Chapter 401 Night Raid on the Tiger's Den, Self-Destruction Countdown

Chapter 401 Night Raid on the Tiger's Den, Self-Destruction Countdown

Lu Jingyan reported the coordinates directly to the General Staff.

Half an hour later, a top-secret urban construction map was placed in front of him.

The blueprints were yellowed and the edges were worn through. They were stamped with a red seal that read "National Defense Project, 1953".

Lu Jingyan unfolded the blueprints and drew a circle at the coordinate position with his finger.

"The civil defense subway project has been abandoned for more than 20 years."

Su Wantang stood beside him, looking down at the dense lines.

Where is the entrance?

Lu Jingyan moved his finger to the upper right corner of the drawing.

“West Suburbs Coal Yard, Abandoned Mine Shaft No. 3”.

Qin Zheng came in from outside the door, his face covered in sweat.

"Young Miss, Brigade Commander, the troops have been assembled."

Lu Jingyan looked up. "Fully equipped?"

"All prepared," Qin Zheng said. "Gas masks, lighting equipment, explosives tools, first aid kits, everything is ready."

Su Wantang stood up from the chair, turned around and walked out.

Lu Jingyan grabbed her wrist.

"where did you go?"

"Together with you."

Lu Jingyan's brows furrowed tightly. "No."

Su Wantang shook off his hand.

“Jingyan, I know more about the things at Eagle’s Nest than you do.”

"That place is definitely full of traps and poison; you don't know how to deal with it."

Lu Jingyan stared at her without saying a word for a long time.

Su Wantang added, "Besides, only I can understand what Jingyue said."

Lu Jingyan took a deep breath, turned around and took out a black bulletproof vest from the cabinet.

"Put them on."

The bulletproof vest was very heavy, and Su Wantang was completely covered up when she put it on.

Lu Jingyan personally buttoned her clothes, making sure each button was fastened tightly.

"After you go down, you must follow behind me."

"good."

"Don't run around."

"good."

“Listen to me when things are dangerous.”

Su Wantang raised her head and looked at his taut jawline.

"Lu Jingyan, have you forgotten that I've also trained?"

Lu Jingyan ignored her and turned to pick up the walkie-talkie on the table.

"Everyone, let's go!"

The jeep sped through the night.

The convoy consisted of five vehicles, all of them military jeeps.

The car contained twelve members of the Thunder Shield team, each fully armed.

Qin Zheng sat in the passenger seat, holding a map in his hand.

"Commander, the coal yard is still a ten-minute drive away."

Lu Jingyan lit a cigarette but didn't say anything.

Su Wantang sat down beside him, her fingers tapping lightly on her knees.

Jingyue's words kept replaying in her mind.

"Hatching facility... 116°E, 40°N..."

"They're creating monsters..."

"Many...many monsters..."

The car was parked at the entrance of the coal yard.

The rusty door was half-open, and the wind blew through it, making a grating creaking sound.

Lu Jingyan pushed open the car door and jumped out first.

Su Wantang got out of the car, and Qin Zheng immediately handed her a flashlight.

"Miss, this is for you."

Su Wantang took the flashlight and turned it on.

The beam of light cut through the darkness and shone on the abandoned mine shaft.

The mine entrance is very narrow, allowing only one person to pass at a time.

Lu Jingyan walked at the front, holding a gun in his hand.

Su Wantang followed behind him, while Qin Zheng and Lei Dun's men brought up the rear.

It was very cold inside the mine, more than ten degrees Celsius lower than outside.

The walls were covered in water stains, and the water underfoot was above the shoes.

After walking for about twenty minutes, a rusty iron gate appeared ahead.

Lu Jingyan stopped and shone his flashlight on the door lock.

"Qin Zheng".

Qin Zheng immediately stepped forward and took out a lock-picking tool from his waist.

With a click, the lock opened.

As the iron gate was pushed open, a pungent smell wafted out.

Su Wantang immediately covered her mouth and nose.

Formalin.

Lu Jingyan turned his head and looked at her. "Are you alright?"

Su Wantang shook her head. "Let's go."

Behind the iron gate was a long tunnel.

Rows of iron racks were placed on both sides of the tunnel, with glass jars on them.

The jar was soaking all sorts of things.

Su Wantang walked closer to take a look, and the flashlight beam shone on the jar.

Her pupils suddenly contracted.

What's soaking in the jar is a person.

To be precise, they are human remains.

Arms, legs, head—all were cut into specimens.

Each jar has a label with a number and a date.

"Experimental subject No. 07, left arm, March 1975."

"Experimental subject No. 12, right leg, August 1976."

"Experimental Subject No. 31, head, November 1978."

Su Wantang's stomach was churning, but she forced herself to stay upright and continued walking.

There were a lot of bones scattered on the ground.

The bones are twisted and deformed, making it impossible to recognize their original shape.

Lu Jingyan crouched down and shone the flashlight on it.

"These bones have been artificially modified."

Su Wantang walked to his side and looked down at the pile of bones.

"The Eagle's Nest is conducting human experiments."

Lu Jingyan stood up, his face ashen.

"These beasts."

The procession continued forward.

The tunnel grew wider and the ceiling grew higher.

At the end, a huge metal door appeared in front of you.

There was no handle on the door, only a combination lock.

Su Wantang walked to the door and shone her flashlight on the combination lock.

"A six-digit password."

Qin Zheng took a small explosive device out of his backpack.

"Brigadier, should we blow it up?"

"Detonation will trigger an alarm."

Su Wantang stared at the combination lock, her mind racing.

"The coordinates Jingyue mentioned... 116°E, 40°N..."

She reached out and pressed six numbers on the combination lock.

"1, 1, 6, 4, 0, 0".

With a snap.

The door opened.

Lu Jingyan looked at her, a look of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Su Wantang pushed open the door and went inside.

Behind the door was a huge underground space.

There were more than a dozen giant glass jars in the space, each more than two meters tall.

The jar was filled with all sorts of deformed creatures.

Some have three legs, some have two heads, and some are covered in scales.

Su Wantang walked up to one of the jars and shone her flashlight on the glass.

A humanoid creature was floating in the jar.

This thing is over two meters tall, with abnormally developed muscles, grayish-white skin, and deep-set eyes.

The most terrifying thing was that its chest cavity was cut open, revealing a metal skeleton inside.

Su Wantang gasped.

"Mechanical modification..."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a piercing alarm suddenly sounded.

Red warning lights flashed in the space.

Lu Jingyan immediately raised his gun and looked around warily.

"Everyone, on high alert!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the wall on the left suddenly opened.

A huge figure rushed out from the hidden door.

The man was over two meters tall, with bulging muscles all over his body, and was holding a Gatling gun in his hand.

He didn't say anything, and pulled the trigger directly.

"Da da da da—"

Bullets poured out, hitting the wall and sending sparks flying.

The members of Thunder Shield immediately scattered and sought cover.

Lu Jingyan grabbed Su Wantang and shielded her behind him.

"Get down!"

Su Wantang lay on the ground, her flashlight lying to the side, rolling far away.

Lu Jingyan half-squatted in front of her, raised his gun, and fired three shots at the giant man.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

All three bullets hit their targets.

But the giant only swayed slightly, without taking a single step back.

He glanced down at the bullet hole in his chest, a strange smile spreading across his face.

Lu Jingyan's expression changed.

"His skin is bulletproof..."

The giant pulled the trigger again, unleashing even more firepower.

Lu Jingyan rolled to the side with Su Wantang in his arms, hiding behind a glass jar.

The bullet hit the glass, causing it to crack and the liquid inside to spill onto the floor.

Su Wantang took out a few small black balls from her bosom.

"Jingyan, cover me."

Lu Jingyan glanced at her.

What do you want to do?

"Blow up his gun."

Lu Jingyan didn't ask any more questions. He stood up and fired at the giant man.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Su Wantang rushed out from behind the cover and threw three small balls at the giant man.

The ball traced an arc in the air and landed precisely on the barrel of the gun in the giant's hand.

"Sizzle sizzle sizzle—"

The corrosive acid bomb exploded, sending thick smoke billowing out.

The gun barrel was corroded with several large holes, and the giant's hands were also burned.

He roared, threw down his gun, and charged straight at Su Wantang.

Lu Jingyan's expression changed drastically.

"Wantang!"

He rushed forward and blocked Su Wantang's path.

The giant threw a punch, but Lu Jingyan dodged it and retaliated with an elbow strike to the giant's face.

The giant's head tilted slightly, but he did not fall down.

He turned his head, his eyes bloodshot.

Lu Jingyan punched him again, this time in the temple.

The giant swayed and finally took two steps back.

Lu Jingyan seized the opportunity to step forward, grabbed his head with both hands, and twisted it forcefully.

"Crack—"

The giant's neck was snapped, and his body collapsed to the ground.

Lu Jingyan released his grip, panting heavily.

Su Wantang walked to the giant man's side and squatted down to examine him.

She tore open the giant's clothes, revealing the skin underneath.

Beneath the skin, a metal skeleton can be faintly seen.

"Mechanical exoskeleton..."

Su Wantang's voice trembled slightly.

"Eagle's Nest has already mastered this technology."

Lu Jingyan walked to her side and looked at the corpse.

"This is the executioner?"

"It should be."

Qin Zheng emerged from behind the cover, his face grim.

"Young Miss, if this thing were mass-produced..."

Su Wantang stood up without saying a word.

She turned around and walked to a corner of the space.

There was an old computer there, its screen still lit up.

Su Wantang walked closer and saw that data was scrolling on the screen.

"Data transmission in progress... 98%... 99%..."

Her expression changed.

"Jingyan!"

Lu Jingyan rushed over immediately.

"What's wrong?"

Su Wantang pointed at the screen.

"They are transmitting data."

The progress bar on the screen has reached 100%.

The next second, a line of red text popped up.

"Data uploaded, self-destruct program initiated."
