Chapter 20 In Ji Qingyu's heart...

Chapter 20 In Ji Qingyu's heart...

Ji Qingyu was actually completely unmoved.

Fu Han has been like this since his senior year of high school, always with a beautiful woman by his side.

Ji Qingyu had nothing to say.

During their senior year of high school, the corner of the library was often occupied only by the two of them, along with some omegas who came specifically to see them. The upper class was clearly hierarchical, and the second-generation heirs also had a clear yardstick in their hearts—whoever could get close to the Fu family and become associated with Fu Han would see their family rise even higher in the future.

After being approached by omegas so many times, Ji Qingyu felt uncomfortable. He took the fairy tale book to the library and swiped his student card to borrow it.

Fu Han appeared behind him without him noticing, and bent down to pick up the storybook from the lending machine. It was almost an embrace, and Fu Han's tone was full of laughter.

"Why are you angry?"

"Why would I be angry?" Ji Qingyu ignored Fu Han, but took the book from his hand and tried to leave, but Fu Han grabbed her by the collar of her cardigan and pulled her back.

It was already autumn, and the leaves had turned yellow, swaying outside the school's transparent windows. Students played and frolicked in pairs. Fu Han placed a box of strawberry yogurt in Ji Qingyu's hand. Fu Han's tone was unusually gentle, like the warm sun on an autumn afternoon, easily able to make the lovestruck omega dizzy. "Alright, what do I have to do with them?"

So what is your relationship with me?

Ji Qingyu didn't say anything, but he didn't leave either. He and Fu Han spent the whole afternoon snuggled on the sofa. He read fairy tales and then scribbled songs at the table, his pen moving slowly and deliberately. Fu Han was looking at a contract, but there were too many words, and Ji Qingyu wasn't interested. That day, he and Fu Han were unusually close, their elbows occasionally touching, but Ji Qingyu didn't feel disturbed.

As evening approached, Fu Han received a phone call saying that he had to leave first because of some family matters. Ji Qingyu read a book by herself for a while, but found it boring, so she also left.

He walked slowly along the asphalt road off campus, wearing a short cashmere sweater over a shirt, with wired earphones in his ears. The white earphone cord swayed with his steps. He seemed lost in thought. The wind swept past him, and the air was filled with the smell of damp earth and grass.

On such an evening, it seemed there was nothing to worry about. He stepped on the golden leaves that covered the ground, making a crunching sound, but suddenly froze when he saw the scene in front of him.

A sports car was parked at the school gate, and a woman stood next to it. She looked pure and beautiful, but her temperament was exceptionally mature. Her dress made her look like a mermaid, and she was casually playing with her phone while carrying a Birkin bag.

Fu Han skillfully put his arm around the woman's slender waist, whispered a few words in her ear, and got into the car.

Ji Qingyu couldn't hear anything. The unrequited love song was playing in his headphones, but all he could think about was the ringing in his ears. Fu Han was a bird in the sky, and he was a weed by the roadside, but even if he had known all along, he would still be sad.

Ji Qingyu found it hard to describe his feelings back then, which were far more intense than they are now. He felt nothing now, not a bit of heartache or anguish, because he was no longer eighteen years old.

Ji Qingyu shook her head, rejecting Ji Ran's ill intentions, and said in a flat tone, "I won't join in this fun."

If you upset Fu Han, you'll be the one who suffers in the end.

Ji Ran raised an eyebrow, and the middle-aged bartender placed another glass of Metropolitan in front of him. The red liquid swayed, foam creating ripples, everything melting into the alcohol and dreams.

Ji Ran swirled his cup and suddenly changed the subject: "Although the omegas around him are all different, Fu Han is indeed amazing. He was only eighteen years old when he managed to take down his own uncle. Look, now his uncle has nothing left and can only beg the Fu family to remember their past kindness like a lapdog. It's all about the winner taking all, and the world is just that cruel."

Ji Ran tapped his wine glass, his eyes filled with a slight coldness, yet he still smiled and said, "Even if I were to marry someone like Fu Han, I wouldn't be confident I could hold onto him. Marriage is like a business; you have to be careful with your calculations to make a profit."

The bartender seemed oblivious to Ji Ran's sarcasm, letting out a low chuckle. Only then did Ji Qingyu realize that he was Fu Yunsheng, Fu Yunbai's younger brother, and Fu Han's uncle.

Six years ago, he almost took the Fu family business from Fu Yunbai, but in the end he was defeated by Fu Han. His carefully planned schemes failed, and all his trump cards were taken away. Fu Yunbai even made him mix drinks for them here in order to humiliate him.

Ji Qingyu felt a sense of sadness.

Their lives were full of ups and downs, like a roller coaster plunging to the bottom and then turning around. No one's life can be smooth sailing. There is always a piece that breaks when things seem perfect. Happiness is like foam; the more you try to grasp it, the more it will shatter.

But Fu Han is different; he always stays aloof and never admits defeat.

"Where is Fu Han?" Ji Qingyu heard her own voice asking. Ji Ran, who was looking at the sour lemon in his wine glass, laughed when he heard Ji Qingyu's words.

"What, have you changed your mind?"

"I just want to see it with my own eyes," Ji Qingyu said slowly, trying to reassure himself that he would just take one look and leave immediately.

Golden music flowed through the winery, and the damp chill seeped in from the rooftop, making Ji Qingyu feel a little cold. Ji Ran stood up and led Ji Qingyu upstairs.

Fu Yunbo and Ji Deyong were still discussing something, laughing heartily, their arms around each other. But as soon as their interests collapsed, today's allies could tear a piece of flesh from behind at any time.

The second floor consists of guest rooms, quiet and secluded, without even surveillance cameras. Private transactions between the powerful and wealthy often take place in these shady corners.

"At the end, the room on the left, here's the room key." Ji Ran's eyes crinkled into a smile. "Go for it, bro."

“Although you don’t believe me, I’ve always supported you. Don’t forget, without me and that omega back then, you wouldn’t be where you are today,” Ji Ran said slowly. “You haven’t forgotten her, have you?”

Ji Qingyu ignored Ji Ran. His phone was in his pocket; he could press a button to call for help. He also had a strong inhibitor with him, so there wouldn't be any problems.

Ji Ran leaned against the corridor wall, arms crossed, legs slightly bent. Ji Qingyu thought he had indeed drunk too much today, and he was swaying a little as he stepped on the carpet.

“Brother, before you go, let me give you a friendly reminder.” Ji Ran spoke quietly, “Do you remember the big gift I gave Fu Han? I thought it would have exploded long ago, but he hasn’t made a move for so long. Do you think he doesn’t care about you at all, or does he care about you too much?”

Ji Qingyu's brain was somewhat fuzzy from the alcohol. He ignored Ji Ran's words and kept walking forward. He didn't know when Ji Ran had left.

Ji Qingyu's heart was heavy. He went over and found that the door was not closed. Fu Han was leaning against the bed. There was indeed a male omega sitting on the floor, but the two of them did not do anything as he had imagined. The omega was just crying on the floor.

"Fu Han, I can do it, I'm willing to do anything. I can give up everything for you, have children for you. What's so good about that inferior thing? There's no love between you two, right?" The omega's voice was filled with obvious collapse and sobs, and her hand was tugged weakly at Fu Han's suit trouser leg.

“You seem to have misunderstood something,” Fu Han said, the cigarette in his hand burning recklessly. The pungent smell of nicotine made the omega cough involuntarily. His pretty little face was full of sorrow. Fu Han continued without any mercy, “What happens between him and me is none of your business.”

Omega's tears mingled with her exquisite makeup, yet she still stubbornly clung to Fu Han's clothes.

Ji Qingyu's fingers gripped the door panel tightly.

Omega stood up in despair, yelling, "You don't understand at all! I'm better than him in every way, why can't I? He's uglier than me, not as smart, and so what if he can write a couple of songs? I can too!! I have a better family background than him, I..."

"Are you done?" Before he could finish speaking, Fu Han's voice turned cold. "You are inferior to him in every way."

Fu Han's voice returned to its calm and even tone. He shifted his gaze from the omega without lingering for a moment, and once again disappeared into the darkness.

The omega was terrified. After a few years of stunned silence, he rushed out in a panic, only to bump into Ji Qingyu, who was still standing there in a daze. Ji Qingyu quickly waved her hand and explained somewhat awkwardly, "I didn't hear anything."

The omega was stunned for a moment, then covered his face and slammed his shoulder into Ji Qingyu's. He then ran away in a disheveled state.

Ji Qingyu stumbled from the impact, his shoulder aching, but he sighed inwardly as he watched the omega run away, feeling a sense of sorrow, like a rabbit mourning the death of a fox.

He felt that he would suffer the same fate in the future, it was just a matter of time. He rubbed his shoulders, thinking that since it was a misunderstanding, he could leave. Before he could take two steps, he was stopped by the person behind him.

"What are you doing here?" Fu Han pushed the door open from the inside. He was a little confused, but quickly regained his composure as if nothing had happened. Fu Han laughed, "Are you that worried about me?"

Before Ji Qingyu could say anything, Fu Han pulled the other person in.

"You've got the guts to catch us in the act," Fu Han said slowly, fiddling with Ji Qingyu's tie, his tone rising as if his mood had warmed up. "How much did you hear just now?"

"I just arrived, I didn't hear anything," Ji Qingyu said quietly.

Fu Han's hand lightly brushed across Ji Qingyu's Adam's apple, her beautiful neck, and then stroked a small mole on the edge of Ji Qingyu's collarbone.

Ji Qingyu's body began to tremble. Wherever Fu Han's finger landed, his senses were magnified exponentially.

Fu Han extinguished the cigarette, opened the window, and let in a cold wind. There were stars tonight, but no one had time to appreciate them.

"Have you ever counted the moles on your body?" Fu Han's voice carried a hint of teasing as his hand slid down Ji Qingyu's body, stopping at her waist. Due to working several jobs over the years, Ji Qingyu's waist was covered with a thin layer of muscle, both tough and supple.

"Who can count this..." Ji Qingyu muttered softly, but Fu Han's hand had already slipped under the hem of Ji Qingyu's clothes.

"There's a small mole on your waist, right where your lowest rib is." Fu Han's voice was unhurried, as if it were just a friendly reminder. He fumbled for the spot, pressed down hard with his finger, and Ji Qingyu let out a muffled groan. "It's right here."

“I’ve heard that the place where a mole appears is where a person was injured in their past life,” Fu Han said, increasing the pressure.

“Your brother saw me not long ago.” Fu Han’s brows furrowed slightly, and his hand slid down from the mole. Ji Qingyu’s knees went weak and she had to support herself on Fu Han’s arm to maintain her balance.

The night rain grew heavier and heavier, and Ji Qingyu crashed into Fu Han's arms, which were broad and warm, seemingly able to withstand any storm.

But the next second Fu Han sneered, probably because of the cold weather, Ji Qingyu's wrist hurt again.

In the dimly lit room, a broad hand stroked the body from the waist down, finally landing on the lower abdomen, the pressure suddenly increasing.

Ji Qingyu let out a muffled groan and began to tremble.

"He told me that you were pregnant before, and the child wasn't mine." The alpha's tone was gentle and calm, like a sincere murmur from a lover, his voice low and deep. "Ji Qingyu, this is the last time I'll ask you, are you hiding something from me?"

My ex-husband really liked me after the divorce.

Wen Xiuyan often felt that Fu Wenxin was a boring and dull piece of wood. Maybe all betas are like this: mediocre, ordinary, like plain water that has been sitting for too long, colorless, tasteless, and a little bitter, which made him lose all interest.

It was a business marriage, but they made do with each other. In the years after the marriage, apart from necessary exchanges and conversations, Wen Xiuyan hardly knew anything about Fu Wenxin.

However, life goes on. Wen Xiuyan thought that Fu Wenxin's body was much more comfortable than his own. She was obedient, did not disobey, and was sensible and compliant. Such a wife made him worry-free. Although she was a bit boring, he could tolerate it.

Originally, Wen Xiuyan was supposed to continue living with this insignificant person for the rest of his life, but one day, Fu Wenxin suddenly walked up to him and said that he had fallen in love with someone else and that he wanted a divorce.

*

Fu Wenxin had been in love with someone unattainable since high school, like a moth drawn to a flame. He came from a humble background, lived under someone else's roof, and was pushed out as a tool for a marriage alliance. So when he learned that his marriage partner was Wen Xiuyan, he was overjoyed.

The wildfire of unrequited love reignited, burning ever brighter and brighter. It burned for three years, five months, and three days, until finally he was reduced to ashes, leaving nothing behind.

Wen Xiuyan was completely unaware of Fu Wenxin's feelings for him, because unrequited love was a secret between Fu Wenxin and herself. Therefore, when the day came to an end for her unrequited love, Fu Wenxin could also put a period to this relationship in her heart on her own.

*

Later, Fu Wenxin found someone else in her life, an ordinary person with whom she could live a simple and peaceful life.

Wen Xiuyan, however, was consumed by jealousy as if he had gone mad.
