Chapter 21 "Fu Han, why..."

Chapter 21 "Fu Han, why..."

"Fu Han, why do you always like to listen to me sing?" It was a late afternoon in the senior year of high school. The grass was lush and green, the sunlight was dazzling, and the autumn grass had a unique fragrance.

The school uniform jacket fit perfectly. Ji Qingyu brought her guitar. They sat on the green grass behind the equipment room. There weren't many people around. Fu Han leaned casually against a tree, cross-legged and looking down at the storybook in his hand.

The sky was high and vast, and birds circled around a few times. Ji Qingyu squinted because the sun was so hot.

Fu Han ignored Ji Qingyu and simply turned another page of the storybook. He had been enjoying reading these kinds of boring things lately. The ice cubes swirled in the glass a few times, and Ji Qingyu bit the straw. Fu Han's lazy voice rang out: "The weather has gotten quite cold lately."

"Really?" Ji Qingyu continued drinking his iced beverage.

His hand was held, and his face was pinched. Fu Han lowered his gaze, the movements very gentle.

Ji Qingyu understood what he meant and silently placed Fu Han's hand in her own.

That hand was much larger than his, with a thin layer of calluses on the fingertips and the web of the thumb. His hand was indeed very cold, probably because it was autumn, yet he was still only wearing a single-layer shirt.

Fu Han's profile was very handsome when he lowered his head slightly, with sharp and distinct features. He was always good-looking. Fu Han did not move, letting Ji Qingyu do whatever she wanted with his hand. Ji Qingyu touched his finger bones one by one.

Then he suddenly leaned closer, propped himself up on the grass with one hand, stared at Ji Qingyu's flushed face, and laughed mockingly.

"Why do you always blush?" Fu Han asked with a smile, slowly observing Ji Qingyu's expression. A few seconds later, he lay back down on the grass, casually resting his hand on the back of his head.

The shade of the tree slanted down, casting a faint shadow on Fu Han's face. Ji Qingyu looked at the book in Fu Han's hand and realized it wasn't a proper book at all. It was exactly the same as the one that Ji Qingyu had been given before, and judging from the style, it might be from the same series.

"Ji Qingyu, if you give me a kiss, I might give you a chance."

Ji Qingyu had taken off her coat to cover Fu Han, but after hearing this, she threw it directly at Fu Han's face.

Fu Han caught it, his smile widening. He rested his chin on his hand, looking like a cunning wild animal: "Why is your temper always so bad?"

His shirt buttons were undone, revealing his tattoos and making Fu Han look extremely fierce. He swept his hair back, not wearing a bite guard, only revealing two sharp canine teeth.

He grasped Ji Qingyu's hand, their fingers intertwined, holding it tightly. He led Ji Qingyu's hand and touched a non-existent wound on his chest: "Look, it's all red from being beaten."

"Don't keep teasing me like this." Ji Qingyu tried to remain calm, the coolness of the drink she had just swallowed still lingering in her throat.

Ji Qingyu's fingers did indeed touch some lines. He looked down and saw a layer of knotted scars beneath the horrifying tattoo on his chest.

The area of the scar was large, like a burn, or something scalding hot was pressed on it. The skin was extensively damaged, leaving a light red patch that was covered by the tattoo and could not be seen clearly.

"How did this happen?" Ji Qingyu's fingertips trembled, her pupils contracted slightly, and her voice unconsciously became very soft.

Fu Han didn't answer. Ji Qingyu's hand became heavier, pressing on the lines. The scars were very close to his heart, and Fu Han's heartbeat was strong and powerful.

Then things took a turn. Fu Han pulled Ji Qingyu over and put his other arm around her waist.

"Fu Han, let go of me. I have class, I have to go." Ji Qingyu lowered her head to avoid Fu Han.

“Okay,” Fu Han seemed to want to say something, but in the end he didn’t say it. He ruffled Ji Qingyu’s hair a couple of times. “I won’t be going back to school for a while. There are a lot of things to do at home.”

"What are you talking to me about?" Ji Qingyu looked away from the other person, but her mind was still preoccupied with those scars.

"Wait for me to come back. I have something to tell you." Fu Han tidied Ji Qingyu's loose hair, picked up a hair tie, and tied it back into a small bun.

"You should go now, I'm leaving too." Ji Qingyu stood up and walked quickly.

"Hey, you don't want your drinks, school uniform, guitar, or anything else? I'll gladly accept them all?" Fu Han laughed out loud, his muffled voice making Ji Qingyu feel somewhat resigned. He didn't dare to turn around, but just walked forward quickly.

"You can keep it, I don't want it!"

The days of youth float on a golden hue, like water shrouded in mist, where the light falls and everything seems unreal.

Ji Qingyu blinked.

The room was dimly lit, and he felt somewhat dazed. His chest pounded violently, and the golden light and shadow disappeared.

A hand stroked the corner of his eye, lifted his chin, and held him still to prevent him from escaping: "What are you daydreaming about again? Answer the question."

Fu Han's words were like a bucket of cold water, pouring down on Ji Qingyu and instantly sobering her up. Everything felt like a distorted stage play; Ji Qingyu felt a sharp pain in her chest, and her vision blurred.

So that's why Fu Han has been in a bad mood these past few days. So that's what the "grand gift" Ji Ran mentioned that day was all about. Why would Fu Han believe such absurd words?

A cold wind blew across the rooftop, lifting the white gauze curtains. A chilling, negative emotion seeped out of his body, and he struggled to look at the other person.

Fu Han blocked Ji Qingyu's eyes and gripped the back of his neck. He lowered his head to kiss him, as if trying to steal all the oxygen from him, with unusual ferocity and ruthlessness.

Ji Qingyu struggled violently.

“Yes,” he seized the opportunity, shoved Fu Han away, gasped for breath, his eyes reddening, and squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth, “I have had a child.”

Fu Han swayed, remaining motionless in the darkness, his hands clenched into fists, his voice low and hoarse, as if interrogating a heinous criminal, "So, you were not only marked by someone, but you even had his child? And you dropped out of school because of that person?"

Fu Han sneered. Ji Qingyu's wrist was in a lot of pain. He thought it might not just be a sprain, but perhaps the bone was injured.

The stinging pain in my bones was insignificant; Fu Han's words were far more hurtful.

The sound of a muffled bell struck Ji Qingyu's heart, making him shudder. At the same time, he felt extremely ironic that someone as arrogant as Fu Han could be so utterly wrong.

Ji Qingyu's fingers curled slightly at his side. He paused for two seconds, and for some reason, he felt compelled to add fuel to the fire of this boiling pot of oil. "Yes, I love him. We were inseparable, we made vows of eternal love. If he hadn't abandoned me, do you think I would be with you?!"

"I... I have a low character. I've been this kind of person since high school. Didn't you know that a long time ago? Didn't you know that for many years?"

The banquet hall on the first floor was filled with the sounds of clinking glasses and soft music, creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy. One could even hear some laughter and playful banter.

Everything was like foam stained with shards of diamonds, distorted as if it were an illusion.

Fu Han's shadow was hidden in the dark shadows of the room, like a ghost that had lost its soul.

Ji Qingyu was exhausted. He thought, in the end, what difference was there between him and that omega who had just run away? To Fu Han, they were both just playing around, devoid of any real feelings.

A profound grief welled up within him, almost overwhelming him.

Ji Qingyu turned to leave, but Fu Han gripped his wrist tightly. In the darkness, Fu Han was completely unaware that Ji Qingyu's wrist was already swollen, and Ji Qingyu didn't want to remind him.

"So what time is it?" Fu Han insisted on getting to the bottom of it.

"What are you saying?" Ji Qingyu's forehead was covered in cold sweat from the pain. He didn't want to answer and turned his head slightly away.

Fu Han gripped Ji Qingyu's hand even tighter, pressing it against the wall and leaning down, roaring uncontrollably, "When did you have a child with that person?!"

Time, ah... what time is it?

Ji Qingyu went back to reminiscing.

He was at the lowest point in his life when he found out he was pregnant. Lin Ying was sick, Ji Ran threatened him, he couldn't finish his studies, his songs were stolen, his voice was ruined, and then he suddenly fainted while working, finding out he was pregnant without any warning.

What was he feeling at that time?

It was as if the sky had fallen; everything was gone, and then fate seemed determined to make matters worse.

He fell silent, his lips pressed tightly together, not wanting to say a single word, but Fu Han persisted, almost forcing him to come to a conclusion.

Fu Han gripped Ji Qingyu's hand with a fierce intensity, his eyes filled with intense and obvious anger, as if it were about to burst forth at any moment.

"Does it still matter, Fu Han? That child is gone." Cold sweat trickled down Ji Qingyu's forehead, and his lips turned pale with pain. His words were like a row of sharp thorns stuck in Fu Han's throat, causing him to lose his voice briefly.

“It’s important. I want you to tell me yourself.” Fu Han paused, then continued with an unyielding tone. He was the eternal superior, the master whose word was law. In his heart, what exactly was Ji Qingyu? Perhaps she was just an insignificant speck of dust.

Fu Han acted irrationally, and the scent of green plums wafted into Ji Qingyu's nostrils. Surprisingly, Ji Qingyu detected an overwhelming sadness in the fragrance.

Perhaps it was a delusion caused by his excessive grief.

"When was it?" Fu Han's eyes were dark, and his anger almost consumed Ji Qingyu. His Adam's apple bobbed. "Was it the first year, the second year, or... the sixth year? How many years after you dropped out of school?!"

Ji Qingyu lowered her eyes and smiled calmly, "...It's the sixth year, not long before our engagement. But you don't need to be too angry. I've already married you, haven't I? I didn't keep her, and it won't jeopardize the interests of the Fu family."

Fu Han's eyes were dark and inscrutable, and he tightened his grip, as if he wanted to break Ji Qingyu's wrist.

“The sixth year,” he mumbled the three words, repeating them several times before laughing, a cold laugh full of sarcasm. “Ji Qingyu, I thought you would improve after we got married, but it turns out you’re still just as despicable as you were six years ago.”

Such a dismissive tone made Ji Qingyu turn her gaze to the side, smile slightly, and crumple his heart like a piece of waste paper before discarding it.

Actually, it was his first year, the year he had just dropped out of school.

Fu Han stopped asking questions, and the two remained silent in the darkness.

Ji Qingyu was the first to react. Ignoring the pain, he shook off the other person. Fu Han was not standing steadily, and his breathing trembled slightly in the darkness. His tall figure took two steps back.

Ji Qingyu ran out in a disheveled state, and for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to look Fu Han in the eye. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he finally collapsed, stumbling against the wall before slowly slumping down.

Looking out from the corner of the stairs, there is a floor-to-ceiling window that is nearly ten meters high. The night is cool and still. Ji Qingyu looks out and sees green shadows swaying under the lamplight.

There wasn't a single star in the night. Under the tree, there was a blurry figure. Ji Qingyu looked over vaguely and realized it was Fu Yunsheng. He seemed to be arguing with someone, then quickly pulled the other person into his arms.

It was too dark; only Fu Yunsheng's face flashed by in the car headlights.

Ji Qingyu lost interest and leaned the back of his head against the wall again.

His consciousness drifted far away, and he thought of his child again, a girl. When Ji Qingyu lost her, his body felt like it had lost its function for a whole day and night; he could only stare up at the ceiling.

At that time, he didn't know what the future held, or perhaps nothing at all, only the daily grind of working, paying medical bills, repaying debts, and Ji Ran's occasional greetings.

At that time, he was lying in the hospital, surrounded by a bustling crowd of people giving birth, the cries of babies, and the laughter of family members.

He gripped the bedsheet tightly. The light from the window shone down, making his body feel warm and comfortable. He felt a sense of relief.

He thought it was actually a good thing that she wasn't born by his side; she should go to a better place.

He closed his eyes, trying to convince himself.

This should be a good thing.

That pain was a hundred times more intense than it is now. Ji Qingyu felt that the reason she was numb to many things was perhaps because the pain back then had exceeded her threshold.

*

He stayed alone for a while, then went downstairs. Ji Ran was at the entrance of the banquet hall, looking out at something. He was holding a glass of wine in his hand, and his eyes were filled with a faint weariness.

Ji Qingyu followed his gaze and saw Ji Deyong gazing tenderly at the actor under the lights. Ji Ran's eyes were empty, devoid of any emotion.

Ji Qingyu leaned against the wall, picked up the cocktail from the waiter's plate, and walked straight across the hall to Ji Ran.

Ji Ran realized something and slowly turned around. Before he could react, a glass of wine was poured over his head. He closed his eyes and the sticky liquid slid down, soaking his expensive white suit.

Ji Qingyu held the wine glass, his plain face filled with sorrow. He was like a moon about to shatter, letting out a sigh in the water reflected in the porcelain.

The elegant musical score suddenly took a turn.

The people around were stunned for a few seconds, then low voices came from the crowd, followed by screams and whispers.

Neither of them spoke for a moment.

"Looks like the result wasn't very good." Ji Ran wiped the water off his hair, tilted his head and smiled. He was unusually disheveled, with water droplets hanging on the ends of his hair, dripping down one by one.

“Brother, I really pity you sometimes. You can’t say anything, you can’t do anything. How does it feel?” He didn’t seem angry, but rather pitied her. He said in a low voice that only the two of them could hear, “People say that to kill a snake, you must strike its seven-inch spot, and to manipulate a person, you must strike their soft spot. This saying is indeed true.”

Ji Qingyu had no expression; he was quite calm. Some of the wine dripped onto his hand, making it sticky and unbearable. Ji Ran was still laughing, but he felt it was pointless, so he put down his glass and left.

The temperature in Beijing began to drop, and the evening breeze was chilly. Many petals were blown off the hibiscus trees along the street. He didn't know where to go, so he finally hailed a taxi and went to the hospital.

Apart from the nurses on duty, there was almost no one around. Ji Qingyu sat alone in front of Lin Ying's ward and realized that her wrist was swollen like a steamed bun.

Lin Ying remained the same, lying on the hospital bed, quiet as if asleep, the white lights outside the window casting a reflection. The city lights shone brightly.

The plant by the bedside has been replaced with a new one, a small cactus.

"Mom, what were you thinking when you chose to give birth to me?" Ji Qingyu murmured to himself, puzzled, his gaze unfocused on Lin Ying's sleeping face.

Given that environment, forced by Ji Deyong, he had to sell fish to raise him alone. Why would Lin Ying still have the courage to give birth to him?

"Actually, I lied to you," Ji Qingyu said, her head bowed like a child who had done something wrong. Her fingers were twisted together, and her soft hair fell loosely, swaying lightly beside her eyes.

“Fu Han and I are not good together at all. I don’t like marriage. I’m in a strange environment, always living under someone else’s roof. I wish I could go back to when I was eighteen, or sixteen, before anything happened.” Ji Qingyu’s voice was still steady, but her eyes were somewhat unfocused.

He sat alone for a while, his tuxedo somewhat thin, the chill seeping into his body through the gaps. He sneezed.

The electrocardiogram beside Lin Ying beat rhythmically, everything remained the same. Ji Qingyu stood up, his hand pressed against the glass, creating a layer of watery mist.

“Ms. Lin Ying, didn’t you say you were going to retire in Jiangcheng? Hurry up and finish your surgery, wake up properly, and then we’ll go together.” Ji Qingyu said slowly with a smile, “I’ve learned a lot of dishes, I can cook for you, I can watch the fish stall for you, and then we can eat Xiao Ma’s fruit. Oh, Xiao Ma isn’t in Jiangcheng… Anyway, I don’t like this kind of life anymore.”

A cold wind blew by, and he was too exhausted to move. He sat back down, his body slumping weakly in the chair, his head leaning to the side. He had no strength and couldn't even move a finger. He felt a damp, cold illusion in the air.

The corridor cast dark shadows. Ji Qingyu closed his eyes. He was exhausted and fell asleep without realizing it.

He slept very lightly and dreamed of some past events.

Since the beginning of their senior year of high school, Ji Ran and he have become increasingly close. He would always wait for him at the classroom door and take him to various activities. They were inseparable.

Ji Ran is keen on bringing Ji Qingyu bouquets of all kinds, giving Ji Qingyu expensive dolls, bringing Ji Qingyu meals, and leaning softly against Ji Qingyu calling him brother.

When Ji Ran intentionally tries to please others, no one in the world can resist his advances, and Ji Qingyu is no exception.

Looking into Ji Ran's bright eyes, he answered almost every question, quickly telling him about his family situation, the songs he had written, and even his relationship with Fu Han.

It was still a very ordinary day. The two of them were eating popsicles on the steps of the playground. A few classmates passing by greeted Ji Ran. He always had many friends.

Ji Ran said, "Brother, what kind of sincerity can Fu Han have? Omegas come and go around him, and he only plays around with them. Look, that one who walked over there, she used to have an affair with Fu Han. Do you think you can compare to that person?"

The popsicle in Ji Qingyu's hand melted a little, and without him noticing, sticky syrup landed on his hand.

Ji Qingyu took Ji Ran home. Ji Qingyu knew that Ji Ran's family was well-off. As they walked through the alley, Ji Ran looked around curiously and asked, "Isn't it crowded with so many people living here?"

"It's alright, actually it's enough for two people." Ji Qingyu smiled. "I'll make you fish porridge, it's freshly caught, just boiled fish slices, it's delicious."

Ji Ran tilted his head slightly, his smile becoming even fainter. His eyes shifted almost imperceptibly to one side, noticing the layers of small advertisements pasted on the wall. A hint of disdain flashed in his eyes, but his tone remained calm as he quietly said, "Okay."

After dinner, Lin Ying made Ji Ran a glass of juice, then went out, leaving the two of them alone.

Ji Ran sat quietly on Ji Qingyu's sofa. The fabric sofa was very clean and had the smell of sunshine that had just been put out to dry.

Ji Ran's gaze moved across the small two-bedroom apartment: an old-fashioned TV, faded curtains, a bright red calendar that hadn't been taken down from the New Year, and photos clipped to cotton cloth with wooden clips, depicting Ji Qingyu's life from childhood to adulthood.

His gaze was fixed on the photos, unmoving. The juice in his glass was sweet. His eyes curved slightly, and he said softly, "You are so lucky."

Ji Ran stared at the photos for a long time, not even noticing Ji Qingyu sitting down next to him. He only came to his senses when Ji Qingyu spoke, "You can come over anytime if you like, I'll cook you something delicious."

Ji Ran nodded, a smile on his face: "Okay, I like you the most."

Ji Qingyu took out the song he had written and spread it on the table. He really liked Ji Ran. Ji Ran was good-looking and had a noble temperament, like a porcelain doll.

When Ji Ran praised him, Ji Qingyu would instinctively feel embarrassed. He didn't have any other special skills, so he could only pick up his guitar and play songs for Ji Ran.

Ji Ran nestled on the sofa, finished his juice, and squinted sleepily. "Brother, do you remember that omega in our school who was forced to transfer?"

Ji Qingyu didn't react in time, her hands stopped moving, and she looked at him in confusion. Ji Ran chuckled and leaned over to pull Ji Qingyu's hand: "It's that female omega who released pheromones to Fu Han, her name is Ruan Jing."

“Actually, that girl is a nice person. She just liked Fu Han too much and made a mistake. In fact, we are still friends,” Ji Ran said. “Her family doesn’t have much money, and she has been working part-time to support herself. Because of this incident, many schools are now unwilling to accept her.”

“I think you could go to Fu Han and plead with him to let Ruan Jing go back to school. Aren’t you and Fu Han on good terms?” Ji Ran held Ji Qingyu’s hand affectionately, her eyes clear and bright, without any impurities.

The stray cat was meowing again in the small flower bed outside the balcony. The cat seemed particularly alert; upon seeing Ji Ran, it tensed up and hissed dangerously.

Ji Qingyu hesitated, after all, it was unlikely that Fu Han would forgive someone who had hurt him.

But Ji Ran was still looking at him.

Ji Ran had been so good to him, so perhaps a little pleading wouldn't be a problem. So Ji Qingyu nodded, "Okay, I'll try my best."

Ji Ran cheered. His hands were cool, and his fluffy head looked like an enthusiastic little dog, looking sincerely at Ji Qingyu. He leaned closer and rested his head on Ji Qingyu's shoulder.

“I don’t want to put you in a difficult position. You just need to arrange to meet Fu Han. I’ll be there too.” He gave Ji Qingyu a big hug.

The stray cat stretched out its paws and clung to the lever, its faint meows coming through the security window. Ji Qingyu got up and got it a small dried fish.

The stray cat stretched out its white paw and gently patted Ji Qingyu's hand twice, meowing loudly. Ji Qingyu put the dried fish near its mouth, but it ignored her and meowed even louder.

What's wrong?

Ji Ran stood up with a smile, glanced at the cat, patted his clothes, and said, "I should go now. You absolutely must help with this."

Ji Ran left, and the cat was still hissing behind him as he left. Ji Qingyu opened the window, and the kitten jumped into the room to survey its territory. Then it snuggled into Ji Qingyu's arms and meowed. Ji Qingyu remembered that day when the cat trampled over a patch of flowers, and he scolded it a few times with some dissatisfaction.

The kitten meowed at him a few more times, looking somewhat disappointed, then turned around, squeezed its body out through the crack in the window, dropped the dried fish, and left.

Perhaps all things have a spirit, and in the darkness, they wanted to protect him, but the connection wasn't right, and he didn't realize it in time.

*

A month later, on an ordinary afternoon, Lin Ying suddenly had a nosebleed at the fish stall. Ji Qingyu rushed back to the market from school and took her to the hospital.

The hospital television was broadcasting recent news: "Several companies under the Fu family's name are suspected of undergoing changes in ownership, and a new round of factional struggles is underway within the group. What impact will this have on Beijing's financial sector? Please see the expert analysis below..."

Ji Qingyu looked up at the screen. He hadn't seen Fu Han for several weeks and never expected that something like this would happen to Fu Han's family.

He wanted to lower his head and send Fu Han a message, but he was afraid of bothering him, so in the end he just asked, "Are you okay?"

The doctor registered Lin Ying and asked her to have her blood drawn. Ji Qingyu looked at the form in her hand. There were many procedures to be done, and she needed to pay first... The electrocardiogram and scan would add up to a considerable amount of money, equivalent to three months' income for the family.

The hospital was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant. Ji Qingyu, wrapped in a coat and wearing a mask, pushed Lin Ying up and down the stairs several times in a wheelchair. The doctor looked down at the diagnosis report in his hand and frowned slightly.

A patient knocked over a trolley outside the hospital, and the cries of children mingled with the chaotic footsteps. An argument broke out among the crowd not far away.

Ji Qingyu looked out the window with dry eyes. Several people were fighting, wailing, trying to stop them, and cursing. The light outside the window was cold.

"The results won't be available for a few days, don't be too nervous. We've seen this many times. Just go home and wait for our notification." The doctor frowned as he looked at the report. "Don't you have any other adults in your family? Why did you bring your mother alone?"

"Um, Dad has something to do today, he's away on a business trip." Ji Qingyu smiled, clutching the form tightly in her hand, and then asked carefully and politely, "Doctor, how long will it take to get the results? Will we be notified when the results are available?"

"Keep an eye out for yourself; you'll get a notification on your phone." The doctor adjusted his glasses, looking at the boy with some sympathy. "Son, whatever happens, be prepared. You're young; the future holds many possibilities..."

"Doctor, what... what does that mean?" Ji Qingyu frowned.

"It's nothing, you can go."

On the way back, Lin Ying leaned against the wall to rest several times, her voice weak, "Qingyu, I still feel uneasy. I told you my bank card password beforehand."

"Mom, don't say anymore, don't tell me anymore. The doctor just said that everything will be fine, don't scare yourself. You've just been too tired lately." Ji Qingyu patted Lin Ying's back and took her hand to walk back.

They usually walked this road, a journey that took them about three to five minutes, but today it seemed endless. Lin Ying's hands were trembling, so Ji Qingyu simply squatted down and carried her on his back. Only then did he realize how thin Lin Ying had become.

Finally home, Ji Qingyu helped Lin Ying to rest. She sat on the sofa with her eyes open for a while, and then received a phone call from Ji Ran. He said, "Brother, come quickly, Fu Han has gone back to school."

Back then, Ji Qingyu was naive and foolish. She was easily fooled by Ji Ran's few sweet words and paid a terrible price for those bouquets, hugs, and being called "brother" by Ji Ran.

He didn't realize at the time that this appointment would completely change his life, and he never imagined that those peaceful days would never return.

If he could go back in time, he would definitely grab his past self, slap him hard across the face, and tell him not to go, to stop right now. But there's no such thing as a free lunch in this world, where someone who has gone astray can have a chance to start over.

Ji Ran invited Fu Han to meet him in his name at a hotel near the school. It was said that the hotel was owned by the Ji family, so it was a perfect place to meet.

Worried about causing trouble, Ji Qingyu rushed over. Fu Han hadn't arrived yet, and Ji Ran was nowhere to be seen. Only he and Ruan Jing were sitting on the sofa in the living room of the huge suite, waiting for her.

Ruan Jing was still the same as before, with long black hair hanging down, looking thin and gentle, huddled in the corner of the sofa.

"Don't worry," Ji Qingyu comforted her. "It's good that you know you've made a mistake and can correct it. Just don't repeat it in the future. I'll try my best to plead with him."

Ruan Jing had long hair, and her face was almost buried in her clothes. With her head down, Ji Qingyu could not see her expression.

He thought Ruan Jing was just too nervous, so he poured her a glass of warm water and placed it in front of her, only to find that the omega was trembling all over.

Ji Qingyu frowned and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Omega was in a very bad state. She stammered and squeezed out a few words through her teeth. Ji Qingyu had to lean very close to hear her clearly. She said, "I'm sorry."

"Haha, it's okay..." Ji Qingyu thought Ruan Jing was talking about the day he was temporarily marked, but before he could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a pain. He stared blankly at Ruan Jing, whose lips were slightly pursed and whose features were somewhat distorted.

He looked down and saw a thin, sharp needle piercing his forearm. Before he could react, he lost control of his body. He opened his mouth, fell down, and hit his face against the wall. His nose stung, and he felt a sharp pain.

He thought about it for a long time but still couldn't understand how things had turned out this way.

The world spun around her. Ruan Jing grabbed the limp Ji Qingyu and dragged him onto the bed.

Then, sobbing, she picked up Ji Qingyu's phone, found the contact, and sent a message to Fu Han.

The air began to fill with the rich scent of rain, and the sweet omega hormones surged throughout the room, causing Ji Qingyu's glands to sting unbearably.

He didn't understand what was going on, but he felt that perhaps Ruan Jing still had some feelings for Fu Han and wanted to persuade her not to be so stubborn.

He was weak and his eyelids were heavy. Ruan Jing apologized to him in a trembling voice, saying that she had no choice and that if he didn't do as she was told, his family would not be spared. She put down her phone, drew the curtains, and left in a hurry.

Ji Qingyu was left in the room, his consciousness hazy. He felt his body gradually getting hot, and something felt wrong. He opened his mouth like a thirsty fish. Ji Qingyu had never had a clear understanding of his own gender. Even though he had been temporarily marked by Fu Han, to him it was nothing more than being bitten twice.

He differentiated too late and had too low sensitivity to pheromones, so he never thought about what the consequences would be for an omega to be permanently marked.

The door was pushed open again.

"You called me here just because of that omega? I've already told you, she has ill intentions." Fu Han's expression was a little impatient, he put his hand on his neck and gently twisted it a couple of times, his eyes filled with helplessness.

Even though Ji Qingyu was slow to react, he had already realized what was happening. He wanted Fu Han to leave quickly, but he couldn't make a sound.

Alpha seemed to have rushed over, still wearing a suit with two buttons undone, carrying a pair of dorayaki he had just bought. "Didn't you say you wanted to eat dorayaki from the food street last time? I bought it for you on my way. What are you doing lying there? Where's Ruan Jing?"

Fu Han tried to go forward to check, but suddenly a transmitter was fired through the window, and the needle pierced Fu Han's neck. Fu Han swayed, turned his head and touched the side of his neck a couple of times, seemingly not understanding what had happened, and froze.

A faint, encouraging voice came from outside the window. Ruan Jing said, "This is all I can do for you," and then ran away.

Fu Han stumbled back a few steps, leaning against the wall for support. He tried to push open the door, but it was locked from the outside. He tried to smash the glass, but after only a couple of steps, he collapsed to his knees.

Fu Han covered his head, breathing heavily. The dorayaki was thrown on the ground, rolled a few times, and was covered in dust.

Fu Han let out a terrifying, beast-like roar, and the strong scent of pheromones overwhelmed the two of them like a flood. Ji Qingyu was stimulated to shed tears of primal urges.

Fu Han didn't even wear a bite stopper. When he was with Ji Qingyu, he had already stopped wearing bite stoppers.

"Ji Qingyu, what do you mean?" Ji Qingyu hadn't heard Fu Han's voice so cold and terrifying in a long time, like a sharp icicle piercing him in two.

Fu Han couldn't help but walk to the bedside. Everything seemed to be a sudden event, rushing headlong into an uncontrollable direction.

Everything felt like an unreal nightmare. Ji Qingyu wanted to say that he didn't do it, but he couldn't speak. All he could respond to Fu Han was the even higher concentration of pheromones released by his body.

Fu Han covered his head, awkwardly raised his hand and smashed the glass, cutting his arm with the shards, blood spurting from his forearm. He tried to stay awake this way.

But it was no use. Gradually, Fu Han completely lost his mind, and Ji Qingyu's consciousness also became blurred.

"Ji Qingyu, how dare you treat me like this!" he said, almost collapsing, his voice trembling.

Ji Qingyu couldn't move, he couldn't make a sound, and he couldn't see Fu Han's expression. He felt as if he were frozen in the dead of winter, so cold that his limbs were shivering.

Until Fu Han grabbed his body, his eyes filled with chilling anger.

His lips were bitten intimately, and a surge of intense anger and overwhelming desire rushed in at once. Fu Han had completely lost his mind, turning into a beast driven by instinct.

An unbearable pain shot through his neck, the stench of blood filled Ji Qingyu's nostrils, and then, a deep wound was opened, where endless brutality was carried out. Ji Qingyu was on the verge of collapse; he couldn't scream or struggle free.

He passed out during the violence, and waves of pain washed over him. Fu Han was unconscious. When he bit him, it was like a wild beast marking its territory, always worried that it hadn't bitten deep enough. His neck was covered with teeth marks, layer upon layer.

Ji Qingyu was unable to move, like a corpse, and at that moment he wished he were a corpse.

Finally, Ji Qingyu, his face covered in tears, fainted. Then he had a nightmare in which everyone left him, and he lost everything.

He was startled and jumped out of bed, not knowing how much time had passed. The sky had turned a dull, dark blue.

Ji Qingyu's heart pounded uncontrollably. He stared blankly at his side. Fu Han was still asleep. He looked down at himself, his face contorted in a grotesque sight. He raised his hand to shield his eyes, and then belatedly felt a sharp pain in his body.

A light knock came from the door, and Ji Ran's voice came in, tinged with laughter: "Brother, are you awake? Come out quickly, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
