Chapter 309 He kicked me

Chapter 309 He kicked me

After Qiao Lingling's matter was settled, the gossip in the compound completely stopped.

Su Wantang's life returned to normal.

As she entered her third month of pregnancy, her belly was noticeably protruding, and the nausea and vomiting that had plagued her earlier had disappeared, giving her an unusually good appetite.

That morning, Su Wantang ate two bowls of millet porridge, three meat buns, and drank a large bowl of chicken soup.

Meng Wan sat opposite her daughter-in-law, watching her eat with relish, and her face beamed with joy.

"Wantang, your good appetite means your baby will grow quickly."

Su Wantang put down her bowl and wiped her mouth. "Mom, I want to eat everything I see now."

Meng Wan nodded with a smile. "That's a good thing; it means the child is healthy."

Lu Jingyan sat beside her, staring intently at his wife's belly.

He reached out, wanting to touch it but not daring to.

Su Wantang saw this and grabbed his hand, placing it on her stomach. "Go ahead and touch it, it won't break."

Lu Jingyan placed his palm on his wife's slightly protruding belly, his movements as light as if he were touching a porcelain piece.

Meng Wan laughed when she saw her son's expression. "Jingyan, you were never this careful when you were fighting on the battlefield."

Lu Jingyan raised his head and said seriously, "That's different."

He paused, then said, "This is my son."

Su Wantang rolled her eyes at him. "Maybe it's a daughter."

Lu Jingyan shook his head. "Sons and daughters are the same, they are both my treasures."

Upon hearing this, Meng Wan stood up with a smile. "Alright, alright, you two can keep being lovey-dovey. I'm going to check on Jing Yue."

When Lu Jingyue was mentioned, Su Wantang's expression became more serious.

After being rescued from Hong Kong Island, Lu Jingyue has been living in the Lu family's old house. Her physical recovery is quite good, but her consciousness is still not very clear, and her memory is incomplete.

Sometimes she could recognize Lu Jingyan, and sometimes she treated him like a stranger.

Lu Zhenguo hired the best doctors for this, but they were helpless and could only say to let him rest slowly and see if he could recover.

Su Wantang has been taking care of Lu Jingyue's health during this time, using all the good things from her space.

She knew that Lu Jingyue's memory loss was related to the torture she suffered in the laboratory back then.

Those people injected her with too many random drugs, which damaged her nerves.

A full recovery will take time.

After Meng Wan left, Lu Jingyan remained lying on Su Wantang's stomach, his ear pressed against hers, listening for a long time.

"Wantang, why isn't he moving?"

Su Wantang laughed. "It's only been three months, how could there be fetal movement so soon?"

Lu Jingyan looked up, his eyes full of anticipation. "When can we move?"

Su Wantang thought for a moment. "Soon, it should be in the next few days."

Lu Jingyan nodded and then put his ear back down.

His greatest joy each day was lying on his wife's belly and talking to their unborn child.

Sometimes he would tell the children battle stories in a very serious manner, explaining how to ambush and how to break through enemy lines.

Sometimes he would read military regulations, reading them one by one very carefully.

Su Wantang was both amused and exasperated every time she heard it.

"Jingyan, the baby is still in your belly. Can he understand what you're saying?"

Lu Jingyan raised his head and said very seriously, "You have to listen even if you don't understand, so that you can cultivate military literacy in advance."

Su Wantang chuckled. "Aren't you afraid that the first thing the baby will say after it's born is 'Report'?"

Lu Jingyan thought for a moment and nodded. "That's fine too."

Su Wantang was completely at a loss.

The sun was shining brightly in the afternoon.

Su Wantang leaned back in a recliner in the courtyard, holding a medical book in her hands.

Lu Jingyan was peeling an apple beside him, peeling it very carefully, until the skin was as thin as paper.

The courtyard was very quiet, with only the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves.

Su Wantang flipped through the book, her eyelids feeling heavy.

She's been getting sleepy very easily lately, and often falls asleep while reading.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, a strange feeling suddenly came from her lower abdomen.

The feeling was very light, like a little fish blowing bubbles, gently moving inside my stomach.

Su Wantang opened her eyes instantly, her whole body stiffening.

She held her breath and placed her hand on her lower abdomen.

A few seconds later, that spot was gently nudged again.

This time it's much clearer.

It's fetal movement!

Su Wantang's eyes reddened instantly, and tears almost fell.

She was sick for ten years in her previous life and never thought she could have a child.

Now that little life is moving inside her, the feeling is indescribable.

She was so excited that her hands were trembling, and she grabbed Lu Jingyan's hand and pressed it against her stomach.

"Jingyan! He moved! He moved!"

Lu Jingyan was peeling an apple when he heard this, and he almost dropped the knife.

He threw down the knife and placed his hand on his wife's belly.

As soon as it was applied, I felt a powerful kick.

That kick struck his palm, and it also struck his heart.

Lu Jingyan froze completely.

His eyes widened, his mouth slightly open, but he couldn't utter a word.

This man, who was decisive and ruthless on the battlefield, was now staring blankly at his hands, as if he had been dumbfounded.

It took him several seconds to realize what was happening.

Then, large tears rolled down his cheeks.

Lu Jingyan lay on his wife's stomach, crying like a child.

"He kicked me..."

His voice was choked with emotion.

"Wantang, he kicked me..."

Su Wantang also cried and reached out to wipe his tears.

"I know, I feel it."

Lu Jingyan raised his head, his eyes frighteningly red.

"He really kicked me..."

He repeated the sentence over and over again, tears streaming down his face.

Su Wantang looked at him, feeling a mix of bittersweet emotions.

She knew that Lu Jingyan had shed more tears in his entire life than he had today.

Lu Jingyan cried for a while, then suddenly stood up and ran into the house.

Su Wantang was taken aback. "Where are you going?"

Lu Jingyan didn't even turn his head. "I'm going to call Mom and Dad!"

He ran into the house and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Dad! Mom! The baby is moving!"

The sound was so loud that the whole courtyard could hear it.

Meng Wan was talking to Lu Jingyue when she heard this and immediately stood up.

"What? I felt the baby move?"

She grabbed Lu Jingyue and ran outside.

Lu Zhenguo was reading documents in his study when he heard the noise, so he put down his pen and came out.

Grandpa Lu was drinking tea when he heard his grandson's shout, and he almost dropped his teacup.

"What's all the fuss about, brat?"

He said that, but his feet moved very quickly.

The whole family gathered in the yard.

Su Wantang was still sitting in the recliner, looking at this large family, feeling a little embarrassed.

Meng Wan walked over and squatted down beside her. "Wantang, is the baby really moving?"

Su Wantang nodded. "Yes, it moved twice just now."

Meng Wan's eyes lit up, and she reached out to touch it, but then hesitated.

Can I touch it?

Su Wantang smiled. "Mom, you can touch it."

Meng Wan carefully placed her hand on her daughter-in-law's stomach, but after waiting for a long time, nothing happened.

She was a little disappointed. "Why isn't it moving?"

Grandpa Lu walked over with his cane, looked at the family gathered around the pregnant woman, and shook his head.

"With you doing this, it's no wonder the child can't move."

He paused, then said, "With so many people, the children get shy."

Lu Jingyan stood to the side, wiping away his tears.

"Dad, Grandpa is right. You should go back first. The baby will move again in a little while."

Meng Wan was reluctant to leave. "I'll wait a little longer."

Lu Zhenguo nodded as well. "I'll wait too."

Grandpa Lu looked at the family and sighed.

"Alright, alright, stop crowding around and let Wan Tang get some rest."

He turned around and walked back, but after taking two steps, he turned back again.

"Wantang, if the baby moves again, remember to call me."

Su Wantang nodded with a smile. "Okay, Grandpa."

The family then dispersed.

Lu Jingyue was pulled away by Meng Wan. She glanced back at Su Wantang, a look of confusion flashing in her eyes.

She didn't quite understand what had just happened, but seeing everyone so happy, she smiled too.

The courtyard fell silent again.

Lu Jingyan sat back down next to Su Wantang, his hand still on her stomach.

"Wantang, can he still move?"

Su Wantang nodded. "Yes, I will do it often in the future."

Lu Jingyan's eyes were full of anticipation. "Then I'll wait."

He just sat there, his hand on his wife's stomach, without moving.

After a while, my stomach moved again.

Lu Jingyan immediately raised his head, his eyes shining brightly.

It moved again!

Su Wantang smiled. "I know."

Lu Jingyan lay down, pressed his face against his wife's belly, and spoke in a particularly gentle voice.

“Baby, it’s Daddy.”

He paused, then said, "Kick it again, so Dad knows you heard it."

My stomach moved again.

Lu Jingyan laughed, and tears streamed down his face again.

“He heard it, he really heard it.”

Su Wantang looked at him, her heart melting completely.

She reached out and touched his hair.

“Jingyan, if you cry like this, the children will laugh at you.”

Lu Jingyan raised his head, his eyes still red.

"No, he won't laugh at me."

He wiped his face and took a deep breath.

"Wantang, I swear."

His voice was particularly solemn.

"I, Lu Jingyan, swear that I will protect you and your daughter with my life."

Su Wantang's tears fell again.

She nodded, her voice choked with emotion.

"I know."

Lu Jingyan pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head.

"I'm here."

Su Wantang leaned against him and closed her eyes.

The baby in my belly moved again, this time with great force.

She smiled and reached out to hold Lu Jingyan's hand.

"Jingyan, he kicked you again."

Lu Jingyan looked down at his wife's belly, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"Kick it, kick it hard, Daddy's not afraid of pain."

As the sun sets, the light in the courtyard becomes softer.

The two of them leaned against each other without saying a word.

The baby in his belly would move every now and then, and every time it did, Lu Jingyan would smile.

He had never been so happy in his life.
