Chapter 63 Let's Go Beachcombing (1/2)

I had some dumplings at Sister Sheng's house for lunch. The oyster dumplings were delicious, and with the addition of chives, they weren't fishy at all.

Ruan Yunxi ate some wontons and wasn't very hungry right now. She hid the leftovers in her spatial storage and would take them out to eat when she felt like it.

In the afternoon, I took her to go beachcombing, as the two children needed to take a nap at noon.

Ruan Yunxi also went back to take a nap. She couldn't sleep, so she let her pet cat out to get some fresh air.

She lives alone and isn't afraid of being discovered that she's hiding a beautiful Persian cat.

After playing for a while, Amber realized that this place was unfamiliar and was not the mansion where it used to live. It looked around curiously and even peered out the window. It was certain that this was not its old home.

Ruan Yunxi noticed its unease and patted the cat's head: "We'll stay here for now. After ten years or so, we'll go back to Shanghai. Don't worry, with me here, you won't go hungry. Shrimp or fish?"

Amber nuzzled her head and hooked her hand with its tail, looking incredibly cute.

Ruan Yunxi took out fish and shrimp from her spatial storage and fed them to the little guy. The little guy ate the peeled and deboned fish and shrimp with great relish.

After taking a short nap, Amber also slept next to her.

When Sister-in-law Sheng came to find her, Ruan Yunxi put the drowsy Amber into her space, tidied up and went out: "Let's go, I'll take you to go beachcombing. Remember to bring a small bucket, you can put sea snails, scallops, oysters and the like."

Ruan Yunxi found a small bucket in the kitchen and followed along happily.

Believe it or not, I've never been to the sea before!

Now that we're by the sea, and there's nothing to do here, we can go beachcombing.

Little Cherry was very happy to see her, and waved with a smile, wanting a hug. Ruan Yunxi hugged Little Cherry and led her down the mountain with Sister-in-law Sheng.

Their residential compound has a back gate, and this was Ruan Yunxi's first time visiting it.

"The main gate is relatively remote, so people prefer to go out through the back gate. There are two small fishing villages behind it, and this area is more lively. Sometimes when you want to eat seafood, you can come to the back gate to take a look. Many fishermen will secretly take out the fish, shrimp and other seafood they have caught to sell."

"They provided the seafood for your wedding banquet. It was cheaper and fresher than what the supply and marketing cooperative offered!"

Ruan Yunxi understood: "Thank you for telling me, sister-in-law."

Sister-in-law Sheng had been instructed by Gu Weizhou to take Ruan Yunxi around to familiarize her with the surrounding environment, understand the local customs, and some things that couldn't be discussed openly.

For example, when it comes to buying seafood, you can only say you're exchanging it with someone from your hometown, not that you're buying it.

If you are targeted by someone with ulterior motives and get caught, you will be labeled as a speculator.

After some discussion, the group quickly arrived at the beach.

Not only them, but other women from the family compound also came to the beach.

Today is low tide, a good day for beachcombing.

Ruan Yunxi asked, "How did you know it would be low tide today so we could go beachcombing?"

Sister-in-law Sheng pointed to the wooden board next to her, on which the tide table and the time for beachcombing were written in chalk. That's how they knew about the tides.

The seawater is still very turbulent now, but it will recede in time, and the seawater will rise again in about a few hours.

Ruan Yunxi went over to take a look and was surprised to find that there was a special notice.

That's great. In the future, if she wants to go beachcombing, she can check the schedule to know when it's a good time to go.

Ruan Yunxi had only been out for a short while when her sister-in-law pursed her lips, seemingly surprised to see her.

"Why is she here too?"

"She's a capitalist's daughter who's always waited on hand and foot, what does she know about beachcombing?"

"How could a capitalist's daughter, with so much money and plenty of cash, possibly compete with us for our groceries?"

The wind was strong, and Ruan Yunxi couldn't hear what they were saying, but judging from their expressions, she knew they weren't saying anything nice.

Ruan Yunxi glanced at them coldly, and perhaps feeling guilty and not wanting to cause trouble, she immediately stopped talking about Ruan Yunxi.

The sister-in-law, who had expressed her dissatisfaction, also felt bored without someone to set the stage for her.
