Chapter 47

◎The secret in his house was discovered◎

Three years ago, we first met in Thailand. He Qingzhao was wearing a white suit and stood gracefully under the Bodhi tree to worship Buddha. Sunlight shone through the gaps in the leaves and gilded him with a golden glow, as if a god had descended to earth.

That day, Cheng Jiaming squeezed through the noisy crowd to see him, and her heart fluttered at first sight. But she never thought she would be with him, because she knew very well that someone like He Qingzhao was not someone she could even dream of.

But now she has become He Qingzhao's girlfriend, and even moved into his house to live with him. Something she never dared to dream of has actually become a reality.

"He Qingzhao." She looked up at him, her clear, bright eyes sparkling like stars, her affection for him undisguised.

He Qingzhao was irresistibly drawn to her tender gaze, her heart softening completely.

"Momo." He called her tenderly, cupping her head in his large hand and pressing her face against his chest. "My sweet baby, don't look at me like that."

Cheng Jiamo was overjoyed by his teasing. She rubbed her face against his chest and asked in a sweet voice, "Why can't I look at you?"

He Qingzhao pressed his tongue against his cheek and chuckled in a low voice, "You can look, but you can't look with eyes full of tenderness."

Cheng Jiamo's face flushed, and the hand gripping his waist tightened involuntarily.

He Qingzhao lowered his head and kissed her forehead, then whispered in her ear, "I'm afraid I'll get addicted."

Cheng Jiamo felt drunk, her whole body was dizzy.

She lifted her head from He Qingzhao's embrace, looking at him tenderly at the snow-covered, retro courtyard. She felt as if she were dreaming, as if it were unreal.

"He Qingzhao. Am I dreaming?" She blinked, her clear, bright eyes filled with a hint of confusion.

"Hmm?" He Qingzhao raised an eyebrow, a playful smile in his eyes. "Why would you say that?"

Cheng Jiamo hugged his waist tightly: "I always feel like this is a dream, a dream I had because I missed you so much. After I woke up, you didn't remember me at all."

He Qingzhao gripped the back of her neck with his large hand, lowered his head and bit her lip, asking in a deep voice, "Does it hurt?"

Cheng Jiamo was bitten and felt pain. She raised her hand to hit him, glaring at him with her watery eyes, looking both coquettish and angry.

He Qingzhao smiled slightly, gently stroking her lips with his thumb: "Are you awake?"

Cheng Jiamo blushed and turned her head away, saying in a sweet voice, "I'm not awake, I'm just dreaming."

He Qingzhao put one arm around her waist and lifted her up in his arms, while holding her pink suitcase in the other hand. He kissed her lips and said in a low, husky voice, "Then let's do it together."

As soon as she entered the house, Cheng Jiamo was pinned down on the sofa by He Qingzhao.

He Qingzhao kissed her impatiently, his long, slender hands gripping her waist tightly. His sharp phoenix eyes appeared even more profound and fierce at this moment, their gaze unfathomable, like that of a starving beast, filled with burning, greedy desire.

Cheng Jiamo was frightened by He Qingzhao's gaze, her heart pounding and her breathing becoming rapid.

"He...He Qingzhao." She placed her hands on his shoulders, trying to push him away.

He Qingzhao grasped her hand and placed it on the top of her head, then leaned down to kiss her lips, a fierce and intense kiss.

Cheng Jiamo felt that He Qingzhao wasn't kissing her, but rather wanted to devour her. This side of He Qingzhao terrified her.

She turned her head away, sobbing, her eyes reddening and glistening with tears, looking soft and delicate.

However, she didn't know that this only made He Qingzhao want to be even more ruthless, to hurt her badly, and to make her cry.

He Qingzhao cupped her face in one hand and kissed her lips, cheeks, and brow, his kisses deep and restrained.

Cheng Jiamo's body went limp from his kisses, and an unbearable surge of passion coursed through her.

He Qingzhao tilted his head and kissed her ear, sucking and licking her soft, white earlobe.

"Mmm..." Cheng Jiamo groaned uncontrollably, raised her hand to hug his head, and tried to push him away, but involuntarily pressed his head against her neck, tilting her head up and rubbing her neck against his.

He Qingzhao was panting heavily, and he restrained himself from biting her neck: "Baby, please let me have you, okay?"

Before Cheng Jiamo could respond, He Qingzhao grabbed her waist and flipped her over, making her hold onto the sofa armrest.

Cheng Jiamo bit her hand and cried, but later she couldn't even bite her hand anymore and could only cry softly.

She clung to the sofa armrest, trying to sneak away, but as soon as she moved, He Qingzhao grabbed her waist and forcefully dragged her back.

A throw pillow in the corner of the sofa was about to fall. Cheng Jiamo reached out to grab it, but her hand jerked violently halfway through, and the pillow finally fell to the ground.

He Qingzhao hugged her tightly, breathing heavily against her face.

Cheng Jiamo pushed him, saying, "You, you should get out right now."

He Qingzhao kissed her sweaty temples: "Baby, let me rest for a while."

However, another hour passed in just a short while.

After two sessions, Cheng Jiamo felt as if her muscles had been pulled out; her whole body ached and she could only lie down.

"Get up and drink some water." He Qingzhao sat down on the edge of the bed with a water glass in his hand.

Cheng Jiamo turned her face away: "I'm too weak to get up."

He Qingzhao chuckled softly, picked her up from the bed, and held her in his arms while feeding her.

After drinking half a glass of water, Cheng Jiamo pursed her moist lips, took his hand, and played with his slender fingers.

He Qingzhao let her hold his hand and squeeze it, then asked with a smile, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Cheng Jiamo pulled his hand to her face: "I want to eat..."

However, before she could finish speaking, a dog suddenly barked outside the bedroom door.

Cheng Jiamo asked in surprise, "Your dog?"

He Qingzhao smiled faintly and said, "Mm." Then he whistled and called out, "Come in, baby."

Cheng Jiamo: "..."

The door was pushed open, and a golden Pekingese dog walked in.

The Pekingese wagged its tail and walked to the bedside, rubbing against He Qingzhao's leg.

He Qingzhao gently patted the dog's head and asked with a smile, "Did you miss me, baby?"

Cheng Jiamo: "..."

He Qingzhao turned to look at Cheng Jiamo, patted her head with the hand that had been stroking the dog's head, and asked her with the same smile, "What are you daydreaming about?"

Cheng Jiamo pointed to the yellow Pekingese: "Doesn't it have a name?"

He Qingzhao: "No, why don't you name it?"

He was still smiling when he said this, but Cheng Jiamo felt that his smile was cold.

Cheng Jiamo shook her head: "I've never owned a dog, so I don't know how to name one."

After saying that, she asked again, "Why don't you give it a name? If it doesn't have a name, what do you usually call it?"

He Qingzhao raised his hand to stroke her face, looking at her with deep affection: "Didn't you hear me when I called it, baby?"

Cheng Jiamo heard it, and it was precisely because she heard He Qingzhao call it "baby" that she asked such a question.

He Qingzhao stood up and walked out, with his golden Pekingese dog following behind him.

After the man and dog left the bedroom, He Qingzhao said in a low voice, "Baby, you can't come here again."

When Cheng Jiamo heard his deep, gentle "baby," her heart clenched painfully.

At that moment, she felt like she had returned to reality, no longer a dream that was so perfect it was almost unreal.

He Qingzhao pushed the door open again and entered the room. Seeing Cheng Jiamo's calm expression, he smiled and asked, "You're not angry, are you?"

Cheng Jiamo forced down the bitterness in her throat and replied with a smile, "No, why would I be angry for no reason?"

He Qingzhao braced himself on the edge of the bed and leaned down to look at her: "You don't mind?"

Cheng Jiamo pretended not to understand and replied innocently, "What do you mind?"

He Qingzhao smiled and patted her head: "It's good that you don't mind. It's just a dog."

Cheng Jiamo felt terrible, but she pretended to be indifferent: "Don't even mention dogs, I wouldn't mind if it were a person."

He Qingzhao's smile deepened: "Momo is so generous."

Cheng Jiaming lowered her eyes and remained silent. It wasn't that she was magnanimous; it was that she couldn't argue, nor did she have the right to. Her relationship with He Qingzhao had never been hers to control; the initiative had always been in He Qingzhao's hands. If He Qingzhao wanted to be with her, she couldn't refuse; if He Qingzhao didn't want to be with her, she couldn't keep him.

That night, He Qingzhao was ruthless like never before, as if he wanted to make up for everything he had missed during his more than half a month of business trip.

The next day, He Qingzhao got up at six o'clock as usual, exercised for an hour, washed up and ate breakfast, and then went to work at the company.

Cheng Jiamo didn't wake up until noon. After lunch, she took another nap and woke up around 3 p.m. He Qingzhao hadn't gotten off work yet.

With nothing to do after waking up, Cheng Jiamo sat by the window watching the snow. As she watched, she suddenly had the urge to build a snowman.

Without hesitation, she put on a thick coat, ran out happily, and grabbed some snow from the ground to knead it.

She was squatting down making snowballs when she suddenly heard a dog barking. She turned around and saw the golden Pekingese.

She stood up, smiling, and waved to the Pekingese: "Ah Huang, come here."

Hmph, she doesn't want to be called a dog baby, she insists on being called Ah Huang.

Ah Huang, Ah Huang.

The golden Pekingese turned and walked away, entering another room.

Cheng Jiamo followed, and after entering the house, she was completely stunned.

This is practically a pet store! Besides dogs, there are cats and parrots inside, as well as a huge fish tank filled with goldfish of various colors, including red, yellow, white, and black.

There are three or four cats: two orange tabby, one Ragdoll, and one silver shaded.

There is only one parrot, a green parrot, kept in a cage.

Cheng Jiamo walked to the fish tank, raised her hand and tapped the glass tank. The fish inside were startled and immediately swam around.

Cheng Jiamo, having successfully pulled off her prank, laughed happily and turned to tease the cat again.

The orange cat turned and ran away after she approached, going into another room.

Cheng Jiamo followed them inside, and upon seeing the photos on the wall, the smile on her face vanished instantly, and she froze at the doorway.

A moment later, she slowly walked to the photo wall.

There were many photos of cats and dogs on the wall, and each photo was labeled with a number.

A photo of an orange cat is labeled 05, and a photo of a Pekingese dog is labeled 06.

The photo of the bubble-eyed goldfish is labeled 07. Behind the goldfish photo are many similar photos labeled 071, 072, 073, 074, 075, etc.

The goldfish photo is pasted with a picture of an Amazon parrot, labeled: 09.

A picture of a grass turtle is labeled: 10.

Next to the photo of the turtle was a picture of Cheng Jiamo when she was in high school in Thailand. She was only sixteen years old that year, with thick bangs and wearing a green dress in the style of Southeast Asia. The number 24 was marked next to the photo.

Next to her high school photo is her current photo. Judging from her clothes, it must have been taken by He Qingzhao secretly not long after they started dating. The photo is marked with the number 27.

Cheng Jiamo was filled with questions. Why did He Qingzhao put up so many animal photos on the wall, and why did he put her photo among them? Did he have some kind of special fetish?

She's feeling very panicked; her heart is beating very fast.

Not daring to linger any longer, Cheng Jiamo ran out in a panic.

She was so focused on running that she didn't notice that He Qingzhao's car had already parked in the garage.

Cheng Jiamo returned to the place where she had built the snowman, squatted down and continued to make snowballs. Her nose stung with tears, which fell onto the snow and froze instantly.

“Baby, come here.” He Qingzhao’s voice suddenly sounded from behind.

Cheng Jiamo froze, hastily wiped her face, and slowly turned around, only to see He Qingzhao with his back to her, teasing the orange cat in the corridor.

The orange cat lay arrogantly on the bench, and He Qingzhao smiled gently, "My baby is getting more and more naughty."

The snowball Cheng Jiamo was holding melted into water, and the icy water flowed through her fingers and into her sleeves, but she seemed not to notice, her gaze fixed on He Qingzhao.

He Qingzhao walked over, bent down and picked up the orange cat, affectionately scratching its chin, and said in a doting tone, "Do you know why I brought you here?"

The orange cat couldn't reply, and he seemed to need no response, still smiling as he said, "It's not that you're so great, it's just that you happen to look a lot like it. You, and that silly dog and silly bird, you're all just substitutes."

Cheng Jiamo felt her blood freeze instantly, and only one thought filled her mind: a substitute.

He called her "baby," and he called all the cats, dogs, and parrots "baby" in the same tone he used when calling her.

He said these cats and dogs are just substitutes, so what about her? Is she a substitute too?
