Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Inside the cramped space, a young woman was tinkering with flower arrangements. Looking around, the room wasn't very large, and the decor was simple, but it was filled with a variety of potted plants and flowers. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the windows, creating a warm and peaceful atmosphere.

Zhang Yunniang frowned slightly, thinking that last month's salary had not been paid yet. Should she go to ask Manager Yao or wait a little longer? This situation had never happened before.

"Although I don't have much to spend money on right now, why shouldn't I accept the money I worked so hard for? No, I still have to go and ask."

Zhang Yunniang looked at the bamboo tube she had just fiddled with. There were a few holes drilled on it, and vines were wrapped around it. It was decorated with two white camellia flowers and a few branches. It looked simple and quite artistic.

He clapped his hands in satisfaction. It seemed that his flower arranging skills had improved a bit.

She lived in a secluded side room of Wencuiju. Because there was an aisle next to the house, perhaps to protect privacy, the wall of the house extended forward a little.

Her house was separated into two parts, like a small courtyard.

Outside the house is an open space, which is not particularly large, but not small either. The ground is filled with various flowers and plants that she grows.

The sun was shining brightly outside, and it was a bit hot. Zhang Yunniang decided to go and come back quickly, as she really didn't want to leave her residence.

In a wealthy family, only those who keep to themselves can live longer. She is living a very decent life now and she is very sensible.

She came to the place where Manager Yao usually stayed, but she didn't see anyone there. Thinking that Manager Yao usually waited outside the Second Young Master's room to listen to his orders when he had nothing to do, she wondered if he was there.

Since she was already outside, she might as well try her luck there. She had to take care of the flowers and trees in the yard every day, and she was very familiar with the paths in the yard.

I didn't meet anyone along the way, which made me feel a little strange, but I didn't think much about it.

Looking from afar, two maids were sitting on the stairs in front of the second young master's room, but Manager Yao was not there.

Maybe she really has something to do, so she should go back first. She won’t wait for the rice to be cooked. She’ll ask her next time.

Just as he was about to leave, a weak voice came from the second young master's room, calling someone in.

Two maids were sitting on the steps. When they heard the order, they looked at each other, turned their heads away, stood up as if ready to die, and then sat down again in despair.

The two did not obey the order to go in, but instead sat there and started chatting. The front of the house was empty, and although the two spoke quietly, Zhang Yunniang still heard them.

She was a person who didn't like to meddle in other people's business, but for some reason, she looked up and saw that there was no one around, so she didn't take a step forward.

"I'm dying, I'm dying. When will this end?"

"I can't stand it anymore. It stinks. The room smells like everything. I don't want to do this job for a whole day."

"I don't want to do this anymore. It smells like shit, urine, foul smells, fishy smells, everything. It's so disgusting that I want to vomit."

From the room came the sound of things being pushed over, and voices urging for water. The hoarse urging seemed to have completely aroused the anger of the two maids.

"You're yelling, yelling, why are you yelling? Don't you know you should drink less water and pee less?" The maidservant couldn't stand it anymore. Her patience had reached its limit. She shouted back, and the disgust in her tone was not concealed at all.

"You're still expecting us to clean up after you've made love to us? We're still unmarried young ladies, are we worthy of you cleaning up after us? If our reputation is ruined, how can we get married in the future?"

"If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being incompetent. You've fallen into this situation where you don't even have a servant. You expect us to wipe your shit and piss for you, but you're dreaming."

"We serve people, but we don't serve everyone."

The people in the room heard the noise outside and seemed to be out of breath, coughing constantly and gasping for breath.

"No, no, even if I spend all the money I saved, I still have to find someone to help me find a new job."

"Let's go, let's go. I can't stay here any longer. I'm quitting."

The two maids ran away from the other side door as if they were escaping, and did not see Zhang Yunniang hiding behind the side door porch pillar.

Zhang Yunniang stood there, frowning. If she were around, she would have run away without hesitation, not wanting to cause any possible trouble.

As the noise in the room gradually died down, a rare look of confusion appeared on his face. He looked around and saw no servants.

After a slight inner struggle, Zhang Yunniang stamped her feet. Her job was to take care of flowers and plants, and other things had nothing to do with her. She turned around and walked quickly towards her residence.

In the two years since she came into this world, she has always been law-abiding, doing her part, and living a free and easy life. She prefers a quiet lifestyle and doesn't like to socialize. Furthermore, her work rarely involves interacting with others. Apart from getting up early to tend to the flowers and plants, she has complete freedom to do as she pleases.

In her spare time, she either stayed in her own residence, thinking about flower arranging and growing flowers, entertaining herself and enjoying this leisure time that belonged to her alone, or she went out and found a job as a helper in a flower garden to earn some extra money.

Her original name was Du Ruoyi. She was a nurse in the intensive care unit. She worked hard every day and had severe lack of rest. In addition, she had an irregular diet and a bad work and rest schedule. Later, she became a critically ill patient and lost her life.

She never expected that she would wake up in another world.

When she woke up, she was lying on the ground with a fallen cabinet beside her and blood still gushing from her head.

There was no one around and no one came after he called out twice. He struggled to get up, bandaged the wound on his head, climbed back into bed, and fainted again.

He was unconscious for three days without anyone noticing. In this hazy state, some of the original owner's memories gradually became clearer.

But this memory was too simplistic. The original owner was a beggar on the street, brought back by the second son of the Anle Palace, who originally intended her to be a servant, so that she could at least have something to eat. After learning that she knew how to grow flowers, he put her in charge of tending the flowers and plants in the courtyard.

The original owner was afraid of people, which is called extreme social anxiety in modern terms.

Every day, the original owner would wake up early in the morning to tend to the flowers and plants in the yard outside, returning to her own residence at noon. She would spend the rest of the day in her own residence, studying various flowers and plants, and transplanting the good ones she cultivated into the flower beds outside.

The only time he interacted with people in the mansion was during meal times. After getting his meal, he would return to his own courtyard. There were not many people he got close to, so it was almost like he was living in seclusion.

After Du Ruoyi took over this body, she found that she liked the original owner's lifestyle very much. She didn't like socializing with people, and she liked to tend to flowers and plants. Isn't this a coincidence?

I was born to work like a slave, so why not work like that anywhere? What's more, the benefits here are so good. I get paid to slack off every day, and I get paid for food and accommodation. It's really great.

Du Ruoyi, oh no, Zhang Yunniang immediately decided that in the future she would aspire to treat this flower-growing business as a job for retirement. This could be said to be a good job given by God.

My memory came back, and I thought about the fact that last month’s salary had not been paid yet, and the scene I just saw. It seems that this retirement plan is about to end?

Her hurried steps stopped and she finally turned back. She slapped herself, but still couldn't bear to go and take a look.

When she opened the door, a strong stench came out of the room. Various smells mixed together and were very heady. Although she used to be a nurse in the intensive care unit and had seen all kinds of dirty work, that was two years ago.

Two years of "pampered" life made her suddenly feel a little uncomfortable.

There was a person lying on the floor of the room. The stool was overturned and the table was pushed aside. It looked like he wanted to climb onto the stool to get the kettle on the table, but he didn't have the strength, so he overturned the stool and pushed the table away.

The door was opened, and the person on the ground raised his head slightly. His hair was disheveled and his face was so dirty that his original appearance could no longer be seen.

Zhang Yunniang stood in the distance, motionless for a moment. A memory of the original owner flooded back into her mind.

A female beggar picked up half a steamed bun. Before she could take a bite, two male beggars came to snatch it away. The female beggar was defeated and was beaten by the two men. She lay unconscious on the ground for a long time.

When she regained consciousness, she struggled to get up. A passing young man in fine clothes stopped in front of her. Light shone down from behind her. The beggar, lying on the ground, raised her head and looked at the young man in fine clothes who looked like an immortal.

The scene changed, and Zhang Yunniang looked at the person lying in the middle of the room, struggling to raise his head, and walked over.

The bright light from outside shone into the room, and Jun Qingmo closed his eyes somewhat uncomfortably. The room was dimly lit, and he had already adapted to this dim environment. The sudden intrusion of the bright light made him panic, and the fear in his heart made him tremble violently.

"Close the door, close the door, close it." The man's voice was hoarse, and he started coughing rapidly while roaring, "Cough cough, close it, close it, don't open it, don't open it."

Zhang Yunniang closed the door of the room, and the person on the ground calmed down a little and stopped howling.

"Second? Second Young Master?" She still couldn't believe that the person in front of her was the owner of this courtyard.

"Water, water, give me water."

The windows were covered with black cloth, the doors and windows were shut, and the room was extremely dim. It took Zhang Yunniang a long time to adjust. She saw the kettle on the table and, without caring whether it was cold or not, poured a cup of water to quench the thirst of the person first.

Jun Qingmo stopped only after drinking three glasses of water in a row.

The person before him was disheveled, filthy, and emitting a foul odor. If he weren't in the mansion, others might have mistaken him for a beggar. Or even worse.

"Second Master, I, I will help you to the couch."

Zhang Yunniang noticed the man's body stiffen, and for a moment, she didn't care about anything else. This man was so thin and shapeless that even she could easily carry him to the bed.

With the dim light and the stench emanating from the bed, it was not difficult to notice the dirtiness on it.

After a moment's hesitation, she pulled the bed sheet down. No one had even cleaned it up for him. This was a complete waste.

In the original owner's memory, there is Jun Qingmo's original appearance. How could such a handsome and elegant young man be ruined into what he is now?

Jun Qingmo watched her movements, clenching his teeth and closing his eyes. Embarrassment enveloped him. The filth and mess on the bed disgusted him. He suppressed the trembling caused by embarrassment, and a drop of water fell from the corner of his eye.

Zhang Yunniang couldn't do anything at this time and could only help the person lie down.

"I remember you." The weak voice revealed an eerie calmness.

"What?"

"You go."

"Huh?" She went out to ask for her salary, so how come she's going to be fired now?

What happened? She was completely at home, she really didn't know anything.

"These servants are too presumptuous. I'll go find the manager." After saying this, he planned to run out to find someone.

She had been living a quiet life in her own nest, not caring about other things. Occasionally she heard some words but didn't take them to heart. She only knew that the Second Young Master had fallen out of favor, but even if he had fallen out of favor, he was still a young master of the palace, right?

Yes, a prince or lady who has fallen out of favor may be even worse than a servant, let alone a half-paralyzed man.

"No need. Except for you, everyone in my courtyard has probably left." The people in his courtyard were all arranged by the princess before. When he was successful, they naturally worked hard for him. After he fell into poverty, they had to find a way out again.

Jun Qingmo's voice was hoarse, his eyes were emotionless, and he calmly stated the current objective facts.

"Leaving?" Jun Qingmo is kind to others and a good master. There shouldn't be anyone willing to follow him, right?

"Even if you follow an unloved bastard, it's better than following a cripple like me. Now I can't protect myself, and I can't keep you here. Go and find a good place for yourself."

"Manager Yao has left too?" Zhang Yunniang opened her eyes wide, feeling a little unsure.

Hearing Yao Zhien's name, Jun Qingmo's calm voice was choked with suppressed sobs, and he only replied softly, "Yeah."

No wonder last month’s salary has not been paid until the end of this month. It seems that the person in charge has run away.

She was indeed a little out of touch with the information. She only cared about having food and drink, and didn't care too much about the monthly salary. She also thought that the monk could run away, but the temple could not.

Now the monk is still there, but the temple is gone.

"What are your plans for the future, sir?"
