Chapter 681. You're so long-winded!

As Zhu Qianying cooked, she watched Yan Shao playing with the two children outside. She felt very content. Knowing that her friend and his daughter would be back soon, the heavy weight on her heart finally felt much lighter.

Dinner was plentiful, and it consisted entirely of dishes that the two little ones and Yan Shao liked, filling the entire table.

After exercising with the two children, Yan Shao had an unusually good appetite, and the meat and vegetables on the table were almost all eaten up in no time.

The two little ones ate until their mouths were covered in oil, but Zhu Qianying never really cared. In her opinion, kids should eat like that to show they're enjoying their food.

But Yan Shao didn't see it that way. Or perhaps it was just his subconscious acting up. Seeing that Zizai and Bai Xiaolu's mouths and faces were greasy, he couldn't help but take a wet towel and wipe one's mouth and the other's face.

The two little kids had long been used to his fussiness, and as soon as he handed them a towel, they would stretch their necks and bring their faces close to cooperate with his cleaning.

"Uncle Yan, you can be quite long-winded at times!"

While munching on a crab claw, Bai Xiaolu chuckled and said to Young Master Yan, not knowing the word "fussy," she described Young Master Yan's constant attention to her and Zizai as being long-winded.

Yan Shao wasn't annoyed. He simply reached out his large hand and rubbed her forehead vigorously. "Isn't being long-winded good?"

Bai Xiaolu thought for a moment, then smiled and nodded, "It's fine. Uncle Yan is doing this for my and Zizai's own good, that's why he's being so long-winded."

Yan Shao sighed inwardly. If Zong Zhe were still alive, he would probably be overjoyed to see such a smart and understanding daughter.

"Bai Xiaolu, let me tell you, my daddy's not just nagging, he's fussy!"

Zizai was very focused on scooping out the crab roe with a spoon and eating it. Only after he finished eating all the crab roe did he have time to explain to Bai Xiaolu.

Zhu Qianying burst out laughing, because her son had heard her say that so often.

Young Master Yan glanced at her with interest, then patiently explained to his son, "Honey, whether Daddy is long-winded or fussy, it's all for your own good, isn't it?"

The little guy nodded readily, "Yes, that's right! Daddy really loves me and Bai Xiaolu."

After spending some time together, Zizai seemed to have gotten used to putting himself and Bai Xiaolu together. He had never even been jealous of his parents' kindness towards Bai Xiaolu.

On the contrary, I've always taken it for granted.

What he didn't know was that his parents' kindness towards Bai Xiaolu stemmed from different motives.

Zhu Qianying would dote on Bai Xiaolu, naturally because she is the child of her good friend Bai Shao.

Yan Shao dotes on Bai Xiaolu, partly because she is the child of Zhu Qianying's best friend, but most importantly because she is Zong Zhe's daughter.

Zizai had no idea that Bai Xiaolu, like him, was actually a child from a wealthy family.

What he has, Bai Xiaolu also has.

This sumptuous dinner took longer than usual. After finishing, the two mischievous kids, clearly stuffed, sprawled on the sofa in the living room, rubbing their stomachs and chatting.

The maid put the dishes and chopsticks away in the kitchen, while Zhu Qianying went to take a bath.

When she came out after washing her hair and taking a shower, the two mischievous kids were actually asleep on the sofa, head to head.

Meanwhile, Yan Shao was busy on a single sofa with his laptop in hand.

"How did you fall asleep?"

Zhu Qianying tiptoed over and took a thin blanket to cover the two children.

Yan Shao glanced at the two children who were sleeping soundly. "They're probably tired from playing. Swimming is very tiring, and I want to sleep now that I'm full."

Zhu Qianying glanced at him with a smile, "Then aren't you going to sleep?"

Yan Shao closed the computer and put it aside. He reached out and pulled Zhu Qianying over, letting her sit on his lap.

"I thought you weren't planning to sleep tonight."

Zhu Qianying didn't react for a moment, "Huh? Why?"

"I thought you would wait for Uncle Dong and Bai Shao to come back..." Yan Shao said in a low voice.

After he mentioned it, Zhu Qianying remembered that she had indeed originally planned to do so.

Yan Shao had told her that Bai Shao and her father might arrive around 2 or 3 a.m., so she was really planning to wait there.

Firstly, I can't let go of it.

Secondly, there was also the fear that the long journey would take a toll on Uncle Dong's health, and he would need someone to take care of him after returning.

"Yes, I do intend to wait for them to return here."

Yan Shao gently stroked her back. "Don't worry, I've already called Du Ting over. He'll bring some urgently needed medicine to stay with us in case Uncle Dong's condition relapses."

Zhu Qianying moved closer to him, put her hands on his neck, pulled his head down a little, turned her head, and kissed him on the lips.

"Thank you!"

Yan Shao opened his mouth and kissed her lips. "Silly girl, why are you being so polite with me?"

Zhu Qianying winced slightly but didn't say anything.

The two chatted quietly for a few more minutes, then Yan Shao picked up Zhu Qianying and moved her to the armrest of the sofa.

"You stay here for now, I'll carry them back to their room to sleep."

Fortunately, after swimming, Zhu Qianying insisted that they take a shower before eating, so she could just carry them back to the bedroom.

Yan Shao first carried Zizai back to the room, and soon after, he returned and carried Bai Xiaolu into the bedroom as well.

The two children's rooms are side by side, and usually, their actions are mostly synchronized.

For example, when you get up, if this door opens, within seconds the door next door will also open.

For example, when it comes to sleeping, the two of them usually go back to their room to sleep at the same time.

When Yan Shao came out of Bai Xiaolu's room, he saw Zhu Qianying staring blankly at the door of the two little ones' room, so he asked her.

"What's wrong?"

Zhu Qianying frowned slightly and sighed softly.

"I think Bai Xiaolu probably won't stay here for much longer!"

Yan Shao didn't say anything, but walked behind her and gently pulled her into his arms. Clearly, his thoughts were similar to Zhu Qianying's.

"Ying'er, this is something neither of us can control, so we can only let nature take its course, understand?"

Zhu Qianying naturally understood this matter, and it was precisely because she understood that she felt such regret and frustration.

Actually, for Zizai and Bai Xiaolu, if they hadn't spent so much time together during this period, their feelings probably wouldn't have gotten this deep.

But fate sometimes loves to play tricks. After giving the two children the opportunity to spend time together and develop a deep bond, it just had to separate them again.

"Young Master Yan, what do you think Xiao Shao will do?"

Zhu Qianying still held onto a sliver of hope, but she also understood that this hope was quite selfish.

In the long run, for Xiao Luzi, returning to the main family would naturally be better.

As for her friends, Zhu Qianying felt that whether they were outside or in the main family, they would not interfere with her life.

Because a good friend is not someone who can be easily swayed by others.

"Probably just like you think!"

Yan Shao admitted that he didn't understand Bai Shao, but from the moment she decided to accompany Bai Xiangdong abroad for treatment, she had already made her choice.
