..." Qin Ye became a little anxious upon hearing this.
He held onto Su Tang's hand tightly, insisting that she give him a clear answer.
Su Tang smiled and tried to break free, but he held her even tighter.
The two chased and frolicked under the moonlight, their clear laughter filling the courtyard and adding a touch of sweetness to the deep night.
The weather was exceptionally clear that day, and the warm sunshine shone down on people.
Qin Ye dragged Su Tang out of bed early in the morning.
"Tangtang, get up quickly, we have something important to do today." Qin Ye gently called out to Su Tang a few times.
