When Qin Zheng dragged the body out of the room, a long trail of blood was left on the floor.
Lu Jingyan stood at the door, his face ashen.
"Clean things up, and don't tell anyone about tonight's events."
Qin Zheng nodded, called over a few people, put the body into sacks, and transported it out of the yard overnight.
Wang Ma wiped the bloodstains three times with hot water, restoring the floor to its original state, but a faint smell of blood still lingered in the air.
Lu Jingyan walked to the window, looking at the people busy in the yard, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.
Su Wantang came up from downstairs with a cup of hot milk in her hand.
"Jingyan, have something to drink."
Lu Jingyan turned around and saw that she was still sweating on her face, so he immediately went over to her.
"You should rest now."
Without saying a word, he picked her up and carried her straight to the master bedroom.
Su Wantang struggled a couple of times.

As he spoke, he took a blanket from the cabinet and covered her with it.

"You're tired too."

"I'm fine."
He stood up, walked to the window, and drew the curtains tightly shut.

Su Wantang leaned against the pillow with her eyes closed.
